    I used to follow Paul and had his lovely swing using my body. Then following an operation and listening to friends advising me, I started hitting with my arms as well as my body. It’s taken me to come back to watch Paul to realise where I went wrong for 6 months. Paul’s way of teaching is the best I’ve ever seen and the proof is in the pudding so to speak. My swing is back and I thank him completely.

    Out of 3 golf teachers, Dan Grieve's chipping lesson with Rick Shiels, Golf Sidekick's rule of 12 lesson, or Paul's videos; it is Paul's videos that have benefited me the most. Admittedly, as a beginner, it does get confusing on which teacher's techniques or ways are best. They all seem different.

    I purchased Paul's instruction package last winter. I did all the drills religiously for the months leading up to the golf season. I found the drills to be quite simple and effortless. The only hard part was getting used to the neutral grip. Felt awful at first. By the time the season started I thought I was ready. Well it didn't come immediately. As soon as that golf ball was in front of me, all those instincts came back. Even at the range, I had to fight the urge to do my normal swing. So I had to concentrate on all the major things in this new golf swing. And while I did hit quite a few good ones, I also hit a lot of stinkers. I was tempted to just go back to my old swing, but the good ones I hit were straight and much much longer than my old swing. I was hitting drives 240-250 where my old swing struggled to get to 200. So I knew it worked, I just had to let it become natural, rather than forcing myself. So the first half of my season was a struggle at times, but my scores were still ok. The last half of my season has been a complete breakthrough. I no longer have to think about anything. The grip now feels natural, I am coiling and recoiling, hinging and rehinging, touching the knees and touching the neck automatically, so I can just concentrate on striking the ball. My scores over the past few weeks are all better than my best score ever going into this season. My accuracy has never been better, and I am hitting a full club longer than before. The game has never been more fun for me. Thanks Paul

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the support and telling your story. So glad you are doing well. The grip can be tricky for some. In those cases I remind them that your hands are not hands and wrists are not wrists. This is a hinging mechanism. No matter how bad it feels this will allow your wrists to hinge and rehinge. The noticeable difference in driver distance would be great incentive to keep going which you did. Did you do daily practice swings? This is the fastest way to get it. Hope so. If not, then start doing them. We don't want you losing it. Also, keep doing them over the winter. We need you starting next season out where you left off if not better.

    First, thank you Paul, for all you videos. You are such a blessing to us. One time in my life, I hit a drive 50 yards further than ever before. It came on a par 5 and I distinctly experienced my gut, my core, almost WRENCHINGhing through the ball. It was something I never planned or felt before....or since. I was playing with a terrific golfer who was bombing every drive way past mine. That had something to do with it too. It only happened once. A bolt from the blue. It wasn't easy though......I used a part of the body I'd never used or even planned to use!! I am assuming you would want me to practice aggressively turning my core through the swing?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Playing with better golfers definitely rubs off on people. Loose arms and fire the lower body. This turns your core and arms go along for the ride. Keep doing this over and over and in no time you will do it all the time.

    This is too good Paul. Just practicing at home at night around 100 times getting that feeling of heavy club throwing with full body rotation starting ground upwards. I have a tendency to start hitting with arms again after hitting 2-3 arms less easy shots. Good thing is that I realise and switch off the arms and it becomes better. I need to do this arms switching off for ever. Let me try 100 practice swings at night before sleeping. Thanks Paul.

    I hit a drive around 350 this year just swinging easy trying to place the ball on the right side of the fairway, reached a 540 yard par 5 that I never reach in 2 due to a big dogleg. Been swinging hard to try and do that again, and keep pulling a hook around 280 yards to the worst part of the fairway. Great tip!

      The hook is telling you are hitting with arms. Need to check your grip and make it more neutral then turn the arms off completely when you come down. If so you will hit it dead straight.

    Hey coach hope all is well
    The effortless swing has transformed me now I am walking nine holes my legs are getting much stronger now of course with a little Meds and it slows me down more time to think about the shot and controlling the ball it's going well once I started taking your lessons I realized I was beating myself up.
    And to be honest with you I was out one day playing by myself just fooling around 😮and I say to myself let me try the swing that Mr. Wilson is talking about when I finally hit one on a long par 4 down the middle and I was left with a 90 yard shot to the green my eyes were open it felt weird not all are like that but that day was a game changer for me more straighter shots and better scores for me 😊
    Even now I use your chipping ratio video for when I'm chipping and the results are indeed awesome 😎 even when my swing is off I know how to fix it I go to my wrists. My wrist has gotten stronger as well . Thanks for all you do 😊😊

    I am thrilled that you never deviate from the one principle that all golfers must eventually conquer if they are ever going to be good, i.e., no hands and arms in the swing. Many of the other on-line instructors never, or hardly ever, even mention that you shouldn't use your arms to swing the club. In fact I see some that are coming close to encouraging a pull with the arms. I first found your videos about 10 years ago when I was 75 (and a very bad golfer). Now, because of your instruction, I'm 85 and have shot my age or better 203 times. I feel like the $100 I paid you ten years ago should have been $1,000 (but please don't get any ideas!). I have encouraged so many golfers to start watching your videos, including one yesterday who immediately got on his phone and subscribed. So, one golfer at a time!

