However that said…… I didn’t like Wagner but I think Cheryl overreacted and misinterpreted what he said. I think what he was saying, bearing in mind that his native language is Portuguese, was that Cheryl was an inspiration for people viewed by the industry as common and unrefined, saying that she had proven that even a council estate girl from Newcastle could make it, and that she was proof that less privileged people could be famous. Unfortunately Cheryl has shown in the past a tendency to get VERY defensive about her roots as a council estate Geordie who grew up in poverty and family issues. It’s not often I criticise Chez but on this occasion she threw a bit of a silly tantrum on live TV and ended up doing nothing but making herself look like an arrogant diva. Even if Wagner was being openly offensive and nasty towards her, it would’ve been much more mature and diplomatic to maybe bite her lip and wait until the cameras were off and then quietly have a word with him. Unfortunately and very unwisely, Cheryl exploded, went off on a rant and ultimately just gave her critics more fuel for the fire. She’s frequently accused of being a self righteous prima donna and sadly that’s how she came across here. Sorry. I think the caller is correct, personally. What Cheryl said to Wagner could've been handled backstage personally and I can't imagine her confronting another contestant, particularly a younger popular contestant in the same way, despite whether what Wagner said in the press was true or not. How could the caller have confronted Cheryl privately as Simon says? Cheryl's job was to judge Wagner's performance and the caller was phoning in with a general question, I thought.
She actually wasn't. No one liked her in 2007 and 2008 she got a little popular in 2009 and then every hated her again more in 2010 and then she left at the end of X factor 2010.
