Hey there! Came across your video doing research on the VA Triple Crown hike. Just subbed to support another fellow hiker and vlogger. Nice video. I hadn't ever thought of starting at Dragons tooth. I have been watching Frozen for years. His video was actually the very 1st video I ever watched on the triple crown. Nice info in your video.
First one of yours I have watched. Enjoyed it. If you are not in good shape you sound good. Most sound like they're going to heave a lung when they are walking. Either you take your time or you're stopping to catch your breath before getting on camera.
That looks like a great area. It's not easy getting a bear on video! Too bad you couldn't. I like the music in your video. And btw, how do you record your voice--for example, the scene at 11:30? The sound quality seems really good.
Yesterday I hiked with a lady's hiking club out to the Channels in S.W Va. You should go there sometime if you haven't already. I am 78 and wish I had started hiking as young as you have. Love the camaraderie of your friendship. If you're still at Tech, come out to 600 Bishop and you can fish in my pond.
Haha! Always fun watching other peoples videos and randomly getting a shout out. Looks like you had a similar experience as me with this trail. One of the greats trails in VA! PS: Love that Fred is making his rounds.
I've seen this 37 mile figure before but my maps show this is more like a 33 mile loop. That would seem to suggest your second day was more like 17-18 miles. I agree that the posted mileage on North Mountain does seem off.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. My husband and I are planning on doing this trip on June 22 - can you comment on what the low temperature was for you? I'm trying to determine which quilt to bring. Thanks!
I can see the Rt311 parking lot from my front door. I work for the local fire/EMS department that is responsible for dragons tooth, macafee's knob, and north mountain. I am spoiled living in this area. I find it hard to believe that people travel from all over the world to play in my neighborhood. It is hard to believe that there are so many people who try to walk the trails in flip flops, and no extra clothing or gear. At least Macafee's Knob has a fire road that we can drive the UTV for rescues. Nice documentary on your hike. 👍
Nice vid, I'm doing the same trek in a couple weeks. Which map did you pick up? I have the AT map but it's missing a section of the North Mountain Trail.
Thanks Jerry! I have a Delorme Inreach Explorer which pairs with your phone and uses the Delorme/Garmin app, since Garmin bought them out. Yes, I always carry a paper map, just the section I need.
You used a tent this time instead of the hammock, cool! I like to change it up sometimes too. Was that a Lightheart Gear tent? Thanks for another great video.
Awesome trip! enjoy your videos... great content/great editing. See you out on the trail one day, but for now I'm a couple weeks behind you it seems lol... I'll be up there next weekend
Tim W. Thanks Tim! The watch is the Garmin Fenix 3, I also have the Garmin Tempe. Yes it has altitude and more. The Fenix 5x is even better, it's newer.

It works really well from a distance, better than the mic on my Canon G7X . . .
Where did you get that paper map of the whole route??

I'm jealous! Thanks for all you guys do out there. Appreciate you watching!
Nice trip and video. Bummer on not seeing a bear. were you trying to give the dragons tooth a dental cleaning?
oh goodness. I just hiked mcafee knob today. July 23rd. I was unaware of that folklore... nice and creepy...
How much fuel did you need for the alcohol stove for the whole trip?
I use 2 ounces a day, one to heat dinner and one for coffee in the morning. 1 ounce boils 2 cups.
Thanks!
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing. Sorry you missed the bear; better luck next time.
Thanks!

Thanks man! You're going to love it. One of my favorites. I used Nat Geo 788. Here is an Amazon link to it. amzn.to/2guNNCs
First hiking trip for me we went to McAfee knob and I complained the entire way up but it was worth it and I would do it again in a heart beat
Badass bro. Great video.
