    I love the rustler vxl 4×4 simply for how tough & how much abuse they can handle. Plus being a quadriplegic things kinda got to be easy for me to access to fix. Simplicity is key. Have mine upgraded a little so its faster & stronger 💪

I got back into this a couple months ago after 30 yrs off. slash ultimate 4x4, rustler 2wd vxl cuz I broke the slash and have to rebuild/upgrade, broke that and got an e-revo. only broke 1 link on the revo and havent again since putting 80mm straps on back. I've been mulling over getting a Arrma Kraton 6S or the E Revo 2.0. Something about Traxxas has that Apple like allure to it. Its not the best and its not the worst, but you do pay more some how down the line for it vs its competitors.
    Think I'll get the Kraton 6S 1st and pick up a E Revo 2.0 black as a shelf queen.

    I had the older rustler and a older revo. They’re both a lot of fun in their own ways despite being relatively similar. The revo handles better and it a lot of fun on rough terrain but man it’s a PITA to work on. The rustler is sort of the jack of all trades master of none, it can do whatever you want for the most part and it’s easier/cheaper to work on. I’d be happy with either

    • @KTMcaptain

      Linkage shocks also change the leverage the shock has over the suspension based off travel position. Meaning you get a softer shock and spring in the beginning and it hardens up before it bottoms out. Motorcycles have used this for decades.

I SMASH the thing. 20-30 foot jumps at the BMX park all day. 10-15 jumps to straight FLATS. nothing broken . stock shock caps, everything totally fine. I run on 3S as well...only mod is the ESC fan. don't let the Arrma fan boys convince you Traxxas is somehow less robust.... I got the stampede 4x4 and the e revo. Got the revo brand new for 500. Id take the revo by far over the stampede. Revo has upgraded axles, has a nice hex design for the wheels, they wont ever circle out like several of my stampede wheels did. Revo can take 3s lipos alot better than the stampede. Revo is bigger and bigger is definitely more fun. Especially that tire size for off roading and snow. So more ground clearance if you stiff up your shocks

    I just bought the E-Revo 2.0, and was sad to see that my existing 3S batteries do not fit (too thick), so I'm waiting on new batteries to come in from Traxxas. Just another thing for people to take into account when buying these, their existing batteries might not fit as they only take the thinner packs.
    It's really hard to fully appreciate the size difference on video; it's something you really have to see to appreciate. I really can't wait to get those batteries in so I can start using this beast! My Rustler VXL really couldn't handle my back yard as it's a bit too bumpy, and the chassis sits too low. I'm not planning on doing any jumping, so I'm hoping the E-Revo will hold up well.

    Ok so I am thinking about getting an rc car, but I am kind of new to it. I am between the erevo and the rustler. I am leaning toward the erevo, but really don’t want to be fixing things all the time. I really like the features on the erevo though! Any advice on which I should purchase? I’ve heard the erevo is pretty durable with the brace and limiting straps.

    I have the 2.0 and my wife has the rustler 4x4. Theyre both great rigs. Shes only broken an axle carrier and ive only broken the spoiler mount. Theyre both great fun but, my choice is the 2.0 every time. I love the size and the power. But, i did just pick up a used 4x4 slash that im gonna put the stock 2.0 power system into... I might create a new favorite, lol

      Adam Bahnsen I just did that with my slash 4x4 it’s plenty fast on 3s with a 17 tooth pinion for bashing can’t imagine it on 6s.... their are some supporting mods you weld need to consider looking into at that much power diffs and center drive shaft and universal axles motor I’d say a aluminum motor mount ... but it is a straight drop in you would just need to relocate the radio box to the front the vxl3s system just can’t take the heat from the gearing is like to use it hit 200F in ten minutes on the 17tooth 32p

    As well as the E-Revo runs on 6s, compared to the Rustler which is quite fast for its size. Comparing prices etc, the Rustler 2WD VXL is now my main RC, and I just love these machines man.

      would you say the rustler is good to begin with?

    • @arthurhexeberg1533
      @arthurhexeberg1533 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fabuncian : Yes I would, its easy to drive, has A LOT of spare parts which is good to begin with, its easier to repair 2WD vehicles, and the car is worth its money in my opinion. If I was a beginner, I would go for the brushed version, because it will take more damage before anything brakes. Also, you could eventually switch to the brushless motor when you feel ready/experienced. The difference is huge on this car.

    I’m going to stick with the Rustler. Lots of parts transfer to Slash (and rally) and Stampede, which I also have. I can have diffs out in less than 5 minutes. Easy to work on, inexpensive (bought very lightly used for $200 less than new), still plenty fast for my purposes, perfect.

    Many years ago, I paid over $700 on a gen1 e-revo(still bitter about the low price of the gen2). I don't have the chassis brace or limiting straps, and i'm still running the stock servos that were in it when I bought it. Every part you claimed to have to replace, I haven't on mine. I'm running much larger proline trencher tires than stock gen1(about same size as gen2), I've gone through a few rear ring and pinion gears(the gen2's are much larger so shouldn't be an issue), I broke all the stock plastic axles, and the traxxas steel axles. I'm now running mip axles and have had no issues. I also managed to break a traxxas rear spool within 5 minutes of driving in the yard.
    Some of us are into the hobby because we like working on things, so the complexity of the e-revo over the rustler is a win for the e-revo to me. I bought a trx-4 crawler kit just to build, built it in a morning, have barely played with it, and am saving to buy a sport kit to assemble.
    I work on full size cars both as a job and hobby, so tinkering with much smaller scale things at a fraction of the cost is enjoyable for me. When the big car breaks at the track, it's hundreds or thousands of dollars. When the rc breaks, its usually less than fifty dollars.
    Also you should see dude perfects videos of them jumping an e-revo, theirs seemed to have held up fine in stock form on massive jumps.

    • @outsourcedrc
      @outsourcedrc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your V1 E Revo sounds a lot like mine. I'm still running stock sevos on it.
      Dude Perfect do break their E Revos. If you watch, you can see that sometimes they do things like break A Arms when they land. You can see the wheels dangling. They edit the videos to look awesome, not to be reality.

    • @cam872k3
      @cam872k3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@outsourcedrc I personally haven't done any huge jumps. Even when I do jumps like in your video, I crank up the springs for more ride height to try to get more cushion before it bottoms out.
      I broke an a-arm shortly after buying mine, but it was because I hit a curb at an angle where the arm contacted the curb directly, I replaced the arms with rpm ones.
      I'm glad you did this video, as I am considering getting a gen2 revo, or a rustler 4x4. I want both, but the boss is in charge of the money, and she won't let me buy both at once. I tried telling her that it would be hers, but she wasn't buying that.

    9:00 doesn’t the erevo vxl6s bec support 10 amps? My mamba x 8amp bec has no issue driving two high torque servos on my 4 wheel steer Capra rock crawling. Heck, the front servo can lift the whole buggy if I hook the tire just right on a ledge.
    .
    Monster servos barely draw 5+ amps at high voltage stalled.
