Holidays and Holiday Pay: New legislation for 2024

  • The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023 ends the supremacy of EU law over UK law from 1 January 2024. The UK Government has taken the opportunity this presents to introduce new legislation at codifying and/or simplifying the rules for calculating on holiday entitlement and pay. In this webinar, we looked at the implications for employers trying to understand the rules for:
    Accruing annual leave and carryover rights;
    Calculating holiday pay - what is "normal pay" under the new Regulations?
    Calculating holiday entitlement and pay for irregular hours and part-year workers

    Speaker biographies:
    Lynne Marr
    Lynne is accredited as a specialist in employment law by the Law Society of Scotland and is also an accredited mediator. She forges close working relationships with our team's clients and her commercial and straight-talking approach is welcomed by them. She works with clients in various sectors across the public and private sector in Scotland and the UK including public transport providers, universities, government bodies, investment firms and banks.
    Lynne advises on all stages of the employment relationship from recruitment, through to termination and beyond. Her work is split between dispute resolution through employment tribunals and on advisory and non-contentious employment law. Lynne advises on equalities issues, business change, transfers and redundancies, industrial action, executive hiring and exits, investigations. She particularly enjoys working with HR professionals to support them on complex HR issues.
    Will Rollinson
    Will joined Brodies Employment and Immigration team in 2015. He advises on all aspects of employment law and has experience of dealing with the legal issues arising on staff transfers and large-scale change projects, including the threat of industrial action.
    Will regularly provides HR support on a range of matters including complex disciplinary and performance related issues. Will also deals with employment litigation and regularly appears in Tribunal. Will also drafts employment documentation including settlement agreements; service agreements for senior directors; and bonus arrangements.
    Will combines practical advice and support with a commercially focused approach.
