      we cooked a couple of fatties. They were delicious. No fillets - cooked the whole fish and ate them with fingers : )

    If you are serious about keeping your feet warm get some Sorel pac boots. Only one pair of sox required so you are not cutting off your circulation due to tight fit in your boots which keeps you warmer. That is what I use for deer hunting when having to sit still for hours and stay warm. I even wear them when I go trout fishing on April opening day since it is usually cold the first weekend of April. I have a pair I bought in 1982 and still use around deer camp during December deer season. I use a newer pair for actual field use. Some pac boots are rated down to -75 degrees F. Damn nice crappie too.

      i have a pair that looks exactly like them. I will show them when i go to my first perch video. Maybe something is wrong with my feet. they are cold anyway..

      Rule number one. Do not cut off your circulation with tight fitting shoes with too many socks. Sorel Pac boots have a 9 millimeter thick wool/felt foil liner for insulation and reflection of heat. They are worth the $160 to $200 price tag. I am talking about the Sorel Classic Caribou. Liners are replaceable too.

    Your detailed reviews are the absolute best, but I enjoy these fishing videos as well. I remember you did a detailed breakdown of your perch dropshotting rigs, and it would great if you could do a similar on-the-table breakdown of your float fishing rigs.

      ah.. i promised that so many times... I got engaged with a factory to produce my own float, because i dont like anything sold here in united states. The factory turned out to be BS and i got scammed. But i had been keeping my float rig videos for when i get my own float out.. Still dont know when that is gona happen. Appreciate the interest though!

    Good morning Victor. I see the Berkley Gulp minnows in the 1 inch size do well for Crappie in the fall. They do seem to break down kind of easy so you have to change them out often. You certainly had what they wanted today. Hey by the way that is really helpful when you add those screen shots of what your using. Makes it easy to grab all the details if you want to order them. If you mentioned what the water level was there I missed it. If you see my post can you let me know what the water depth was. Also, that black crappie was a tank. Beautiful fish.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      noted all points. I already have several other videos recorded, so wont be able to do mention things like water level, but its a good thing to mention, even for my own records. I watch my own videos to see how i was doing on a particular spot last year..

      @@ifishcatfish That makes sense. I don't have a boat so I bank fish right now. I was thinking about bundleing up and seeing if I could catch a few today. It's snowing at my house here in Ohio. I would imagine my best bet is deeper water and fish under the float as you did. I bet most of the Crappie aren't towards the shallow side of our reservoir. I have decided to buy a Kayak in the Spring. I want a boat but don't ever get enough time to fish to where that would be worth my investment. Maybe in a couple years when I retire. I'm still fishing that same combo you have there and you are right. That is a perfect set up.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      make sure u have something to measure water temps. If they are above 45 sometimes you can find them pretty shallow, when they go chasing shad, and bite can be amazing. If temp drops under 45 i would say its too late for float. You are gona need a swimbait that you can cast far and access to deep water with structure. Dams with rip rap come to mind.

    Nice video. Some of those crappie were a really nice size. Have you looked at some of the other smaller Nikko soft plastics? They have a mayfly, stonefly, caddisfly, and maggot to name a few. Probably not the best lures for this time of year, but maybe next summer.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i did, but if there is no action, whats the point? I can just use trout magnet. Trout magnet is special for me. American Classic. No action. YOU need to make it work!

    I enjoy your methodical approach and fishing knowledge. Thanks for sharing. Looks like you are using two weights? Also what line are you using?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i will make a video about my float rig one day. The weights I use are absolutely unnecessary. I just hate the look of a huge jig head when the nikko worm itself is so thing. I don't want the hook to stick out, so i use a very small jighead to keep the size of the head down, and then add whatever weight i need on top. This is unnecessary and kills sensitivity of the float, but i have this paranoia that fish can see the head of the jig head and i can dissuade some of them. I used to do just fine without these weights..

      @@ifishcatfish I would like to see that video. I am actually watching all your float fishing videos right now trying to gain some insight into your setup. Recently I have tried some float fishing with fluorocarbon mainline and this was a mistake, if there is enough line sinking it actually pulls down my float. I'm curious if you have any floating main line recommendations.

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      any monofilament will float enough. I like Varivas mono, but its too expensive and not necessary. I don't cast the float and leave it in the rod holder. I always continuously twitch it, so the line really doesn't have time to sink. But i do use mono, just in case..

    Good on you for being out there to fish despite the cold. On another note, have you ever tried the zippo hand warmer? It helps so much! (actually, the Zippo brand sucks, the Peacock brand is 10x better but a little more expensive).

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i have some little hotties - i think they are similar. Its kind of a hassle to put them and the effect is minimal. Maybe peacock is better..

  • @Henry-xh8ec

    I agree on fileting a small fish. You lose so much eat if you filet them.
    I usually scale and cut off the heads.
    Then grill, bake or fry them. Some good eating

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yep. And there is some great satisfaction if you can clean the skeleton perfect without disturbing it : ). It really helps u know how to fillet them, if u decide to do so

    Enjoyed another video. Did you change reels during the filming? The spool on the Legalis was different than later on in the video. Was it a different reel?

    • @ifishcatfish
      @ifishcatfish  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good catch. I just fish with two rods. One with trout magnet and one with Nikko and sometimes a third rod with Cultiva. So i did not change reels, just swappin rods like the bass guys
