Why I believe mondo's 'motive' wasnt the worst/bad. Mondo was worried about the group finding out it was because of him that daiya died. Why is it bad for them to find out? Because his brother formed the group with his hardwork and was probably like family. And, the group members constantly mentioned that mondo is only taking over because he was the little brother, Number 2. So to have the group find out daiya died for mondo would cause the group to fall apart as they would think "mondo was so weak his brother had to save him. Why would we want someone like him being the leader of the group?", which would either cause the group to disband or argue to find a leader within them. So Mondo was obviously going through a tough time, deciding whether he should keep his promise to Taka or to take a classmate's life to keep the secret from getting to the gang. As he was going through this, he relived his brother dying, causing his guilt to slowly take over. Then Chihiro approaches him. Mondo then sees how strong Chihiro was to try and overcome his weakness unlike him, who carried a lot of guilt for a long time. Chihiro also mentioned that he wanted to be strong like mondo and that he admired his strength, making Mondo feel even worse. He was at his mental breaking point and started to mix chihiros words up, causing him to believe chihiro was saying he was weak. Due to his insane amount of guilt and the multiple promises he vowed to keep probably messed with him which would explain why he was blinded with rage and accidently killed chihiro.
okAY so quick thing i was thinking about. mondo didnt kill him in cold blood. he states that he has n o memory of actually killing chiririo or even picking up the murder weapon. he literally blacks out and wakes back up with him dead on the floor. yes, he still killed him, but apparently that wasnt on purpose else he’d remember it, right?

@@douellah True, but it was a pretty huge part of the trial and it wouldn’t have taken that long to explain it so idk I just find it weird they decided to skip it
@Mio Akiyama But it was a pretty big part of the trial, this part literally changed everything I don’t see why they would disclude it, even with such a small time frame. They would’ve had to include something so big
@Mio Akiyama I mean- it would’ve taken like 5 minutes to explain Byakuya could say something, Makoto could fact check that then realize he adjusted the crime scene Byakuya can say he isn’t revealing the killer and move on
I feel like adding a few minutes wouldn’t hurt too much, yes animation takes a long time but consider how much budget this company had On a more non-debate note: I can’t control the company’s decisions so for whatever reason they left it out (which as you said, is probably time) I can understand (despite what I said about adding a few minutes) I just find it funny how the anime not including that part made Byakuya seem somewhat more likable and less..uh-… a di-
I'm surprised Celeste didn't murder someone before Mondo did. If the "truth" was going to be revealed, I feel like her lies would be revealed and that would jeopardize the persona she created for herself.
(For the record, I have not read the manga or seen the anime adaptation, so this is solely based on what I saw of Celeste in the game itself) (Spoilers ahead for the third chapter of THH) Considering how she (probably) actually felt about being trapped inside the school - she hated every minute of it, but never let on until the third trial - it _is_ rather surprising that she didn't actually try anything in the first or second chapters. Instead, she consistently urged the others to try to make the best of the situation and acted like she herself was perfectly content with it. In my view, that indicates there was _something_ that held her back from trying to "graduate" earlier: that something - in my opinion, anyway - may have been that she was just waiting for a motive that wouldn't call her persona into question. Had she acted on either of the first two motives - which were both _extremely_ personal - she'd already have problems keeping her real self hidden afterward: acting on the first motive wouldn't match up with her cold, calm demeanor up to that point, while acting on the second would automatically tell everyone else just how serious her secret was. From either of those points, it would only be a matter of time before someone figured out that she wasn't what she seemed to be, and her whole persona would fall apart from there. However, the third motive - a large sum of money for the one who managed to "graduate" - was different. Unlike the first two, that motive was impersonal enough that she likely felt she could act on it without worrying too much about her persona falling apart, even if she got caught during the trial for her actions. Of course, she'd been wrong about that - Hifumi's last words ended up being what made the other survivors realize her persona was no more than a mask - but the motive she'd acted on hadn't hurt her masquerade in the slightest, which was exactly what she'd likely hoped for.
@@user-kx3iu2ps3y (THH Chapter 3 spoilers) I'm not so sure she _knew_ that would happen, though. I mean, if you were in her shoes at that point in the story, would you expect your victim to wake up at all from a seemingly fatal blow, much less be coherent enough for long enough to actually name any names before dying? Probably not. Besides, the two already had more concrete pieces of "evidence" they were using to frame Yasuhiro, like the staged photo and the planted suit blueprints. However, that possibility - however unlikely it may have seemed at the time - may still have factored into why the two specifically chose to frame Yasuhiro rather than, say, Aoi for the murder spree.
Holy fuck I just realised something. SPOILERS FOR FINAL CHAPTER In order for Junko to know all of those secrets, the class had probably all told each other their secrets before their memories were erased. Yup and all those memories erased. Friendships wiped away. Trauma’s reawakened. That’s why I genuinely can’t like Junko no matter how funny her lines are or how goofy she is.
