      And i would say it could be better if you give example with "width of beam" included on the slab.

    Hey thank you!
    (@3:40 just saying)
    For practical purposes you should overlap only at compression zone.(so that you can just provide minimum development length based on the code 50dia.)
    the TRUTH is you can put overlap anywhere you like if you could safely calculate/predict the bond strength at rebar-concrete interface and provide adequate anchorage length.

    • @dannyengineering
      @dannyengineering  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for ur comment.
      So when u say " you can overlap anywhere u want" I'm assuming ur idea is also to overlap on tension zone and also u said if we can safely calculate the bond strength and provide adequate anchorage length we can overlap on tension zone also.
      U are right But design is not just about safety as we know it, it is also about economy so u will be uneconomical if u put an overlap on tension zone.so that's why I said don't put an overlap on tension zone.

    Design the beam subjected to a design moment M=300 KN-m. Use fck=25 MPa and fyk=500

    i am a little bit confused on the top bar arrangement my question is how L/3 and L/4 bars are joined together. Thank you

    • @dannyengineering
      @dannyengineering  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your comment so I didn't say join l/3 and l/4 .
      I said l/3 for intermediate support and l/4 for edge support but these is for usual case but to get the exact length you have to see the drawing from the software that you used.

      Hello,i have a question that what would happen the top bar elongates till 1/4 of the sapn incase of intermidiate spans and till 1/8 for edge spans,and what is the reason behind to select the length

    why do you take L/4 at edge

    • @dannyengineering
      @dannyengineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the question. I take L/4 b/c for the most case the moment will be zero at that place but when u design you got to see the exact length of the negative moment to where it comes zero on the software that you do the design but the values will be different at each place so for practice purpose we just have to take the max distance which is for the most case L/4 but to be more accurate see the moment diagram on the software and be the judge.

    Route Location and Pavement Design
    A map showing the topographic and physical features of the region in the localities of two towns A and B is attached to prepare the preliminary design of a road connecting the two towns. The estimated AADT, which will be using the proposed A-B road, is given expressed as passenger car units (CPU). The expected traffic growth rate is 7%.
    Assume any other reasonable design data
    Determine the location and alignment of the proposed road. Make a detailed design of road A-B. Prepare a set of working drawings including:
    Section B: Pavement Design and Analysis
    Provide the design and drawing with respect to the Ethiopian road authority (ERA) Design Manual 2013 guidelines as follows:
    a. A traffic class for flexible pavement design.
    b. The value of CBRdesign and the class of the calculated sub grade strength
    c. Total pavement thickness
    d. Draw a typical cross-section of the flexible pavement
    e. Draw a chart showing the step wise procedures of the design of road.
