Thank you for being an inspiration to those of is who are shy, quiet people, that want to share the Gospel but are unsure how to dive in. Thanks for your lessons in boldness! We are the salt, and the lamp on the table top. You are that flame that lights us up!! From now on I won't "wait for an opening" with people, but rather, I will "go in" and ask if they have the blessed hope of salvation, the grace and gift of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen!! 💖

Amen my Brother there is a remnant starting to be spoken truth to by the Holy Ghost Gods army is preparing pastor i have had things happen to me that doesn’t make sense in this world seen things that can only be of God.. I was baptised by a spirit of fire and now I read the bible and see things in a different light my understanding can’t be more clearer I am not a smart man nor anyone of importance but God seen something in me and I thank him now every minute of every day, my old ways are dead and Gone, I have become completely new the spirit has guided me, always helping me leading me away from my sinful flesh leading me to great man of God I never knew where out there I gave up on church when I was young because I believed they where not speaking what I was reading Truth, but he has guided me to great men such as yourself, David Wilkerson, Billy Graham. Charles Lawson.. I can see it feel it all over the Globe Gods shaping us preparing us to reach many before Jesus Christ Return.. God Bless you pastor Carter.. Amen..

There were aspects that I thought Pastor Conlon was on point about, but he sometimes goes beyond scripture which is dangerous. The Bible talks about whoever adds onto the Word will be accursed. An example of Him adding was when he claimed God was waiting for Abraham to say, "I willgo and tell them about Almighty God." The reason God even desired for Sodom to be destroyed was for his own glory. God created all things by Him and FOR Him. If God wanted Abraham to go into the city to preach to have the city saved, it would have happened. God is sovereign and has all things work out according to His will.

Yes, much as I love Carter Conlon, I am not convinced by this message. I have made some similar points in my own comment. See above. I think this message goes awry. It takes too many liberties with the actual text. Sodom was a city of rapists, I think Abraham would have been waiting a long time for six volunteers to go and live there! Abraham wasn't a Pentecostal revivalist preacher, and nor was Sodom an American city where he could have established a ministry. It is quite a big thing to assert that he was at fault and should have gone in to work miracles and preach, and it isn't supported by the text: that is very speculative, novel Interpretation. I love prophetic preaching, and it is good to draw out the lessons for our own times and circumstances, but it still needs to remain sound exegesis. After all, God did send Jonah in to preach in Ninevah, and the city was saved. He made sure that happened, even when Jonah didn't want to go. He could have given the same command to Abraham, a much more obedient man, had He wanted to.

I think God ended the conversation because he knew anyone who be influenced to do evil. The evil was being forced upon those who came into the city.

Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of eternal life to all who trust Him alone for salvation.
This means that saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.

OK, reading the other comments, a lot of people will disagree with me, but, much as I love Carter Conlon and his preaching, and Times Square, I think this message goes awry. It simply takes too many liberties with the text. Abraham wasn't a Pentecostal revivalist preacher, and nor was Sodom an American city where he could have established a ministry, or led a healing crusade. As for asking for six volunteers to go and live there, even the angels couldn't get out fast enough: I think Abraham would have been waiting quite a long time for volunteers! It was a city of rapists. God did send Jonah to preach in Ninevah, and the city was spared: God made sure that happened even when Jonah didn't want to go. He could have given the same command to Abraham, if He had wanted to. There is no suggestion anywhere in the text that He did, or anywhere in the bible that He was disappointed by Abraham's reaction. I love prophetic preaching, such as Carter Conlon often delivers so powerfully, and it is good to draw out the lessons and applications for our own times and situations, but a message still needs to remain good biblical exegesis. This comment isn't an attack on Carter Conlon, I have benefitted greatly from his ministry, and Times Square, which is a wonderful church, but this particular message isn't sound bible teaching. It is quite a big thing to assert that Abraham was at fault and should have gone in to Sodom to preach and work miracles, that is a novel interpretation and it is highly speculative.

This sermon took a turn I did not expect. I do think that this is an interesting perspective, but not biblical.
Moses did not want to go into Egypt but God COMPELLED Him!
Could The Lord not have compelled Abraham?
    Was God's purpose thwarted? No!
This verse regarding miracles not being done in Sodom is one I use to show that it was never God's intention to evangelize or save them.
Why were there no miracles in Sodom? Because The LORD did not want there to be.
The LORD purposely gave His word ONLY to Israel (Psalm 147:19-20)
He purposely did not give it to the gentiles.
Just the opposite. With a few exceptions and Ninevah, The LORD purposely overlooked the ignorance of the gentiles (Acts 17:30)
The LORD "allowed the nations (ethnos/gentiles) to go their own way." (Acts 14:16)
This is why Paul said in Ephesians 2 that in the past gentiles were "Without hope and without God."
Yes, The Lord did intend to bring gentiles into the Kingdom. This is the "mystery" spoken of by Paul in Ephesians 3. Paul said that the mystery "was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets." (Ephesians 3:5)
So again, the fact that gentiles were supposed to come into the Kingdom was not made known in the OT.
So lesson 1: God did NOT intend to save "every single person" as some Christians believe.
But here's another lesson people need to understand:
The LORD WOULD HAVE spared Sodom for the sake of the Righteous!
THIS is what 2 Peter 3:9 means when it says "The Lord is not willing that ANY should perish." The "Any" are His SHEEP who are lost and must be found!
The parable of the lost sheep in Matthew 18:10-14 confirms this. It is the SHEEP that He is not willing that any should perish!
We see the same principle in Matthew 13 in the parable of the weeds.
Why does the farmer say not to pluck up the tares?
For the sake of the Wheat (believers)
The "righteous" in Sodom were already "in the fold" or "in the ark of safety." If there had been others, The Lord would have made sure they were saved out of the city.
This is why God told Paul in Acts 18 "For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, *because I have many people in this city* "
The implication is that these were sheep YET to come to the faith which is why Paul stayed in Corinth for another year and a half.
    From Matthew Henry's commentary:
He gave him a prospect of success: “For I have much people in this city. Therefore no man shall prevail to obstruct thy work, therefore I will be with thee to own thy work, and therefore do thou go on vigorously and cheerfully in it; for there are many in this city that are to be effectually called by thy ministry, in whom thou shalt see of the travail of thy soul.” Laos esti moi polys-There is to me a great people here. *The Lord knows those that are his yea, and those that shall be his* for it is by his work upon them that they become his, and known unto him are all his works. “I have them, though they yet know me not, though yet they are let captive by Satan at his will; for the Father has given them to me, to be a seed to serve me; I have them written in the book of life; I have their names down, and of all that were given me I will lose none; I have them, for I am sure to have them;” whom he did predestinate, those he called. In this city, though it be a very profane wicked city, full of impurity, and the more so for a temple of Venus there, to which there was a great resort, yet in this heap, that seems to be all chaff, there is wheat; in this ore, that seems to be all dross, there is gold. Let us not despair concerning any place, when even in Corinth Christ had much people.
