15.07. The building ahead was the Saracens Head Hotel, one of my favoured haunts. I've had drinks with Clapton and Beck in there. We were all spotty youths back then.
Great Video... Thanks for refreshing my memories about the beautiful city of Chelmsford.. I use to walk around in the same streets back in 2014 that was when i used to study at Anglia Ruskin University.. Thanks again and Keep blessed Chelmsford..!
At about 4.15, there used to be a shop selling a huge range of coffees, either beans, or ground, and a delicious smell of roasting coffee filled the street.
Me and my dad used to go on Saturdays and watch the Ceefax scores coming through. Me and me best mate used to go to Monday market circa 97. My earliest memory is my uncle taking me and buying me a spectrum 48k game! This brings back a lot of memories thank you. I see they finally gave the old precient a bit of small face lift. It's definitely always kept clean unlike a lot of London
@@TheAmbientAmbler Why just the 90's, the 80's were great as well-loved coming here first as a little in the 80's and my folks driving from Kent- Bexleyheath/Dartford through the Dartford Tunnel! The Chelmsford Theatre one of my fav theatres! 😀
15.11 There was a huge statue of Judge Tyndal (hence Tyndal Square) He was one of the many luminaries who attended my alma mater, King Edward V1 Grammar School. There is, however, no statue in my honour . . . yet.
Genealogy says my Holland family goes back to Sir Thomas Holland he is my grandfather way way way back I'm a 6ft Dutch Anglo Saxon Southern Kentuckian not to bad huh ❤🌹 thank you for the video it's beautiful out there
Chelmsford is ok, nothing special. Most young people who live there want out. Half the shops in town are closing down every 6 months it seems. The crime rate now is very high compared to the past and there’s a lot of rough people who live there (mostly from Melbourne). Few nice parks, good selection of pubs and restaurants. Missing proper clubs & a music venue and also missing a good football stadium for the size of the city. Traffic is awful. Overall ok, but quite meh if you’ve lived there a long time.
Hello , I haven't been to Chelmsford myself but have friends and colleagues who live there, so watched fully and thank you for taking me around the town centre.
You missed out a lot. If you'd started at the cathedral and finished in Moulsham Street or the Essex County Cricket Ground before looping back to the market, you might've created a better impression as Duke Street is pretty soulless with its solicitors and estate agents, Alternatively, a Chelmsford Friday night time pub crawl would definitely create an accurate picture!! lol @@TheAmbientAmbler

Awesome video. Great place to just walk around. Lots of shops to see and very clean and neat town.
Thanks Donald, I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Yes very pleasant place for a walk!
Used to be ok. But it’s cheap compared with other counties in the south as all the Londoners move there
С удовольствием опять прошлась по улицам Челмсфорда .Очень уютный и чистый город с прекрасным парком и увлекательными магазинами!
Looks perfectly nice. And pretty clean.
Lovely Chelmsford so clean the streets my dads home town fond memories ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks and glad to bring back memories:)
6.34, site of the old Corn Exchange. Brilliant Saturday night gigs. Pink Floyd, the Move, Georgie Fame, the Yardbirds . . .
and Jimi Hendrix!
I visited this place with my son srikant patil very beautiful place I like very much this city
21.14 I forget the name of the shop that was there on the right, but it was the sole supplier for uniforms and related clothing for my old school.

Super pics of the county town of Essex ❤️❤️❤️

Am visiting Chelmsford this weekend, thanks for your slice of history - wish I could go back and film in the 90s but ce la vie!

Despite making me feel bloody old (74) , I really enjoyed that.
Thank you for all the history of Chelmsford in these comments!
Great Video.
I'm Your Fan.
Thanks for a pleasant walk.
Thanks for joining me as always :)
Love the city centre
I love Chelmsford ❤ 😍 brother
Me too bro
Woww very empty???
You didn't go down bond street
Moulsham Street would've been better instead of Duke Street
Dooks?
It is a bit plain, I think. They need to put more trees and grassy spots on the pavements, so the place doesn't look so bereft.
Yes I know what you mean, could do with a bit more soul
Chelmsford has so many more parks than most places it's size. Plenty of greenery around the place............
Soul comes from the inhabitants. Probably why I moved away!! @@TheAmbientAmbler

Can we see a pic of Broomfield hospital please
Heya I will try if i return!

Cheers for some insight, thought it seemed ok to live tbh, living there you can see its flaws though
Mostly from Melbourne 😂 lol they’re mostly from Albania nowadays.
the town gets repetitive after a while because ur always going to the same shops, i find it boring
Melbourne, to clarify, is a rather ghastly housing estate north of the town, and not an antipodean city.

Hey Angela, thanks for your comment. It was my first time in Chelmsford too, very peaceful commuter town near London - seems a nice place to live 🙌🏻

👍👍👍🎥👍👍👍
Cheers nazar 🤲
Chelmsford used to be a lovely place. Then I moved away and its main attraction gone 😭 😆
😭 if you listen closely the residents of Chelmsford still ask after Kenneth and when he's returning
Looks like a ghost town
Was mid afternoon that might be why!
Go there on a Saturday......you'll wish you hadn't 😯
Few too many Muslims these days... Used to be a nice English town...
Is there? Oh that’s good to know bcoz I was thinking of moving there.
