The Nissan Versa is an entry-level sedan that competes with the Ford Fiesta, Toyota Yaris, Hyundai Accent and Honda Fit. Now in its second generation the popular Versa continues to bring value to the category, offering plenty of interior space, new features and a sub $12,000 starting price under.
I bought mine brand new in 2009. Have 87,000 miles on it and still love it. Great roomy car for the money.
I agree. the Versa may not be as sporty and as fast as some of the others but its roomy and comfortable with a great price
This car is for simple and practical commuting. I love it!
I bought this car as a new 2012 in the fall of 2011. Transmission went out at 60K miles, thank God I got the extended warranty, it would have been almost 4 grand otherwise. Kept it to about 190K miles. Nothing but basic transportation overall. Never felt safe in that car, though.
seems like it was one of the worst garbage cars youve ever had
So what happens when the transmission goes out does it just stay stuck in park or something 😁😁😁
@@randyrrs7028 I never really liked it, in fact I hated it, but I had been driving a Toyota Yaris which was on its way out and this was technically a slightly larger car. NEVER have I owned a car where I sat in the drivers seat, and the first thing out of my mouth, was, "God I hate this car." LOL
@@davidengland938 It stops shifting. It gets really jerky and the tachometer looks lies its possessed.
I jus bought this car for 4000 and the transmission was out and I didn't know. I was so depressed over it. All together I put 7 into this car. This car has caused me into depression. I'm a 25 year old single mom. That just wanted transportation for me and my kids
I just bought a new 2012 Nissan Versa S with CVT for $13,200. Some people hate the looks of it but I am not buying a show car. I don't care about the interior or speed. I just need a roomy commuter car with great gas mileage which is what I got. I am very happy with my purchase
Don't sniff at this car. For a starting price this low, Nissan has actually done a good job at building a base price car.
Even though it may not look very stylish, or the interior might not be plush, this car still means a lot to some people, especially those who just want to save money on simple transportation. What do you expect for 10k?
I had an older versa too. Until some teenager plowed into the back of my car with her daddy's ridonkulous sized truck. But to the versa's credit, it took all of the force, and I wasn't strongly injured.
....by the way, they come with AC, ABS brakes, a CD player player, traction control, a ton of airbags, and an auxiliary jack for my iPod.
Pretty good deal in my opinion for $13,200
He said "ipod" fhcxbjcv
The 5-door is a big upcharge, but the sedan is about $11,500 with destination charge, no power windows or locks, but it does come with air-conditioning. Nothing else is even in the ballpark for this with 5-speed. The closest competitors are things like a barebones Festiva and Kia Rio, but even those cost $2000 more, (though Rio has a better warranty).
Funny about people complaining about no trunk light and things. Who cares about a trunk light? I'll take power locks over a trunk light.
Just grabbed a base S model 5 speed for ~12k OTD including TTL.
Brand new car with warranty, ac, abs, airbags galore. Hate all you want but 12k for a new nissan is nothing but win in my book.
@havetolovemusic yup I was trying to make the same point too. This is not the Z series or the Sentra SE-R, this is a car for people who want to save money while getting good value in terms of fuel efficency and interior space.
I agree. I wouldn't want to spend my money on one of these. But there are still people out there who need this car, considering its cheap price and fuel economy.
At least this car is an improvement compared to its previous generation, but again, what do you expect for $10,000?
Of course, new cars are constantly improving in terms of technology. From your comment, I see that you want a car with style, comfort and good gadgets, which is why this isn't the car for you. When I say brand new, I mean purchasing a car first hand.
I don't see much cars (including future ones) in the entry-level segment to have prices as cheap as 10k. The Fiesta, Civic, Corolla, and Accent are all much more expensive options. It really depends on the customer's needs, but for me, it's a win.
I would like to know what kind of transmission?
the best value car !!!!
true its very reliable get u a to b safely.and nice leg room.and overall good size for small couple
bugsy101073 Agreed or at least it definitely is one :)
Well you are forgetting that a new car also brings something called a warranty which you usually don't get on a used car. The particular Nissan dealer where I bought my Versa automatically extend the power train warranty to 7years or 100,000 miles gratis on their own & the only dealer in town that does that. My dealer also gives me a free loaner car if I have to bring the car in for repair & with the high prices these days of used cars you may as well just go ahead & get a new car.
Just wondering if you can put a bike rack on it?
I got the versa when it first came out in '07, it was fully loaded for a total of $16,650. These cars are not $10,000 i don't know what they're advertising, even now the ones on the lot start at $14,000 and up they didn't know anything supposedly about how it handles in the winter since it was its first year in the u.s. let me tell you, it sucks in the snow and in the rain it slides!! I am very cautious driving it even when it drizzles... i live in the suburbs of Chicago, and I know snow.
Plain in simple this is a good rental car. Thats it!
I have a 2012 Cadillac CTS V as my weekend warrior, this Versa is a perfect everyday commuter for the business week, I'm just wondering how it would handle the Midwest winters.
