Steam Trains in the Fernleigh Tunnel

Steam train driver and fireman James Gray joined Newcastle musicians Gerry Harris and Kate Eyre (from Pat Eyre Duo) in Fernleigh Tunnel. Hear first hand the challenges of wearing respirators (made from tin) to survive the heat circulating in the confined space... back in the 1950"s. Today we enjoy the cool of the tunnel as cyclists and hikers!
