I read half the script. And I recently rewatch that clip from the evening with Kevin Smith where he talks about it. I am so excited to find this I'm about to go in a long road trip tomorrow thank you so freaking much everybody who put this together.
Great one. It was based on the Kevin Smith draft. When it had the Batman cameo, It read that and pictured Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, and George Clooney in it.
I've listened to this about three or four times and I really enjoyed this, Kevin Smith is a really great storyteller, Kevin script is so much better than a second script that I listened to, this had a more action-packed and satisfying story, and the guy who portrays Nicolas Cage in this sounds very close to him, while listening to this I had to remember the concept art as well as the designs for The eradicator brainiac, as well as Nicolas Cage is Superman suit designs and then the rest I have to play out in my mind to really get the full picture of what this movie would have looked like, and I think this movie would have been a huge hit, if only the Warner brother people was willing to take a risk if they were willing to do that the most likely this movie would have been made, but to my understanding if Superman lives was made then we wouldn't have never gotten Superman returns in 2006, Superman was always my number one favorite DC superhero, I've always looked up to him I've always liked everything about him everything that he's about and what he represents, I don't care what people say I think this movie would have been great.
@@NEUVERSECREATIVE you're very welcome 😉 again it's such a shame that we never got to see this movie, I'm sure a lot of people are aware but for those that aren't, Nicolas Cage actually did get a chance to play Superman! But instead he actually voiced him in a teen Titans Go episode, who knows, maybe they might do an animated version of Superman lives where cage my voice his version of Superman, I guess we can only hope.
Yeah, but he told Warner Bros. about the Kevin Smith draft, "I don't wanna do that script. I wanna do my version of Superman." So, he had Wesley Strick to do it just that. It had been lied dormant for a couple of years, until one day, they'll do a comic book mini-series based on Superman Lives.
10:55 I read this script so I know some lines were changed. I recall Lex saying "Pajama clad ass" I do love the story though. It's very well written. Smith used to be pretty damn good.
This is great.. wish they made this in the 97 would have been great. Just what we needed. Still would have like someone else instead of Nicholas cage but I'll take it
Well you should watch Kevin Smith explain what happened when it was being preproduced. The level of idiocy, insincerity, and ignorance in Hollywood is what killed this movie.
This is great. I've always wanted a channel that dedicated to these topics and turned scripts into audio books. For a person who has a hard time with comprehending these videos are great
@@ScaredStraightProductions I gotcha! I know some people that simply cannot retain, or follow along to what they read! I'm really glad you can enjoy these and other audiobooks! There's a TON of good comic audiobooks on here!
VERY enjoyable and thanks SO MUCH for posting. So this was BEFORE the Dan Gilroy version (which you've also graciously put up)? And I know Nicolas Cage as Superman (or at time, Owen Wilson 😉), but do you know what OTHER actors they had in mind? I think Sandra Bulloch as Lois, but not sure beyond THAT.
Hi! Thanks for the kind words! Yes, Sandra Bullock was definitely on the shortlist for Lois Lane. When Tim Burton came on board, Christopher Walken was his choice for Brainiac and Chris Rock was his choice for Jimmy Olsen. And Kevin Spacey was their top choice for Lex.
@@NEUVERSECREATIVE Thanks again. And another question please while I'm at it. LOVE that you also put these audiobooks up as podcast. Why ONLY the long version ones? I see here on your TH-cam page you have multiple "short-stories" as well. And NOT trying to be a pain in the butt, just an appreciative fan of what you've done/doing! 😀
@@robnyt9935 Good question! My dad asks me about this all the time, haha. At the moment, I feel like it might be silly to post a bunch of short stories as podcasts, however, I've toyed with the idea of posting a collection of short stories as one podcast.
We are trying to roll out with new content as quickly as we can, but our current production probably won't roll out until late October at the earliest.

@@NEUVERSECREATIVE Np. How's that Batman 3 audio drama coming along, I've heard it has not been released yet?
I would use mostly Smith's version but have some elements of both Strick's and Gilroy's later drafts.
Oh, and I'm writing a fan novelization of Superman Lives, but based on the drafts by Kevin Smith, Wesley Strick, and Dan Gilroy.
Honestly, Nic Cage’s voice would really fit Superman, there’s a hint of a Midwestern accent in there
