Megan & Jonathan will always be the ultimate Anne & Gil. No one touches them. In fact, I can’t bear to watch others because I don’t want to pollute my memory banks. 😔
I feel like I got to drink a few more droplets of the Anne and Gil story that I could never get enough of!! Thank you. Jonathan and Megan were the only ones I saw as Gil and Anne.
I've been watching this series since I was a kid on PBS and one year I was gifted all the dvds and I actually cried when I was given them. Anne and Gil are truly the ideal and I think every woman wishes for a love like theirs. When Jonathan died irl I questioned if Megan's heart hurt more than the loss of a co-star because they had spent so many years making these movies and their chemistry was so prefect you have to believe at some point their feelings irl crossed over while they were acting.
@@SR-iy4gg agreed, that's probably why it was taken out. Anne of Green Gables is supposed to be wholesome to where almost any age can watch Some of the others I wished they kept
As much as I enjoyed this episode, I can't help but wish they had followed the books: Anne & Gilbert marry in the late 1800s, have a large family, and 3 of their boys actually go to war. And SPOILER, one of their boys is killed in action.
It is because they moved the original series from that time period to the 1900's so the timeline was messed up. I to like the book series tineline better
I think we all love any additional scenes of Jonathan, and I have viewed these missing scenes so many times!!! I do sincerely lament the cutting of two scenes - at the train station, which is loving and wistful and Gil is gorgeously playful, and it is a wonderful echo of the train parting in The Sequel after the seminal scene in the gazebo. Megan's/Anne's body language is almost exactly the same, and the metaphor of Gilbert disappearing into the fog is very apt. The second is of course the wedding night! SIGH!
I think they actually DID include the wedding night scene in the Sequel. I remember watching it and at that point thought "They've ruined it". I mean, I'm NOT a prude, but there were certain things that the series would not show and kept faithful to the books. Then it just got worse from there.
I’ve always loved the movies, but had no idea that there was also an ongoing show. Thank-You for uploading these out-takes, I enjoyed seeing behind the scenes!
I'm not a big fan of Anne, the continuing story. I felt the movie didn't do the books justice. I love the books and felt the movie strayed waaay too far from them. Anne and Gilbert are so perfect together, though. Loved Megan follows she will always be Anne Shirley to me. No one can replace her.
Gill didn't go to war his three sons did, and one didn't come home. One went MIA. Why change a good story. This is the only one they totally deviate from the books. It was their daughter Rilla who took on the care of a child after a train crash
Yeah, this movie is not as awesome and rewarding as the first two miniseries... The last novel of the _Anne of Green Gables_ series _(Rilla of Ingleside)_ is way better! 😄 P. S.: What does MIA mean?
@Zsófi from Hungary missing in action. Their eldest, who is also a doctor, goes missing in the war. My favourite scene is when a man gets off the train and his dog recognises him when no one else does.
@@krysperry798 Oh, thank you very much for the information! 😊 Did Jem become a doctor as well...? (It's been a long time since I read the novels.) Yeah, the scene when Monday recognises Jem then runs towards him is so touching and beautiful! ❤
@@krysperry798Oooh I remember this! Spoiler-y stuff (if anyone cares at this point😅) Jem is MIA and his dog is behaving weirdly, so everyone thinks he is dead. Then he comes back alive, but it turns out it's the other son, Walter, who is dead, and that's what the dog picked up 😞... It may have been Walter's dog, I'm fuzzy on that part 🤔 I love Rilla of Ingleside, though I wish more of the Anne sequels had actually been about Anne. We don't really get the loss of her son through her eyes.
Aww thank you for posting these. I wish you had left in the first deleted scene and the parts about Marilla and Anne. That would have tied things together so well, and given credence to their faith.
There is no other Anne - people who have removed Anne from her time period and tried to create modern sensibilities and scenarios are wasting their time.
I just watched the trilogy, loved these movies, so wholesome 🥰 Would have loved to see more of Anne and Gilberts family life after the war and them staying on Green Gables instead. Haha it's so funny that in the second movie they did a mary queen of scotts play and then later in real life Megan plays Catherine in Reign. Brilliant performance, so amusing. It's so noteable how much her voice changes from girl to woman. I'm now 28 and I don't feel like my voice is that much different, perhaps it's just something that goes unnoticed.
I was so disappointed in the storyline when I originally watched this movie, and now I feel like I understand why. These scenes were exactly what I came for between Anne and Gilbert and Marilla and they weren't there. I was so angry I could barely sit through the rest of the movie. I wish they could be restored and re-released. It would change the entire movie for me.

I prefer the _Anne of Green Gables_ (1985.) and the _Anne of Green Gables - The sequel_ (1987.) miniseries. 😊
It seems that the company had legal issues with L.M. heirs (her works weren't public domain at the time), so they had to develop an original plot with elements from the books for the third movie. I think that in weaker hands, the third movie could have been a disaster. But with this crew, in special Megan Follows performance, it worked quite well.
