Illustrator Vector Rope Brush Tutorial

  • In this Adobe Illustrator tutorial, I'll discuss how to make a vector rope brush pattern for free. This technique can apply to custom brush patterns as well; there's no need to limit it to just a rope brush. You can use brushes like this to make a border or apply them to any custom shape you want.

    • @CaryHawkins
      @CaryHawkins  3 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @Stoy-boy

    Thank you so much. So how did the rectangle in the background eliminate the gap in the pattern?

    • @CaryHawkins
      @CaryHawkins  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes the "gap" is just a visual effect and isn't really there. This often shows up in pdf files. If you put a layer of color behind it, that can sometimes alleviate the issue.

    I am using CS but none of your align options work for me. What am I doing wrong? The align tool does nothing and moving the point doesn't "snap" to a 90° point, and nor does it remove the arc. I figured out a work around, but I am curious

    • @CaryHawkins
      @CaryHawkins  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I rewatched my video. If you follow my steps, it should work for you. Did you check the "align to:" in the bottom right of your align window? Did you use smart guides to get points to snap? I'm not sure what you mean by removing the arc, please clarify what you are asking there. Use a time stamp if you can.

      Yes, and remove the fill and stroke on it. It needs to be colorless.

    • @CaryHawkins
      @CaryHawkins  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might open up your brush and adjust your clipping mask, if you used one. Or you can try not using a clipping mask and use pathfinder options to cut the brush shape to the exact size you need.

    • @statuselite14
      @statuselite14 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CaryHawkins Do the pathfinder option doesn't work the way yours did. I triple checked my settings and nothing works the way yours did.