Well hate all you like but if I were to buy an entry-level sedan under $12,000 I would definitely choose the Versa Sedan. At least you get the basics: airbags, air conditioning, electric windows, and good reliability.
Everyone has a choice so don't get me involved in an argument. By the way, it is brand new, so there's no need for those quotation marks.
i dont get it, why not buy a second hand alty or max?
I like this one better then the prev gen, the front looks like a volvo and the rear like a maxima
My dream car!
@WesSeid Although the Hatchback is a much nicer car. Plus it has the 1.8L engine and fully loaded has more features too. That being said though, it still is 3K more than the most expensive Versa Sedan. Whether that's worth it or not is dependent on the buyer
Why would you ever need to go 200km/h? I just don't get it.
In thailand the manual tranmission emt cost 14,285 dollars the top auto is over 17 thousands dollars more expensive then alot of other eco car
@lacinderellaphoto Thank you for your information. I was talking to a mechanic and he told me the Hundai was better, now I'm confused. I'm trying to find information about cars because my sister wants to buy a car but she can't decide which one.
am i crazy or is the rear wheel smaller than the front wheel?
I want this car but 2 speakers?
I hate to say it, but overall a very good car for smart buyers 10,000 dlls will be your gas savings,so the car pays itself thru time and its a nissan so price will not dropped down like ford or others.
Nissan: taking 1 step forward, but 1,000,000 steps back
I bought this car in September. I have the Hatchback SL.
The reason why I'm watching this video is because I wanted to see how it was reviewed, all because I'm very dissapointed with my purchase.
The middle panel shakes and feels like it's gonna fall off, whenever I turn on the car it makes strange noises it didn't use to make when I first got it, and above all it only get's 400 km's a tank which isn't much for all the talk it gets. I wouldn't recommend buying this car.
Thanks for reading.
,I have this car (2011 hatchback) and i like it better than the Sentra. Legroom in back seat is better than the Sentra.
@zabakkabou
No anymore , New Tiida are the Sentra for US after 2013MY
why not the SR, it's just appearance, no power gains
A 1992 Camry XLE has more luxury than this car 😂
A Hyundai Elantra is a Rolls-Royce Phantom compared to this
I just bought this car! YAY!!
Wow it comes standart with a 2 speaker audio system. Ok its a base price bargain car but it could have a bit more features.
THUMBS UP if you like when the KBB Music goes DU DU DUUUUH.
for the haters we pp have different taste eben chosing a wife we dont like to be same as every one else its an underated car for sure
This car is great for those who have conventional tastes and a conservative outlook on life which frowns on things that look too modern. Cars aren't supposed to be 'fun'. They are supposed to take you from point A to point B in relative comfort. Safety is important, comfort is important, fuel economy is important, especially if you live in a place where traffic moves at 10 mph.
Honestly, the only negative point about this car, and about Nissan vehicles in general, is their transmissions. Nissan's CVTs have a terrible reputation, because they have a tendency to fail and are sealed units which cannot be repaired (I wonder who was the 'genius' which came up with this idea). So, basically, if your transmission fails, you have to buy a new one, and that can be quite expensive. I wish Nissan would switch back to regular 4-speed automatic transmissions. Their transmissions were among the best in the industry, and in some cases, they could last more than 3 decades.
I'd get it if I could!
109 HP?!? Sheesh... most 1.6L now deliver at LEAST 120....
The designers were like oh f***k it
Actually, one of them put a jelly bean in their mouth, chewed it a couple of times, then took it out and said, "here, lets model it after this."
@@kcmaldonado3948 LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 DUDE YOU ARE AWESOME 👏👏👏👏👏👏💪💪💪💪💪
@jpusar Just for sake of argument, I've seen the local Ford dealer here have an auto S Fiesta in weekly. They keep sellin' em, but they keep getting delivered.
There's 2 big problems with this car:
1) base model takes away too many basic things that not even Hyundai in the 90's thought of taking away. They left the A/C and radio, but decided on having 2 crappy speakers, lower quality materials and seats, and...no trunk light? Really?
2) The base does not exist...anywhere. Now, every car manufacturer always manufactures less base models than the rest, just because most people will buy the 1up model. That's fine. Thing is, I have yet to see 1 anywhere...
To achieve that $10K price, you just have to wonder what corners Nissan cut. It's the stuff that can't be seen that's worrisome.
he never mentioned the mazda 2, at least not yet.
Just bought one and these cars are not under $12,000. I bought it used with only 6,000 miles over any corolla, civic etc because those cars are much costlier and your getting more mileage with those cars as apprised to buying this car less mileage at a lower price.
Did He Just Say 2 Speaker Audio System ?
this car is awesome for the price, what other car can you get for 12k brand new?1
This is not a fast car, luxurious car. its a commute car, something that can take you from point a to b. who needs hp if your not going to race? even with a civic or fiesta, what r u going to do floor it? lol
Yeah.
When I got money i'll buy me a 2012 Nissan Versa 1.6S CVT.
do the 13' Sentra (not the SR) please
Those people would be better off buying a 2-3 year old Corolla, Sentra or Civic.
