This is a story about Irish King Lir his sons and daughters and a time of paganism before St Patrick brought religion to Irelands Shores. It's better known as The children of Lir. It's why swans are so loved and respected in Ireland.
Love the story. I remember a version of this tale, where one of the brothers is left with one wing instead of an arm. She hadn't been able to complete all of them in time. One had only one sleeve instead of two.

A lovely story, thank you, Thomas. I can compare mamy aspects of this story to my own life journey & see the similarities - obviously looking beyond & behind the actual story - i have waited many years before i could tell my truth in my family - i am still waiting, but there will come a time. I am hopeful that i will be belived - if not, then iwill have to find a way to move forward as it is possible there will be no justice. I am glad the people in the story were able to live contentedly after such ordeals, & it was the princess' determination & dwvotion which won throught in the end.
