    In Europe we actually pay our employees proper wages, so most of the times there isn't a need or an expectation of tips. I'm very glad it is that way to be honest.

    I'm sorry, but as long as US waiters maintain the status quo and accept these ridiculously low wages then nothing will change. How come food outlets in the rest of the world can pay their staff a decent wage AND STILL MAKE A PROFIT, but American food outlet's can't? You are being jipped, you know you are being jipped, but you do nothing about it. It's not up to the customer to pay your wages, it's up to your employer.

    I am dutch and the gun thing is definetely something I think is weird. And that restaurants do not pay their staff a living wage. But something that is not on the list that I find shocking as well is ads for medicine. A few years ago I used to watch 'extreme couponers' and there pain medication was even on sale. That will NEVER be allowed here!!

      Oh yeah, no, definitely. Especially the "Ask your doctor for !" adds are just so, _so_ weird. I mean, if you need a particular drug, your doctor (also known as the individual who went through years of medical school) will prescribe it. The idea that you, the patient without _any_ medical expertise, should or even _could_ request a particular drug prescription is just nuts.

    I find it weird that some of you have multiple jobs to make ends meet. In Denmark we have a minimumpay pr hour on ca 20 dollar. And we work for 37 hours every week. So most of us have just one job at a time.

    it's not that tips are rude in europe but it's weird for us "europeans" that it's standard on the bill. if you were okay with service and foot you tip, otherwise don't. the rastaurant has to earn the tip and you do that with good food and good service and that is not being intrusive and coming to the table very often

    There's just one (and probably more) odd thing I just don't understand and that's the (mainly) imperial system instead of "our" metrical system, which is so more easier to work with. Use of both in the USA is confusing. Distance,speed, length, volume, temperature, weight etc. are imperial, but like money, time and volumes in medicine (and more) are in metric. All in all, moving to Europe from the US also comes with getting used to the (simplified) metric system. And man ........ metric is so much easier !!

    In general the video is correct, though every European country differs.
    On English teeth it's not correct, but braces are less used in the UK, as far as I heard.
    Prices in Europe are all inclusive, tax, service etc. And tips are not common, only when service is really excellent, but never in shops.
    Euro paper money is colorful and you immediately see the value by its color.
    Plastic money is very usual but we use bankcards (debit cards) with PIN. Only in hotels, better restaurants, expensive shops, credit cards are accepted.
    US television and radio are a horror to Europeans, you have to go to internet sites of your home country to see what's going on.
    Religion is private, you can be what you want in Europe as long as you do not bother others with it.
    Supermarkets and some others are open on sunday but certainly not all. Especially in Germany almost all shops are closed.
    Flags are shown, but not at normal houses, unless it is a national day. In Germany the flag is less present.
    Houses in Europe are smaller, but better build, bricks and concrete. If wood is used, it's heavy thick stuff.
    Women only have heavy make up for special occasions, usually they prefer a 'natural' look. Sportswear with a painted face is rare.
    Social contrast in Europe is much less, the 'working class' is much better off, and the rich do not show their wealth.

      @SatumangoTheGreat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Euro notes not only have a different color for each denomination, but also a different size to help blind people distinguish between them. Also face paint at sports events: probably only with euro cup or world cup international soccer matches. At least here in the Netherlands people get crazy with it :-)

    French fries aren’t French but from Belgium and they eat it with mayonnaise.
    Our waiters have a decent wage and don’t need a tip to survive. They get a tip as they are friendly and give good service. That means they don’t come to you that often; you have to wave at them to come to you.
    You can pay here with a bank card or credit card almost everywhere.
    We have very strict fire arms laws. Almost no one has one and those that do are member of a sports shooting club.

    • @davedevriesnl
      @davedevriesnl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    "Almost everyone I know has a gun"... now that's a phrase you won't hear anywhere in Europe. Don't get me wrong, we do understand the origin, but also don't understand, considering the ramifications. In the context of things Europeans find weird about Americans...

    I'm often surprised how religious Americans are and also how they expect their neighbors to be the same. I live in an apartment building and we know eachother but I have NO IDEA who's religious or not. It's not something you talk about outside the house. Maybe in the Dutch bible belt, but not in in normal circumstances. I don't know if they're religious and if I had the idea they were, I have no idea what KIND of religion. And I don't care either. And you're not supposed to flag day in day out. It's special, not an every day cloth

    I'd walk out of the door of a store if someone would just come up to me and kept talking to me. That's so annoying and invading. If I need help or want a talk I'll ask. I often see videos of stores where people are being welcomed by someone working there. All he/she does is welcoming someone. Why?