The hatchback has not received the redesign, so you don't have the same car
you should drive the standard version and see, because obviously the automatic is boring
Brand new as in having the latest safety and technological advancements? Brand new as in having the latest comfort creatures? Brand new as in having breakthrough styling? No, on all counts. It's cheap, I'll give you that. But if you only have $10K to spend and absolutely must have a "brand new" car then you should consider saving more money until you can buy something more substantial.
They are gonna discontinue the Nissan Sentra
... Im still like... no center armrest? thats all I culd think about after they said it...
@bajabusta yeah the chevy sonic has an interesting design
Previous gen> 2012, really 2 speakers? that aint even a car, that and they cut down the HP, my 93 corolla had at least 115hp, 2011 versa at least offered 120+HP, Im glad i got the 2011 model.
The front end, is good....The rear end is AWFUL!
It is like Nissan designers did not know how to finish the car in the rear end.
The interior..hmmm..just acceptable... I will take an Accent 10000 times over this Versa.
Yeah but when you add in the air conditioning and radio and power windows, it cost about the same as a regular already loaded Honda fit or Hyundai Accent
The front is seriously a Toyota vios, or in the US, new yards sedan
nissan is perfect for everyday commute for 12,000 it's the cheapest new car in united states
Does i have a screen?
REAPER what?
We're talking about brand new cars.
You're dead inside if you buy a Versa or Yaris over the Fiesta or Fit.
Give me the new Kia Rio anyday of the week.
Take note, if you add an automatic trans to this, or get the hatchback version, or add power windows and things, suddenly the Versa gets a lot of competition. This is only "the only game in town" at its price if you get the 5-speed sedan version with no power stuff.
A lot of these parts came straight out of my cube XD
@havetolovemusic if you want to save even more money, then buy a reliable used car instead....
i find the front end styling offensive!
Bro I have a company versa from 2012 that looks like it was made in 1990
i hate the new interior...i have a 2011 and the interior is so much more luxurious/refined than this one...its like a step backwards!
wow....lol....my "CAR" has more than twice the horse power of this car and I have a regular family car.....I live in a very hilly place and have to go up and down hills every other day....this car probably would not work for me unless I feel like replacing the engine every year and a half when I go to San Diego......they should throw in a turbo like my Mazda Protege had ( only had 120hp without the turbo ).
Good car for $10k.
@clarity023 Oh my bad, "Hyundai"
this looks like a G37 when its born, its a baby lol
Nissan needs to redesign the tail end. As slow and lack luster as this is PRICE POINT. When looking at this car at dealerships they start at $16k stripped. I dont know what $10,999 starting msrp theyre talking about. This car needs to be $10k fully loaded or it will not sell because it is boring dull and just fugly.
@ormand3000
I listen it on TV program in Thailand
I can tell you that this car is much spacious inside for tall drivers than the last or first generation, which was designed in Japan for japanese drivers! Either you make yourself comfy for the steering wheel or for the pedals, but never both! This new generation comes from Renault's small car chassis (Clio, Platina, Symbol), as is the engine, which worries me because it is not as dependable nor long lasting as Nissan's designs.
@wokeupthismorning100 Because this car is cheap. But The interior of this cars not very nice.
Left panel of the steering wheel is not as electronically that it forces users to use by hand instead of just beeping button press .
The speed is 200km / h too slow if we compare with other vehicles such as Hyunhdai 2012 with the price $ 15,000 or more, not tax yet.
Designs outside vehicle looking not bad. But, even for people who like modern cars like me.
Overall the car is still backward.
@zabakkabou yes.
cont'd....
So, an OK but good value 10,999 car becomes an OK but not very competitive 14,320 car at the SV. Yeah, its has power everything, but the whole thing is cheap. All the plastic bits make sounds when you squeeze them...just not high quality. The Fiesta, Spark, SX4, and Mazda2 sell for the same price with Auto tranny, and if you don't mind manual, also the Soul, Fit, Accent, and even Nissan's own Versa Hatchback or cube.
I'd take any of these cars over a 2012 Versa. Its just....cheap.
get manual trans
Like I said, people would be better off with a certified used Corolla/Civic/Sentra than this "brand new" rolling tin can!
I prefer the hatch version!
it looks like an old model
A two speaker audio system... wow nissan, even a chevy cavalier has a 4 speaker audio system.. a fucking cavalier for god sakes.
Thumbs down for my grammar. Lol.
this car makes me sad.
I am not a Nissan hater nor a compact car hater, but this car is really ugly with an awful overhang on the rear, i can't believe in a segment that has taken such a step forward like the Fiesta, Rio and Sonic that they chose the make the new Versa such a basic means of transportation.
get a kia rio or hyundai accent its better
The designers of this car were just like "Screw it...."
I'm sorry, but for this car's price you could get a really nice used car. I don't see the appeal apart from the cheap price and the gas mileage.
@havetolovemusic There are so many used cars you can get for under $11,000 that are way better then this slow, dreary, cheaply made, foul piece of machinery. Buy a used Honda Fit. I guarantee you it will better in every way.
the 2012 Kia Rio looks alot better than this!
