    My S2v insulated boots failed in less than 1 year. The inside sole collapsed around the cleats and it felt like walking on rocks. I could feel every cleat under my feet. Rocky is replacing them but I am selling them promptly and buying some Danner boots. EVA material is soft but if you are serious about needing a boot that has real support, you need a rubber sole. EVA could be made better with a chemistry change and maybe this was a screw-up during manufacturing, but it did happen to me. Every manufacturer has different chemistry to make them softer and Rocky did a great job in doing so. If you are an officer in the military and spend most days tiddly winking around garrison them this boot is for you. If you are in the field get something else.

      Robert S,Former 10th Special Forces Group,ABN...KICK-ASS ASSESSMENT!!! We NEED more former AND current Military personnel to weigh in on these"flashy"gymshoe-combat boots.! Nothing personal to the fad,but NIKE, UNDER ARMOUR, ADIDAS haven't proven themselves as reputable for Soldiers and Marines alike;thus,your critique proves invaluable,thanks!!!

    These boots are my all day hiking in the desert prospecting for gold and gemstones boots. Last time out a Wyoming rattlesnake hit the left boot twice on the outside about ankle high and never penetrated, so, good for fast roping and for taking on small rattlesnakes.

    Will you guys ever make a non-insulated version of the Gore-Tex waterproof boot, as opposed to the walk em dry system? I wanted to pick up a pair, but it would be a pain to wear them in hot weather. Would be cool if you looked into a non-insulated gore-tex version of this boot.

    • @varun009
      @varun009 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If ypyre walking through ankle deep puddles, you may want that. But goretex just doesn't hold up. They're not truly waterproof, at least not for very long. These boots will outlast the liner, and if you're planning on wading through a river crossing, last thing you want to have to do is empty out yoyr boots every time they get filled.

    How is the toe box area of this boot? Is there room for your toes to wiggle around?

    • @edw2029

      Yes

  • @sergeysurov3634
    @sergeysurov3634 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    There should be a finger’s width of space between your toes and the tip of the shoe so that i can wriggle them freely. Approximately 0.39-0.59 inches. This is important on descents, otherwise your toes will bump into the front of the shoe. Does the size 12.5 meet this requirement? Is this stock taken into account in the manufacture of boots or do you need to buy 1-1.5 sizes larger? My foot is 30.5 cm.

      Get a pair of carolinas, the merrell moab or any pair of salomans. These are great for military applications but not really great at any one thing. If yoy can afford to shell out $600, get a pair of White's.

    What’s the difference between leather insteps and super fabric insteps? I have the green pair already but I bought a second pair in coyote. Are they going be different?

    • @rockyboot
      @rockyboot  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The difference is just that super fabric instep panel has a coating on top of the Cordura nylon to prolong the boot during fast roping, versus an all leather instep. If you provide the style numbers for both I can look them up.

    • @toneverdieagain130
      @toneverdieagain130 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rocky Boots thank you for replying! I have a pair of the 103 already but I got a pair of the RK050. On the website they look pretty much the same just different color I’m guessing? The 103 is a lot less expensive than the RK050 so I still have my doubts that they are not different.

    • @rockyboot
      @rockyboot  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The boots are the same in construction and materials. The 103 style in sage green has been discontinued, that's the reason for the price difference. The Coyote is the new DOD standard. Enjoy the new boots!

    The jew Philippine combat boot called the "kubar" seems to be a straight-up rip-off off the S2V. Can't find any information on the company so I'm not sure if these are being manufactured under lisence or just a shit copy. Haven't been able to try them.
