Dissolving Cataracts with a Drop

  • Most of us can see clearly…but for tens of millions of people around the globe who have cataracts, their vision can be pretty blurry.
“Unfortunately, anyone who gets old will have cataracts,” said Kang Zhang, a professor of ophthalmology at the University of California, San Diego.
Cataracts are broken protein fragments that build up inside the lens of the eye. The only way to remove the cloudiness is surgery to remove the cloudy lens - that is -until now.
A new eye drop may be all patients need to clear up their vision.
Zhang and his team of molecular biologists and ophthalmologists at UC San Diego have created a steroid-based eye drop that breaks up the protein fragments and dissolves cataracts.
Up until now, the drops have only been tested on dogs such as: Black Labs, Queensland Heelers and Miniature Pinschers with promising results.
“Dogs, just like human beings, will get cataracts when they get old. In fact, cataracts are very, very prevalent in the dog populations,” said Zhang.
“What we have actually done is put it in a dog's eye and in six weeks, we have seen reversal of cataracts, or increased clarity in the lens,” Zhang said.
The dog's eye lens has changed from a cloudy yellow color to a clearer white color.
Researchers believe that the drops will do the same thing for the lens of the human eye.
“I think this …can really change, or transform how we practice this medicine,” said Zhang.
In the future, it could help not only cataracts, but other conditions that involve proteins such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease.
A happy outcome for dogs-and hopefully their best friends.

These drops never see the light of day. No pun intended. Cataract surgery is HUGE business and dollars. The medical industry will never let an eye drop solution replace the huge money-making business of cataract surgery. It is the same reason the medical industry never cures anything anymore (Cancer, autoimmune diseases Nothing). Bad for business.

I have just begun treating my young Persian cat's juvenile cataracts with castor oil from Heritage Products who seems to be in line with Edgar Cayce. I would not hesitate to put a drop in my eye, so I am trying it on the kitten. Surgery would cost as much as my cataract surgeries did. I did not know about castor oil treatment until recently or I would have opted to use it for my cataracts. I do not trust or believe AMA doctors.

You’re spouting BS. I was diagnosed with cataracts 3 years ago in both eyes (my right eye being the worse) and believed the same thing you mentioned. I tried Can-C, DMSO, Dr. Sebi’s eyewash and other alternative, holistic concoctions in both eyes. Everything I followed directions to the t for 6 months straight. I’m now 95% blind from one eye due to the thickening of the cataracts. Ophthalmologist says it’s only a matter of time before my other cataract dims my sight in my other eye. Eye drops don’t work.

I’m 75 and had cataract surgery last year. I opted for the choice to have 20/20 farsight, with the premium astigmatism lenses. After the first eye was done, I found out the doctor had forgotten to write the astigmatism lense on my order, and it was not done for one eye. Also, I was not told that my close vision would be much worse than it was before, so now I can’t read labels, numbers on the phone, or put on makeup without my glasses on constantly. I wish I had my old eyes back.

Probably not. If you are a candidate for replacement you will want to do it sooner rather than later. the longer it heals in the harder to replace. I got a second opinion on mine a couple weeks after and though it wasnt great, he said no dr would repair it as another surgery would be 50% chance improvement 50% complete blindness. Sometimes the drops can cause blurriness.. talk to your dr. get a 2nd opinion@@ingrida.r.1533

I was pushed into cataract surgery at age 57 because I had the start of cataracts. I opted for the new multi focal lenses to never wear glasses
HUGE mistake. The wrong strength lenses were put in and I was told that I'll get use to them. 30 days later the doctor suggested to do lazik on both eyes to correct the mistake of wrong lenses. Double Huge mistake. I now have glasses for distance and reading glasses!!!
Now I asked to remove new lenses and replace with proper lenses. Nope could not have another operation because after 30 days the new lenses fused to my eyes and removal could cause blindness!! Please get a second opinion always. I'm regretting every day that I did not.

The Russians experimented on the eyes of prisoners in their gulags. What they came up with was l-carnosine eyedrops. Normal people are born with lots of l-carnosine (an amino acid) in their eyes. It's gradually used up, which causes the proteins to become cross-linked, or thickened, into cataracts. These eyedrops have been in use for decades. The cataract in my left eye was so developed that I couldn't make out the big E on the eye chart. When my ophthalmologist said a 15-minute outpatient surgery would take care of it, I asked him if my previous problems might recur, he thought for a minute, and said, "They might." I wasn't in a position to have a chauffeur, so decided to see what other possibilities there were. At my 6-month checkup, he was shocked that he could see only a tiny cataract.
I have been using these eyedrops with l-carnosine since June 2009. My cataracts disappeared, and my vision is corrected to 20/20 with corrective lenses. My 14-year-old dog's cataracts disappeared completely, too, and he ran and jumped like a puppy again for five more years. Poor guy was just limited by being half-blind before!

