A very good choice, Hylt. You obviously did your homework prior to buying them. Very characterful little locos that would have been a common sight around Scotland's industrial locations. Classy touch by Accurascale in retaining the Hatton's logo on the box. Your tips regarding DCC issues are very welcome.
Thank you Stephen, I’m trying to be a little more selective lately with my choices rather than buying anything that appeals 😅 it’s a slippery slope! Thank you for watching my friend, did you go to the NEC?
@Proper_Chuffed I was planning to go, but it's a l9ng way from where I live, and the weather took a turn for the worse, so I cried off. I see you mate Double O Dave didn't make it either. Ah yes, buying stuff just because you like it: definitely a "slippery slope!" But do whatever gives you pleasure, provided you bank balance - and partner - can stand it...
@ I saw the weather really wasn’t ideal this past weekend, so that makes a lot of sense 😂 I’m very lucky, Annie is rather supportive of this delightfully expensive hobby. I count myself blessed in this regard! Any new acquisitions on your side by the way?
Well firstly thank you so much for the shout out, Hylton - very much appreciated, and a real honour 😊. As for the shunters - they are things of great beauty and looks just the ticket on your layout. Thanks for much 👍🚂
Top tier again mate, the distillery is going to be superb! Can’t wait to see it develop. Those tankers look decent mate don’t imagine sound is an option. Just one thing I would say and it’s not a criticism but when you said at the end “keep your engine drivers fired” I took your advice fired two of the lazy ones on mine on the spot for no other reason that you advised it and now they’ve got the union on my back and are threatening industrial action! 😬 Anyway you said it so I’m sending the solicitors letters onto Proper Chuffed Railways 😊
I don’t know about sound mate, it would be a VERY tight fit but Accurascale don’t offer sound off the bat. 😂 you misheard, “keep your engines fired” not fire your drivers 🤣🤣🤣 I’ll get my legal team ready
OO gauge is rich with industrial shunters these days and it's brilliant to see! These two seem to do the job you've asked of them very well indeed and they fit right in to the setting. Great video Hylt 🤙
Thanks Rob 😊 indeed they are hard working little engines and as you say, OO is rich with options, I couldn’t not go with the Scottish made option 😂 cheers brother
They are a nice Scottish addition to the layout …they will look great with a wagon load of barrels….when you mentioned the the “Twins” it reminded of “The Broons”. A Scottish comic strip large family….loosely based on truth. Might invest for my wee distillery…..thanks again McHylton. 🏴
I’ve not seen the Broons David, but will make sure I do now 😂 cheers for watching, I didn’t know you were doing a distillery too? Is it based on a real one? Thanks my friend
@ The Broons and Oor Wullie were and still are quite infamous in these neck of the woods, originally in the Sunday Post paper…then Christmas Annuals were produced featuring many stories. I,ve had a distillery built for a couple of years now,not based on anywhere in particular, try to keep my railway with a Scottish flavour obviously.
I have a wave one example of these, deep blue with wasp buffer beam. Love it to bits but never found a decoder that suits it. On DC at least it manages the point well enough, though needs a bit of a run up. But, if you say they can work them no problem, I might pick up another if funds allow it, Accurascale ships to Europe without import tax...
😊 good to see you again @FlyingScott, I must say, mine had no issues on points, even on DC. I doubt there is room for stay alives in the tiny space of the boiler. I suspect we may get a revised tooling in the future from Accurascale that may be more user friendly, so perhaps worth waiting? 🤔
Hi mate I hope you are well Sorry for the late comment I was catching up with f1. This is a class i dont have but always have my eyes Close up it has a few issue but from 3 feet away looks great Your run smooth. The main thing is your happy with then. I think the Caledonian works one i like the most out of them 2 Thank you for sharing your models Keep safe ARP
Hi Adi, Indeed, another championship in the bag for Max, was hoping it would be a closer fight for Lando in the end. I think for the price these are fantastic options. Thanks for watching man.
I quite like these Andrew Barclay locomotives, to the point where I've got three of them in my model collection; two from the original Hattons run and one from Accurascale. I guess the only issue I have with them is the lack of any open space underneath the boiler. One of my ABs happens to be the same as one of the engines seen in this video, namely 'Victory'. The other two are 'Little Barford' (blue with wasp stripes) and 'Coronation' (lined green). It's so bizarre seeing wasp stripes on a steam locomotive.
The one thing I find these need is a stay alive, having owned the original Hattons models for several years. It would have also been nice to improve the scope for sound fitting. Trying to fit sound in the original Hattons model is an exercise in shoehorning, to get a stay alive in as well is quite the challenge! Unfortunately Accurascale weren't able to modify the tooling for this batch, so it is still a really awkward squeeze.
I bought two of these. One of each cylinder size. One blue lined un numbered and the other green lined un numbered. First time I ever bought from accurascale and one of them when placed on the track didn't work. Could hear the motor but no movement. Followed their suggested way to open the loco to fix but it wouldn't come apart as they claimed and the chassis never separated so sent it back for exchange. Not good for my first time buying accurascale and now makes me hesitant with future purchases I've pre ordered
I think that's just an unlucky exception mate - loads of accurascales locos are amazing, I think you just got a 1 off defect loco - at least they tried to help and eventually replaced it :)
@jackstrains4468 there's been a few in various forums and a few on TH-cam with the same issue. Reading the comments on other videos there's been a fair few models affected and not just in one particular livery
@@jackstrains4468 agreed but I don't own the diesels as prefer steam. But apparently even the manor they released has had 50/50 reviews. Hope it's not a trend and that it's just some bad luck as I have wardles and the pannier on order
I'm glad you finally received the shunter and now shunters you wanted. Nice review and great video, Jersey Bill
Cheers JB, they are a fine addition to the collection and will be working hard in the coming future! Keep well as always my friend 😊

Darryl my good sir, you are more than welcome, your channel is an undiscovered gem. Keep well and thanks for your support as always. Hylt
Love the hoodie ! Nice locos and following your new layout build with interest .
Thanks Rus, appreciate it mate!
I like the look of that Caledonia Works loco. Some useful information there. Hylton
Thanks Steve, agreed, definitely my favourite of the two. 😊
@Proper_Chuffed Ideal locomotives for shunting whisky around the site.
@ right? They look so adorable doing some heavy single malt lifting! 😂
@Proper_Chuffed I had the same issue with the size of a 6 pin decoder for a Hornby Terrier loco. In the end, I purchased a Hornby decoder
Nice little engine looks great in red 😊
@@shaunbarclaysentinal70 it does indeed! I prefer the grey personally, but there are so many to choose from! 😂

I’m not a steam man, but these little fellas are strangely appealing. I might have to get one.
Mate, for what you’re doing, at least one in a rusty condition would fit right in!
@ yeah man. Right that’s it, ordering right now.
That was way too easy! 🤣
