Today I am going to show you how to make fresh evergreen kissing balls that are beautiful and smell amazing! these cost $35 each to buy but you can make them for about $5 or less!
You will need: (Affiliate links used to Consumer Crafts because they had the best prices, like 1/5 of what amazon was charging for the same stuff!)
Floral foam: I used the 2 pack of 4" round disks from the Dollar Tree OR save more money and get this block for $1.27 and cut it in half to make 2! shrsl.com/p013
Velvet ribbon (I got 20 yard spools of 2" on sale for $2 a roll (reg $5) at A.C. Moore because I wanted enough to wrap my porch posts too) shrsl.com/p015

these are gorgeous. i started making these a couple years ago when i got one from home depot. they are expensive. i used fake garland too. if you have tired/ratty garland, cut em up and make some of these. they are unique.

Your porch is lovely and I love the kissing balls! We have a wrap around porch, and in the spring when we went to hang baskets of flowers between each set of posts, we end up needing 9. NINE times 30+ bucks! It was cheaper to put in a greenhouse - one of those Harbor Freight jobbies, and start our own flowers! The only year we ever purchased them for the whole way around was when we hosted our son's wedding reception. :)
It can get pricey!

Very pretty! We have similar porches. My rail is solid though. I think I'll try making at least one of these. My husband rescued some fake Christmas tree branches that fell off someone's truck last summer. Lol I bet you could make a topiary with your system, too. AWESOME! On my list for next year as we have a wrap around porch that would get pricey if I actually decorated it! I'm also snitching the candy cane look on the poles, just to let you know 😉. Next year Christmas done right outside our home!! Thank you for this idea!

you don't need to, you soak the floral foam before you make it and that will keep it fresh (in maine anyway)
