"Choose Me" -- a song featured in the Netflix original movie "KATE" and the HBO Max series Peacemaker as BAND MAID, has so many great RnR chops, it's kinda unbelievable. From Saiki's old-school phrasing, cadence and a super soulful vocal at the end; MISA's driving bass, her special riff after Kanami's brilliant, rocking main solo (complete with harmonic pinch), and her pulls at the end of the song that really funks it up with Akane's drumming; to Kanami's original composition, off-beat octave stretches during the verses, and her addition of a second uncomplicated yet super tasty solo; to Akane's unique snare & tom flurry that launches the choruses; and to Miku's octave-down, in & out vocal backup and lyrics... all makes "Choose Me" a throwback rocker that surprised me when I first heard it - and I'll bet most anyone - that they would come up with this western-style, rock 'n roll classic. Of course, after years later, it's not surprising at all coming from this important band of geniuses who are, along with The Warning band, almost single-handedly bringing back the joy of rock. Here's a great, better studio mixed MV of "Choose Me" that's more punchy: th-cam.com/video/MZIJ2vFxu9Y/w-d-xo.html Thx, Danny & Lee!
Wow, you really captured the essence of "Choose Me"! BAND MAID's talent is truly impressive, and it's great to see how their unique style resonates with so many. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
This is the genius of Miku (Lyrics) and Kanami (music). The vocals lines are changed from Japanese to English etc to suite the the musical composition with regard to time signatures which takes a lot extra work arrangement wise. Just more genius from the band members.
They are so creative! That is a lot of work, both to compose and to perform. I do love it when bands from other countries combine English with their native language. It's like building a musical bridge between cultures. Thank you for watching!
Absolutely! The artistry in adapting the lyrics and compositions shows just how talented Miku and Kanami really are. It's impressive how they manage to maintain the essence while working through different languages and time signatures!
Keep exploring this pigeonhole, gents. Band Maid is a never ending adventure for music enthusiasts. They bend and blend genres and make you smile as they do it. You commented on Saiki’s breath control. She’s quite serious about fitness and health along with her serious vocal training. If you want, please check out “I can’t live without you,” preferably the live version. Just to prove she actually has the ability to do what was laid down in studio. There’s a good fan cam from the Tokyo One-man show. Oh, and the song kicks out 80’s metal vibes…a real killer riff
English words and phrases thrown in Japanese songs is actually quite common. It started back in the 70's with a new generation of musicians who were heavily influenced by British and American rock and roll. Short explanation: Japanese think English sounds cool. Pretty much everybody learns some English while in school. Japanese also uses a lot of loan words from English. If you see something written in katakana, one of the phonetic alphabets, about 90% of the time it will be a word borrowed from English.
Well, the old country music singers used to say all the time that they were just going to be honest, that they stole everything they knew from somebody else. Should that not be in an insult? It's just that they all learned different things from different people, different genres and different cultures. A lot of people see country music as being just USA type thing. when actually the country's singers, the older ones are more diverse than most of the rock and rollers. How big is beautiful to see the mixing of cultures. It's much better than the division, right?
Yeah, I remember her saying that in the interview. Yeah, I Only meant that if Orathani who told her about it. Then you would think that has to be some kind of influence.
Thanks to the strong U.S. dollar, Japan feels 35% cheaper (especially the food cost) than five years ago. The U.S. dollar is going strong relative to many foreign currencies right now, which translates to international travel bargains.
Yeah, I can understand. everyone is different in every country is different and I acknowledge that and accept it for a lot of people. Don't I think across all lines. I understand that all these lines are invisible and that they're not real. So I can see from another point of view and it doesn't bother me. Thank you so much for your engagement and your comments.
"engrave it on your breast" is a mistranslation, although it is an official translation. It is a metaphorical phrase that is saying "engrave it on your heart".
OK. Thank you. I just knew I've seen breast. I had no problem with the lyrics. I just say what's on my mind when it when it's there. I have tried to find a filter. They don't sell one in my size. Of course, that is a joke. I'm just saying I don't put a lot into what I say because it's usually just to spur the moment. True reaction.
If you think this song is dirty, you aren't ready to hear "Don't Let Me Down". A. One of 4 Band-Maid songs that is completely in English. B. Very suggestive language The song also is a driving pop punk song that you'd love. You should check that one out.
I didn't have a problem with it. It just surprised me. Everything I've seen out of the ladies, they're very classy and respectful, and they still are. This just kind of caught me off guard. And like I said in the earlier comment, Whatever I say is just what I say. It comes out of my mouth. I have no filter. I say things right in the moment. Unless I make a point to come back to it, I don't think about it again. It's just what I said. True reaction, right? And I appreciate all of your engagement.
If you aren’t fans of the “masters” fan name, we mostly just call ourselves “Maidiacs”. The lady folk seem a lot happier with the princess moniker though. I don’t blame them.
I don't have an issue with it. I think there are a lot of people with cultural tunnel vision. Master can mean a number of things, it used to just be a term of respect, such as: "I love your handle master evilducks." Plus, I really am not familiar with "maid clubs" where the band gets a lot of their aesthetics. But people just tend to immediately associate it with slavery or something like that. That having been said "Maidiacs" is an awesome group name! 🤘🤘
No, I dont have a problem with it. I just say whatever comes to my mind. I don't have a filter. So just know that unless I make a point to say something more about it, whatever I say is in that moment. And I don't think about it after that. I got no problem with the Masters and the servants. I think it's pretty cool concept.
Stimulating comments. I always associate Choose Me with Secret My Lips, and Puzzle. Three different takes by Band Maid on failed relationships. All different, and all are bangers.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's always interesting to hear how others interpret their music. Band Maid truly has a gift for storytelling through their lyrics.

Lead guitarist Kanamincho Tono plays PRS guitars because of her idol Carlos Santana PRS play

Plus there is no tipping in Japan:)

I see. Thank you so much for watching, and for clearing that up. "Engrave it on your heart" does make more sense given the context of the song.

Thank you for watching. Honestly, "Don't Let Me Down" sounds like a lot of fun! We always love doing recommendations.
Great song, it doesn’t have subtitles and despite being in English, you’ll want the lyrics to read. Trust me.
C : not written by them. Which takes a lot of the impact from the song in my opinion.

Thank you. Band Maid is always a blast to react to! 🤝
Thank you so much! Your support means a lot to us!

Yeah, that makes me think of iron maiden. That's cool because it's one of my favorite bands. I like that maidiac.
