Speedtree VFX is still the KING for really advanced photoreal vegetation. It's a pain to learn but so worth it. ST has a way to use photogrammetry scans as part of your builds, that is absolutely crucial for photoreal visualisation (even though the workflow is really weird and far from user-friendly).
@@TopChannel1on1 if it can displace meshes better than speed tree and isn't limited to just one material per node then it's already a win, speed tree displacement is awful lol.
I'm having a problem exporting animated palm trees. I tried .FBX and .abc files. With .abc I can import in to Blender but I can't add textures later on. With FBX I'm getting a warning that FBX don't support mirror tiling and that it will switch to repeat. I'm able to import in to Blender but I don't get the wind animation. Any clues?
█When you make a view or show something, enlarge your interface or lower the resolution of your screen so we see the letters bigger so you don't see anything, only small letters Only you see and even if you put a higher resolution on the video only you see. @@TopChannel1on1 I tried downloading it but got completely confused with all the options but not the one that's the program itself. Is there a direct download to get to the example you showed us? I purchased Speed tree a time ago and it stop working. I reached out to them and got no support on the app at all.
I personally think they are doing this bcz of AI. Since in near future AI to 3d will become even better and many people wouldnt want to buy something like this. anyway its really amazing
nah they where bought out by some utility company that designs sewage, water and electric grids, i think they have other software they the company wanted and some they dint need, so they made that free
if you wanna do it for fun, go for it, but if you need to make a living with 3D, then good luck finding a client who is willing to pay you to model every single tree instead of just using existing ones or create procedural ones. economically speaking, doing them yourself is stupid.
@@carlosmarx2380I worked at a AAA VFX studio and on one of my more recent projects I was making trees in speed tree for months. Definitely not useless to know. It’s not going to get you a job on its own but it’s a useful alill
What a weird thing to say. Nobody is going to sit there and hand-model a forest of trees, that's why tools like this exist. You still need to have good modeling skills.
Just an FYI. You will need 19GB of space for all files. Download both 2023 and 2024 versions. 2023 is stable while 2024 is mostly stable.
😦

i have used it before, its actually not that complicated to learn but there are alot of things to learn thats the problem
this is huge for a part time 3d visualizer like me. thank you for the info. subscribed.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for letting us know about these amazing free tools 😀
You are so welcome!
this is going to speed up alot of level creation for me :3 thanks :>
Is there a way to export the plant animation like wind and import it in Blender?
Bentley purchased E-On Software, the makers of Vue and Plant Factory. Bentley did not create or design the software. Just so everyone is clear.
Can the tree be animated?
Very cool info thanks. Watching you struggle to bend the Banana tree in real time was kinda funny ngl tho
hehehhe, it happens all the time,
error not working exporting in blender when i change length parameters
absolutely amazing♥♥
Not clear if it runs on a Mac, could you please advise, thanks
This amazing and damn AWESOME !!😍
It's delicious when resources like these are freeeee!
🤩
True
can you export into Unity with the shader?
is there a way to use this in Blender?
Wow!!! Speedtree, but lite version!
i would say semi lite, speedtree just produces better quality but functionality is nearly the same
@@TopChannel1on1 Ah yeah...
@@TopChannel1on1 I'll use assets from PlantCatalog for far away trees like forest, but for close ups, Speedtree is the choice.
@@cg.man_aka_kevin like a wise man
The question is does it generate consistent LODs. One of the big advantages of ST is dithering LODs.
Omfg thank you so much!!
Glad ya like it
The question is: can we use the the plants commercially?
yes. but you cannot resell the asset.
@@theubiquitousanomaly5112can we sell games that use these trees?
Hows this work for photogrammetry workflows, Speedtree chugs and cant handle modern nanite workflows.
It's not upto date as speedtree so I don't think it would be better
@@TopChannel1on1 thanks for the reply, I'll sub and follow the development

how high poly are these models? Just wondering if they are usable in real time rendering aplications
you can control the final polycount
This is cool but it seems a bit dated now. They textures look very low res. The megascans look a lot better these days.
I feel like there is a better geo nodes based tool for blender
It is bit u can load your own textures
True but this has more built in functionality
Speedtree is better for plant genereation.
@@UlfricStromcloak but its pricey as well
thanks for the video- is it possible to keyframe the movement of the trees or other parts of the tree?
i dont think so, but there is a growth node

That thumbnail, though... 😉
In the free version, can you export to anything - like Unreal?
yes you can, you can export different exchange formats supported by unreal, blender, c4d, unity and others
Would this work in wine or linux?
Amazing. Thanks for this

So is this Speed Tree or something better?
something free, but not speed tree

Speedtree is still better for realism, this tool now beeing free is goated for games though
awesome
The interface looks so small. Reduce your desktop res when making videos
yah i noticed that too, now increased my font size
Better than SpeedTree?I doubt it
Hi if you get some spare time, could you please try and make a high fantasy tree, like a mysterious giant overgrown tree with huge roots, vines, etc.
will see what i can do
is banana tree available?
yes just check the catalog
no way
Linux?😒
Free but not free to use.
