      It is amazing how your livestock looks so good. Being in northern Iowa and we are green with grass and forages 6 months of the year. My horses would starve to death if I moved down there. 😂

    • @jheartquarterhorsesaz
      @jheartquarterhorsesaz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not, they would adjust. I have taken livestock and moved them, it takes them a couple years and they are great at it. The first couple of years they do have a hard time and need supplement

    Amazing how these horses can protect their foul's from preditor's!! I just saw "I am a survivor" where cyotees attacked the heard leader of the goats not even 1 km from the house, the lights,... This little goat was a hero: during daytime the coyotes attacked or only one and he fought them untill all other's from the herd were in safety.
    I know horses are bigger,..but foul's, especially new born's,...you know what I mean. When I think about some horses here being in boxes and stables, they would never be able to protect a herd or themselves- I think or does the instinct come through? 🙋‍♀️❤️🇦🇹🐎

    • @jheartquarterhorsesaz
      @jheartquarterhorsesaz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This instinct comes into play with herd animals. I have seen it in horses. I have also seen it in my cow herds. Thanks for the input. I appreciate your thoughts.

    • @horse-lover68
      @horse-lover68 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jheartquarterhorsesaz Thank you!! Yes to watch cow's is amazing, too. Here in the flatland of Austria we do not have cow's, the only one's I saw as kid where their whole life in a stable (terrible)- so we began to learn that cow's are stupid. No they are not, but I don't have to tell you this. Thank you for your wonderful videos!!🙋‍♀️❤️🇦🇹🐎

    • @jheartquarterhorsesaz
      @jheartquarterhorsesaz  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Wow learn something everyday! Thanks for sharing. I’m not used to cows penned up. That was a learning moment.

    • @horse-lover68
      @horse-lover68 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jheartquarterhorsesaz That was in the past from where I am (Burgenland) in Austria but it is a huge problem. The gov has it's finger's in the meat and milk prize and the cow holder's get almost nothing. So from the surviving point of view they were forced to put 100 cow's in a stable for 60. I hope this is illegal now, we had so many protest's bc of this. And in the mountain area's they are free in here's grasing. Some stupid tourist's who don't know that this is all private property and only bc the people want support their local friends ways are open with 100 sign's:" Leave the animals alone, do NOT take dog's with you,.."- Yes there was a deadly accident with a woman and her dog a few year's ago. The dis barked, the cow's had calves and attacked. The woman did not let go of the leech and was dead.
      And the cow owner had to pay 100.000€ to the family 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️.
      After this the cow and land owner's said they will not let anybody go up the mountain anymore and for what do the tourist's need their dog's with them.
      This was a few year's ago and every summer the fight beginn's again: the area need's tourism but they don't listen. I think they made all together a fond and everyone put money inside if such a thing should happen again and the judge being the same idiot like with that woman from Germany.
      Another story for you. If it get's to much, tell me, it is ok. 🙋‍♀️❤️❤️🇦🇹🐎

    Besides Trigger and Czar (pre-injury...best wishes that changes w full recovery), are any of the studs ridden regulary -- whether pleasure, compentition or ranchin'' -- or are they pretty much "retired" for breeding only (like the mares)

    • @jheartquarterhorsesaz
      @jheartquarterhorsesaz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Trigger is ridden a lot. Monster is ridden a lot. RKR is ridden also. Mr. Az was ridden a lot before he died. All the young stuff are ridden a lot. The old men are not.

    Do you switch the studs around or do they always stay with the same mares. If they are switched around, how often? Great content. 👍

    • @jheartquarterhorsesaz
      @jheartquarterhorsesaz  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We do switch some and some stay the same. Just depends on the off spring.