Use castor oil in your eyes. I had an eye exam about six years ago and the optometrist told me I had two small cataracts in my eyes. He said I probably had five years before they would be a problem. I bought amber dropper bottles from Ebay, bought non-hexane castor oil from the health food store. I keep the castor oil next to my bed. At night I put a few drops in each eye. Four three years ago I had another eye exam. The doctor didn't say anything about cataracts. He said my eyes were in good shape. I am 67. The castor oil is so easy to use and it feels great. And, yes, it works. You will see improvement in days.

I had lasik surgery one year ago, and my right eye deteriorated to the point where I think I might need glasses. My dog has one small age-related cataract and I tried can-C for several months. It worked immediately and gave her vision again, but I haven’t seen any improvement since and it even seems like the cataract is growing….I found out about castor oil and ordered it off Amazon. Tried it on myself. Put one drop in my right eye an hour ago, and while I was laying in bed I realized I could read the ingredients list on my sunscreen bottle 4 feet away. My right eye vision is now better than my left eye vision. I put one drop in each eye just now and my vision is even better… like the same right after I had lasik, when your vision is super sharp.

You're a conspiracist, aren't you? Of course you are. Have you ever taken aspirin? How about acetaminophen? Guaifenisin? Melatonin? Indomethacin? Thyroxine? The market is flooded with stuff that works very, very well.
Cataract surgery is very low-profit surgery. It's fast and cheap and barely pays its way... and the clinics that perform it give up valuable space for cataract surgery ... space that they could have used for higher-profit stuff. They'd love it if they could fix your cataracts with eyedrops.
Surely you cannot think that the researchers are threatened by the loss of cataract surgeries. Surgery funds a hospital, a surgeon, support staff. Not research labs. Oh, wait. Do YOU know of a surgeon who funds research on cataract-relieving eyedrops? The whole idea that the drops have been suppressed to save the surgeons' funding is as silly as a hat full of ass.
Even if these eyedrops actually worked at all in humans (they don't), they could not possibly restore the original optical qualities of the lenses, which are thick and dense and have no internal blood flow to carry this stuff around... especially since the eyedrops can't even be applied to the lens itself (and the compound isn't water-soluble so it can't be carried into the lens in water). The drops are applied only to the outside of the corneal surface because that surface covers your lens like a tarp. You really expect excellent penetration and uniform distribution from an eyedrop?
Just count on the fricking surgery. It's fast, easy, and cheap.

I had cataract surgery 2 years ago. I bought the so-called upgraded lenses. The surgeon and I discussed better distance vision and possibly low level reading glasses for close up vision. I’d love to sue for malpractice because she did the exact opposite. I can read tiny print without glasses but need glasses for distance especially when driving at night. When I complained about not being able to follow or see my golf ball the surgeon laughed saying what’s the big deal, you can read without glasses. I said that’s not what we agreed to. I will never go back to that SOB, ever.

10 years ago I was diagnosed with dry eye, then a small cataract began to form. I had lasik surgery twice and did not want to have another surgery on my eyes as I had been told that each surgery takes a slight portion of skin off, making the flap less thick. Upon hearing the news that I was developing a cataract my first reaction was that I had to be lacking something, vitamin? mineral? but what? It was in my research that I saw a comment by someone else that said to take 1800mg of NAC a day plus 1000mg of L Carnosine. The first week the haziness got worse but after that week my vision has been clear and I continue to take these every day. My eyes are creating more tears which I think is key. In the summer of 2020 I went to the eye doctor he said nothing about cataracts or dry eye. I told him I had been told I had a slight cataract and if he could tell me anything, he couldn't. He saw nothing and could report nothing.

But the help it gave was so appreciated. I could see more of her beautiful eyes too. The white covering was less thick and going completely away at edges.

The vision in his one eye returned to normal, but he had been blind in the other eye for about four years, and that eye was totally opaque and swollen. The vet said it would eventually burst. In a few years they will release the tech that will heal most everything... they've been hiding it for ages but it will be accessible as soon as they work out the other industries that will be affected, like life insurance. This is what I hear anyway... it will end the need for hospitals and health insurance so a lot of people will need to transition into other ways of making money prior to the release. Ha ha. Then when he examined my eyes, he seemed perplexed, and mused aloud to himself that I must have been "seeing around the cataract." Wha-a-? I was diagnosed with cataracts about 7 years ago and have been using ayurvedic eye drops daily since then, mostly elaneer kuzhambu.. Cataracts are still very slight, as confirmed by eye exam last week, and they don't actually affect my vision at all. I'll have to use them for the rest of my life, but an insignificant inconvenience as they allow me to avoid surgery. And they only cost me around $1/month, so it's no burden on any level. I got diagnosed very early. Mature cataracts wouldn't do as well with them.
