- Truthfully we worked SO well together! We’re so similar and we just got each other! So proud of this beautiful dress!
And for those of you wondering, she had JUST had covid a few weeks before flying to see us ( she flew in the clear) so she wasn’t worried about catching it, and the footage of making the dress is from 3 months ago😂 the wedding just happened a few weeks ago so nobody was at risk ✨

That dress is some of your best work
A well-known hairstylist from Korea named Kiu was asked by a student how he would handle difficult clients who were very picky about what they wanted. He said he actually loves those clients cause they knew what they wanted and it made him want to satisfy them more (bonus was that it challenged his skills to improve). I think this is a perfect example of that! It brought me so much joy to see how happy you made her even with the incomplete dress. Kudos to you for doing that while sick as well!
Sometimes you have to manage client expectations though 😂🤦🏼♀️ as a nail tech and make up artist, you have no idea how frequently I get clients handing me photos of what they want and they’ve been HEAVILY filtered 😭 especially if they’re over 50 and they hand me a photo of a 20 year old model. They want to look exactly the same, despite being a totally different eye shape, eye colour, face shape and skin tone. I can make you look incredible but I can’t create something that literally isn’t even real to begin with lol.
I keep that famous photo of Beyoncé before and after retouching handy. Even Beyoncé has texture 😂🙌🏻 We all do!
I also get nail clients who want extreme length nails but flat and paper thin, like they see on Tik Tok or IG 😭🤦🏼♀️ Unless you have a cleaner, a housekeeper, a driver, and have no job except to swan around, they’re not going to last lol. They need an apex (they can’t be so flat) and the base/natural nail needs to be able to hold the weight of the extension or they’ll just snap 😭🙄 The stress area is too thin, and the balance is off. When I opened my own business, those clients almost always came back within the week complaining about broken nails. Now, I explain I don’t do flat nails that are too thin because the risk to the natural nail is too great and I refuse to do my job badly. Then it’s up to them whether they want to continue with the service that will last til their next appointment, or go elsewhere and be disappointed when the inevitable happens lol.
Acrylic in particular is an issue. Modern acrylics are flexible so they will bend before breaking and when they break, it’s just the product. Your natural nail is generally fine. MMA is illegal in many places because it’s so dangerous, but it’s also rock hard 😖 So, paper thin, flat nails will probably “last” when using MMA, but it’s damaging your health and when you snap the nail, your nail bed will snap with it. It’s bloody and painful 😭😂
The moral of the story: manage client expectations so BOTH of you will be satisfied, and listen to the professional lol. If we tell you it can’t be (or shouldn’t be) done, it’s because we have a good reason lol. I WANT you to spend money on my services so if I’m saying no, there’s a reason lol.

Also when I got sick I had so much brain fog I could barely function let alone do something that takes as much processing power as making a custom dress.

Making a custom piece whilst the client is with you is an absolute saviour. When i start my own business. Custom makes are requested for multiple fittings so insure the best results get made. They do this with wedding dresses and tailored suits.
Ive recently made medieval pieces though they had looseness there were areas that one model was shorter in others but around the same hight as another. So i used the first model as a template for both and ised them to make the second models rough patterns. This helped alot.

It sounds as if they didn't even come into contact with each other. Plus, she's standing on a veranda in Italy, twirling her heart out...so I seriously doubt she contracted Covid based on how she was acting and looking.

I was looking for a comment like this!! I was pleasantly surprised to see at least one person masking, until he said he'd caught covid 😬 then saw his mask was down. This is why I keep an N95 with me for outings 😅 you just never know

True. She needs the height, and long dresses on a short frame are rarely flattering. His creation is flattering in many ways, and subtle in the ways in which it adds height while the colouring doesn't overwhelm her. The detail at the sideseams is just chef's kiss.