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am going to be saying it over and over again ... Turn the arms off. There seems to be so many people just whacking away at it. Yes, so few of us out there trying to get people to turn the arms off. The new trend is to really bend over, strong grip, hold off the release for clubhead control and consistency. Hmmm, watching the Open Championship and keep seeing a lot of missed fairways and greens as well as terrible distance control. Until someone dominates with that swing (which they never will) I will keep doing what I do. Oh yeah, wait until the injuries start piling up with that swing. I would say Morikawa is one already. I just heard DJ is having some issues too. There will be more. That tilt is not good for your body.

    Paul. Thanks. So this why when I try to lay up to a ditch and swing easier, the ball travels 20 yards further than it should with that club…and ends up in the ditch!
    Perhaps I should try thinking similarly with my approach shots and say to myself “I want to leave this ball short of the green” so I’ll swing easier and make better contact with more distance.

    Another thought, particularly w the driver, is to make sure your right arm is under your left. If you were to try to throw your driver down the fairway or use an ax to hit a tree waist high, you’ve got to have your right elbow parallel to the ground or at least have that feeling at impact.

    I shot 73 at Colony West from the back tees many years ago in Tamarac, FL. About 7150 yards. It had a rating of 75.1 and a slope of 141!! A beast of a challenge. In Florida the ball doesn't fly as far because you're at sea level and the air is thick with humidity. In the spring the winds are crazy. If you can score in Florida, you can play just about any where. I shot a lot rounds in the 80s there and countless rounds in the 90s. I remember on several occasions of swinging and NEVER felt the club even make contact with the ball. It was like a hot knife through butter. The clubhead made dead center perfect contact with the ball. It really was EFFORTLESS! I was never long off the tee, but I was accurate and I focused on my short game a lot; Pitching, Chipping, Bunker Shots and Putting. I beat a lot of people, and it almost always happened around the greens. I've had one "hole in one", 2 or 3 eagles, holing out from the fairway.

      I don't like people swinging heavy training aids. If so, your clubs feel light which is the opposite to how they should feel. Try to find something light or flip your club upside down. Do a bunch of swings then flip it the right way and you will feel the weight of the club which is what you should be feelig.

    Paul I've been following you for years and have the body swing. My body is very stiff so I've adapted to what I can do ie not getting to the touch the head position for example. t really hurts my trail shoulder to go that far.. I am trying to understand the release in your method. I am kind of stuck in that regard in that I worry a roll release is going to be very hard to time even though it feels more natural so have been using a throw release with my right. I'm at the point now were my left arms feels like it rotates while my right arm is more throw. Is that what I should be feeling?

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have delt with this before. You need to get it to touch the shoulder or neck. It needs to touch so you can repeat it exactly the same every time. If you don't touch somewhere over there you will get shorter and shorter and lose power. So left shoulder/neck area without hurting yourself. Anything to get it rolling is fine. Roll and hook it. This is the release working or step 1. Once you get that you add body (step 2) to straighten it out.

      Never said to swing to 1 o'clock in this tip. Just stretch it out. That is what I want you to do. If so, your club will point at the target. So use that as a guide not 1 o'clock. Nice 320's. Says you can do it for sure. If you turn your arms off your body would tilt back in the downswing. If so, you wouldn't be coming over the top.

      Thanks for the tip. Just watched it. Off to the range to give it a go. As you probably know, (or maybe you don't) I bought your complete video course a few moths back. Just couldn't get it to work for me. Right before impact it felt like I was flipping my right wrist (I'm a right-handed golfer) The tip you linked mentions your arms are a string and the golf club is the weight. Intellectually I get it. In practice, not so much. I'm off to the range. I really want to master the technique you are teaching.@@paulwilsongolf

    • @paulwilsongolf
      @paulwilsongolf  ปีที่แล้ว

      When I get people saying that I ask them if they worked on the positions I teach. Keep in mind I have taught for many years and 99% of them have my stuff. Few are actually doing it as I say to do it. Some not even close. To the the point I wonder if they even read the book and worked on the lessons. Flipping is not firing your body. It is that simple. Fire the body and it moves the release point ahead of the ball. You get this by thinking of moving to the follow through positions I teach starting with the lower body. Point B. So you go from Point A to Point B. If you do the position you look like a pro. Pros hit it great. So the person would hit it great if they looked like the pro. When I was learning it I was working on all positions throughout my swing. This got me nowhere. Once I made it simple I got it. So keep it simple and you will get it too. Trying to hold off a flip is using your arms which is totally unnecessary. Keep in mind when people can't do it in reality they are trying to hit their best shots so they go right back to their other swing that doesn't work. You need to do something new and different. You aren't good at it at first so you can't expect perfect shots. You are looking for some mind blowing shots. As you keep doing it you get used to it then you get the mind blowing shots all of the time. So do daily practice swings at home working on the positions. Reduce the balls. Make the positions perfect realizing that if you do, you will look like a pro as you swing. If so, you get the right fundamentals. It is that simple. Last step is to turn your arms off completely in the downswing. Keep me posted. If you want me to see if post a video of your swing and I will check it. I guarantee you are not doing the position(s) as I show.

      Thank you for the explanation Paul. I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. I will follow your instructions above and once I think I'm doing it correctly I'll send you a video of my swing. I did go to the range today with just a 7 iron and a driver. I did 10 knee high swings with the driver flipped upside down then 30 knee high swings with the driver held correctly trying to feel the weight of the club. After those warm-ups, I put that club down and grabbed my 7 iron and hit a bucket of balls with the only goal of "touching my legs" and "touching my head." I did have more success this time around. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for your reply!@@paulwilsongolf
