Security Stories 7 - Biker Gangs

  • If you are a Sons of Anarchy fan you probably have some ideas about Bikers. Of course that was fictional... I got to experience their lifestyle first hand after working two venues that they frequented. We got pretty friendly and I ended up invited to their social events and even a wedding. I talk about some of those experiences and why ultimately I chose to cease the friendship and move on. Doing 23 years of security gave me some unique insights into worlds normally hidden from the average person. Hopefully these videos allow me to cast some light into these darker places..

    I worked as a musician in the 80's and 90's. Lost count of the number of biker gigs we played at. Often in their clubs. My impressions are pretty much the same as yours. They tend to run along the same lines. They are brotherhoods, based upon their own type of honour and culture. Respect them, don't ask any questions, stay well clear of their business, enjoy their humour, generosity and company. Play the music they enjoy. After the show pack up and go home. And you'll be welcome back. They were better employers than many bar owners!

    You got sone real balls, the bike gangs really are gangs and they will really go off on you, especially when liquor and speed gets involved. And yeah, isn’t it funny how regimented these outsider groups are, it reminds of the punk guys I knew back in the early 80s who were so about individuality except you had to have a certain haircut, jacket, boots, etc.

    Interesting stories and I don't think the biker scene in the UK is that much different than the U.S. You have to be careful if you are invited to a outlaw biker club's club house as if you aren't a patched member or prospect then you are expendable if you make a mistake like get in an argument with the first two. And unless you are a patch you are never really their friend as Gear Guy learned when he was trying to escort them outside during a fight.

  • @alaskansummertime
    @alaskansummertime หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I lived next door to a one percenter club for about ten years. One thing you have to always remember about these clubs is how much they love to talk Sh*t. Maybe one guy, one time had to wear piss pants but by and large prospects watch the bikes, get beer, sweep, pull weeds, take someone's old lady to the dentist, pull more weeds, etc. It also depends upon day of the week , how much dope or alcohol they have consumed and a host of other factors. Their 'rules' are like Calvin Ball. For instance the club next to me had a strict rule about no illegal BS around the clubhouse. They then started dealing crank with a woman who installed a train horn on her truck and set it off on me every time I worked in the garden. See how those rules change? Its funny people fear these people so much but I can honestly say I talked more Sh*t to this particular club than anyone in history and I can still walk by their clubhouse without fear . That's the other thing. Most clubs know not to start up with the general law abiding public. There are rules for member, other clubs and the general public all allegedly very distinct from one another.

  • @user-th3ll8rl7i
    @user-th3ll8rl7i หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    It is ironic that there so many rules and the clubs are so hiearchical but it makes sense when you understand the origins of biker clubs. They were started after WW II by all the ex military who missed the comraderie and really coudn't fit in with milk-toast suburban society. So they just transferred all the military hiearchy and rules to their MC clubs.

    You rarely come across the biker clubs in the uk unless you know where to look.....ive seen a few HAMC groups out on the roads......saw a huge group of Outlaws a few weeks ago on the M6.......it was obviously way cooler in the 60s, 70s in the USA.....i ride bikes and I know what the cubs were about and are now about.....and Im also a veteran and have a bit of respect for their life but its a big big commitment to be a patched member.....leave them to it....

    Lol...I got thrown out of a pub on Weymouth quayside by a bunch of bikers. I went back in half hour later and everything was ok with them. Years later, I used to drink in a Dorset pub with a biker who told me he had two sawn off shotguns under his floorboards.

    In the UK there are three types. MC are 1%er, MCC are affiliated and mainly social, then there are the socials. My experience of 1%ers for the most part is the majority lack integrity. Our squat was taken over by some in the late 80's, one stabbed my friends hand to the floor, for fun. Shall we say, they lack masculine grace... I'd rather ride with the socials than anyone else and bikers generally stick together anyway.

    Wearing jeans that a bunch of men have peed on sounds a pretty childish and wimpy initiation process to me, and ganging up on one guy is not what I'd call manly. Not exactly nobility of spirit. All the same, very interesting to hear about such people - I just hope I never have the misfortune to meet them. I am very much enjoying your stories and reminiscences. Thank you.

      Svetlana, they are not nice people. At a motorcycle rally once some slightly drunk guy dancing accidentally bumped into one of these MC members, and apologised, but they took him outside and beat him severely and his wife who asked them to stop. Real heroic men. Not. But like all bullies they thrive on intimidation.

    I live in south jersey ten minutes outside of Philly. 1% bike clubs n gangs are all the same the ppl on top feed off the ppl on the bottom for money n power. We have a shit ton of both out here. Street gangs control more of the underworld n have way more numbers than bike gangs by far. If ur in an area that u have no choice that’s one thing but now ppl get rich & famous then join gangs. Lots of our entertainers n sports figures are known for becoming members of street gangs once they get on top. Which is ass backwards historically but that how popular the gang life or culture is now.

    Have a good mate , when we were in 20s we’d see his older brother , high up in the Rebels. Various parties their presence ,bikies , was pretty ominous. Bit of danger for sure. But my mate said , they’re all just a bunch of followers that like wearing a costume. With their patches and all that. We’d get massive bags of cheekies to sell ,
    The Eccys went garbage after the bikies monopolised that. Ruined it.
    I was in the local lock up once and the dude I was sharing with remembered me, via my mate etc anyway he was waiting to be transported to remand for this body found in the creek behind the local club house. Can’t remember if he got charged but I remember him as kind of mentally feeble, a bit of a follower maybe. Probably got some proper nasty psychos in those clubs followed by equally nasty weaker followers. Waste of space.

    Bikers are oftentimes just immature 17 year olds who never grow up, with emotional issues, "rebel" syndrome. as you mentioned, the irony of being anti-establihment, free riding rebels, while having rules like a cult. usually stupid rules about ranks, even worse than the system they don't want to be part of. how many kilometers you drove and how many biker meetings you went to, and then you are worth more. It's beyond ridiculous. To be a grown man and to obey these childish rules, it's humiliating.
