- For most of her adult life, Tobin Heath was a bit of a soccer vagabond. In this episode of 23 Stories, presented by Volkswagen, the U.S. WNT forward shares her love for Portland and her club, Portland Thorns FC, as she has finally put down roots and found a home. The importance of Portland to her as a person and a player in allowing her to express her creativity and share her passion for the game are things she'll always be thankful for.

When I saw her playing in the World Cup, she was the only one who was sprinting after every ball for the whole 90 min , amazing player
Very true i also noticed. I know she wanted a goal in the final but was upset about the fouls and stuff.

Tobin's story in the last world cup's 23 stories was all about being a nomad. Now 4 years later, she has found a home and settled down in Portland. What a journey huh!

I like Tobin Heath's blunt take on things: It's refreshing to have a passionate professional footballer emphasize that at one point she wanted excellence in the sport celebrated, rather than prioritizing players being role models and social activists -- in spite of the near constant media pressure all our women's players are under to talk about being great inspirations for young girls, etc...
And she does this with a strong belief in giving back -- a clearly genuine gratitude and humility. This is to be celebrated.
Oh... and Tobin has some pretty sick skills, too! 💕👍👌
I think you can also credit the team for that. Some of them are very clear activists, some of them prefer to stay in the back and just play. Tobin has become way more socially involved in recent years but was never pressured into doing so by her more activism driven team mates. Nor were the activists on the team told not to do things by players like Tobin. It's a good balance. They respect each other and the choices they make even if they themselves wouldn't do it.
She's an inspiration to all. Beautiful inside and out.
On the field she does most of the work and everyone benefits from it. She's the best.

Living in Paris I was disappointed to see France go out the other night, but what the US Womens' team has done for the profile and prestige of the game worldwide is amazing. So many Americans - men and women - here sporting US team guernseys. Glad they have caught the soccer bug. Anyway, now I'm off to go and search for "Tobin Heath Portland Highlights". Great interview.

I saw Tobin Heath the first time during the last World Cup. I was amazed by her style and started to browse through videos an articles. Never seen a such inspiring person in sports. Laid back, " cool", fantastic technic, low profile, humble. A person who can inspire young girls, like Michaela Shiffrin, Magdalea Neuner. A star, but natural....not a natural star.
