New subscriber here. Thanks for this video as I will be down there in 2 weeks. I plan on hanging out for 3 months to learn how do wing foil. I can't wait to try the casado! Thanks again!
@@KINGTHEYORKIE just a dive through, I haven’t really hung out up that way except a day in Alajuela.. I need someone that knows the area to show me around
Cow tongue is awesome . . you've probably had and didn't know it. Typically it's boiled then braised . . it can be an all day thing cooking it until it's tender. You should see if they have cachete too . . cow cheeks.
nice marketplace...wow, that was a good price for those plates (casdao)...need to put some colons in that there wallet ya got...very nice video..good to see different areas that you see daily
Oh my! Thanks for sharing that video. As I saw that’s a bus port, correct? Does most buses go there? Reason why I’m asking is when we go there to live we won’t be having a car, so we have to depend on the buses. Thanks again Chenzarica
That is a bargain. Here in Downtown SJ it would be double that price. A simple blue plate special/casado for lunch 3400 colones includes a drink. Chenzaloon living the dream. Cheers.
Lengua tacos have definitely been more popular, even here in Oregon every taco shop has the option.. Also fried chicken is good just about everywhere too, japan and Korea (never been) have a unique take on it, their is alot of Asians here too, everyone loves fried chicken! lol im a flexatarion which means i eat meat a couple times a month and i always love me some fried chicken
Next you will be trying chicken feet soup. My wife loves it but I'm not a fan. She chased me around the house with the foot and gave me the finger 🖕😂 Good times being married to a Tica 🎉 PURA VIDA 🌴
We found the food in the markets were by far the best and we picked the ones with locals eating at spoke some Spanish had a laugh with the staff and got great food and service at very good prices .Sorry to say we noticed quite a few Americans and avoided where they were as they were very loud and not all that polite either, the locals how ever loved to chat with us us trying out our Spanish and them trying out there English we got lots of free sample food with our meal this way as they wanted us to try it all and we will try any thing .and we never got a dodgy tummy in 7 weeks.
Chenz, that Casado with fried chicken looked delicious, and the price was very fair. Very good deal and very good video Thanks for sharing this info, bro

Hello from Nandayure CARMONA Guanacaste, old home Fort Lauderdale South Florida, Hey Brother your 100%,PURA VIDA, TICO, NOW, 👍, like me a Tico now relaxing and enjoying life letting EVERYTHING FOR MAÑANA TOMORROW LIFE,
Looking forward to that cup from your stand. We are always up for a good cup of coffee, here in the Land of Coffee. We will be in touch so that can happen. We will continue to rep your channel. Keep doing what you do. Pura Vida!
Yes, I was awaken as kid as my Costa Rican mother slammed Tongue vs the kitchen counter. Been awhile, but so expensive. My taco place charges double for a tongue taco. It's worth it.
Yes, my parents ate 'cow tongue' often. Mostly, they would wash it well then boil it for about two hours then take it out and let it cool before you remove the outer thick skin (It will peal off easily.) Then you slice it and put it in the refrigerator for sandwiches or if you want you can place it in a skillet - add garlic and other seasonings to quick fry it and give it a crispy outer texture to eat singularly as a meat dish. Every 'large-eske' town had a similar Mercado near a bus station in Central America. The perimeter was always food and the interior sold other goods like luggage, etc. I found the craziest and odd stuff in the middle. If you REALLY need something different - you can get to know the people and they will find if for you. You might have to come back next weekend - but they will have it for you! I had more luck in San Jose' than other towns because it was the capitol and more people came through on a regular basis. I think the least expensive dish I had in Costa Rica was a rice dish with horse meat for about a dollar (500 colon).
I think ill skip the horse meat lol! you are right, you can find some of the most random stuff there.. and if they dont have it.. they can get it! :) Pura Vida my friend!!
@@Chenzaloon Yea, horse meat taste a lot like beef - just a little tougher. I didn't even know it was horse until about the third time I had it and inquired. Perhaps it simply needed to be cooked a little slower. Not something I sought out nor did I eat it again afterwards. You are right! Pura Vida!
