    Can't really say I loved it, I was there twice on the box, between the Grüne hogs and how miserable the weather was every time I was there which was either raining or snowing or both, I'd have to say no thank you. Thank God it was just for a rotation and then 🚍 back to Berlin. This was from 92-94.

    Also if you don't like the housing on post there are great little towns right outside the gates. Not even 5 minutes away.

    Housing is bad. My dad was a 19D and retired there. We ended up living in Regensburg which was about 30 min away. Housing is bad unless you get the apartments behind the schools. They're pretty big and are like 4 bedrooms.

    Movie theater is trash, it gets lonely here and the gym and px oh man...

    • @tomservo5347
      @tomservo5347 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL yes the theater was crap. Went to see one movie and they started playing the wrong one for 20 minutes-stopped it then played the right one. The whole time the sound cut in and out and the film had bad spots. Dirty inside also. Was there 40 days back in 2000, 30 of them in the field. We cleared out the Popeye's when we came back from the field because we smelled so bad.
      The countryside is beautiful but wow does the base suck.

      The Popeyes was abandoned a year later when I was there. You could tell it was a Popeyes after looking at it for a few minutes.

    I am about to go over there in the spring to 1/4 IN. I have been to Germany before and trained in Hohenfels but only been stationed in Graf and Vilseck. Can anyone tell me how housing is? or anyone that has been in 1/4 IN?

    The landscape is beautiful. The base itself is pretty run down.

    • @curtisackenbrack2669

      Why would you say the installation is “pretty run down”? I was assigned to 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry/1/4th INF (OPFOR), one of the tenant units on Hohenfels from 2007 to 2012, and I found it to be a well maintained installation. I was all around Hohenfels during my time there with the exception of the airfield, and I found it to be comparable to most other U.S. Army installations I’ve served on, or visited over the years. But I respect your opinion of it, regardless. Have a good day.
