Viewers beware, if you are watching Paul H Films, since I have started watching his videos, I have been in "serious hot water" with my wife! Yes it's true! lol I have a head on me like an onion, make ya want to cry, and a face only a mother could love, BUT since watching Paul's films, and shaving as he does, I now have the women "flocking to me" and I feel like a famous movie star now, as I have to run from my 1987 rusty car, to my house, and lock the door, as the girls will chase me!! Paul will teach you how to shave, and how to look and smell great......I almost wish I never found Paul's videos, just too many women chasing me now, and I'm a married man.....it's a very sad story really! HA!! Great show Paul! Love those cheap shaves some days myself!! Cheers!
Great shave! It's good to be reminded of the basics every now and then. You covered all the points for a very enjoyable shave Paul, well done! I've yet to try a feather blade but I'll add it to my shopping list. Loved the babies breath Mrs. H, they add a special touch to the arrangement! Winter is in full force here now and it's kept Mrs. W and I busy trying to keep the driveway and sidewalk clear. It was 32f with over 6 inches of snow yesterday and last night the wind was gusting to 25mph so it's all drifted this morning. It's 6f now and the forecast is calling for an additional 3 to 6 inches today. I never minded winter when I could cross-country ski and snowshoe but this achy old body isn't up to that anymore so it's a rough go. Take care, Ossie
No apologies needed mate. You keep doing what you're doing. a good refresher is never a bad thing and we all started somewhere. I refer lots of people to your videos to learn as I learnt how to from you and Michael Freedburg primarily
This video is part of the reason I subscribe to your channel Paul. From what I've seen, the only two things that all DE wet shavers seem to agree on are i) the angle of the razor and ii) don't apply any pressure. Everything else is just a matter opinion and very subjective. Thanks for making these videos.
Good video Paul. You are wright... back to basic products is great. "Yes, who said shaving wasn't fun ?????" I use this quote often. Have a good week and see you on sunday.
It's always good to return to the Basics from time to time. It helps us appreciate what we have better and how far we've come. Great material for the "newbies". Well Done!

Thanks a lot, that you also go back to basic shaves. Helps! Love watching your videos! Just used the Wilkinson this morning ... and in Germany we get it for about 3,50Euro.
Just had my first DE shave Wilkinson sword classic razor and blades. Wilkinson sword soap and a men-ü boar brush. It was a lot of fun but still getting used to it for definite! Thanks for the inspiration as without you shaving would be so boring
Have only just started watching his videos again after a good few years, have now started using my first DE Safety Razor... It's not much but it does the job is a Jager David B40. I actually learnt how to shave from Pauls videos all those years ago!!
Well Paul, you've got a lot to answer for. Saw your present to Wiltshire Man and am now hooked. Have started with the Wilkinson but you just know it's not going to stop there. Mrs C-J Going to blame you as we slide into a life of poverty and a house full of shaving products.
nice one Paul. I love my Williamson Sword brush. Once it's worn in it's great. It's extremely versatile and can handle soaps, creams and croaps all alike. Everything you used is readily available and affordable. Sometimes I think that newcomers can be put off by the expense and complexity, but it can be affordable and simple. I hope you're OK with the weather warning. Today it got to 42 Celsius where I am so no chance of snow LOL! cheers mate
Great video Paul really good tips and information there to me out on my shaves and possible future videos. lovely flowers as well. All the best..... Jase
Hi Paul , good to see you again mate . I do like the feathers , first shave sucks , seconds passable , 3rd upto 8 shaves is awesomeness . People complain about the cost of them , but i feel they give very good value for money . I'm using mine in the r41 grande ( 3 piece version ) with no issues whatsoever .... i have perfected my technique now , very rare i get a bleeder .
Hi Paul. I started also with the Wilkinson Classic my whetshaving career. Three years ago. Now i am using Straight razors self honed and time by time DE razors. My Favorite 34C by Merkur is my first real safety razor. I am looking your Videos because it is a relaxing time for me. Other Videos on YT are always talking about buying and yes this is the best and bla bla bla. But yours are so relaxing and cool. I love that. Best is this loving flowers. Always a relaxing item. Keep on. I am very satyisfied of your videos. Sorry about my english. I am german. Have a nice week. Still waiting for the next video. Gretings. Bert Schäfer
Thanks Paul, good basic shave. I tend to do the same when using my old Gillette Techs, pop in a Feather blade. For me I find mild razor, sharp blade a winning combination. Have a good week, all the best.....Nick
Hi Paul . WOW Mrs H out did herself ! GORGEOUS Flowers as Always ! Spectacular ! Makes us miss spring that much more . Haha ! Thanks for your consideration Paul . Nothing too bad though . Hope you've had a great Week . ... wonder why they changed the Old Spice formula ? Doesn't make sense to me , but what do I know .
Thanks Michael, Mrs H always appreciates the kind comments on the flowers, she loves doing them..hope you stay warm and safe over there....have a great week, and all the best...Paul.
I've used those brushes and that soap before, they both work excellent. You don't need to spend a awful lot to get a good shave. A good basic shave will do you good every now and again. Have a good week and see you next shave.
Had your video on, while I did my own shaving. Wish I had my Wilkinson razor with me here. I also do not have my Wilkinson blue soap stick with me. Instead, I used a West Coast Shaving open comb razor, some Super Max shaving cream, and some Shea aftershave. Before my third and last pass, I flipped the blade over (a Rapira, I think) but it is probably time to switch the blade out altogether.
Nice video Paul. I'm not sure but I don't think they sell boar brushes anymore, I think they're all synthetic nowadays. Got one when I first started out, it was horrible and shed a lot. I think many others have the same problem with the new brushes. One of the only pieces of wetshaving gear I've tossed in the bin.
Nice idea for a shave Paul and some great advice for new and old wet shavers alike 😌👏 We've been having a budget shave week in the brilliant "Shavette World" Facebook group, it's been good putting the posh Christmas presents down for a week and revisiting some of the classics. I'm still to get a Wilkinson Sword shave stick but it won't fall off my Wants & Needs list, nothing ever does 😂 Lovely flowers from LH 😌👏💐
Really informative again Paul. great tutorials. I find feather blades really harsh dude. they are a bit better in my really mild butterfly razor. in my Edwin Jagger they're a nightmare! Voshkod blades a brilliant all rounder in all my razors. what's your take on them?
Hello Paul. I have to ask, about that cabinet on your back wall across from the flowers. Where did you find something like that? I think it's beautiful, and would like to have one much like it. Please let me know where I can buy one....Thanks ever so much. Neil
I particularly like this video! Not because it is an inexpensive shave (I am Dutch 😉) but because it shows what you can achieve with a small budget. Although I also must note that your technique is superb 😉; I bet I could give you a potato peeler and you would still get a close shave and make it look easy in the process!
I Still Hear Your Voice When I Shave " Light Touch " ... I'm Still Using My Gillette Slim Adjustable On Settling 1 Or 2 I Use Cremo As Pre Shave And The Fabulous Maca Root So Little Is Needed I'll Get 5000 Shaves Out Of It .... it Shaves Smooth As Butter .... Unbelivable You Got Me HOOKED !!!

Hi Paul I noticed my merkur 34c when putting a blade in it doesn't line up straight and I have to adjust it before tightening. Have I got a faulty razor or is this common.
It can feel a bit loose as you put it together, but I find once I tighten up, there is no alignment problems, but I think it can happen , as I have heard others say the same sort of thing.
As before, clean-shaven and new interesting.) Kensurf recently bought this razor. And really like it, as nice and mild.) Witch Hazel tonic does its job perfectly, again. Today has received the essential oil of sandalwood. I think to make a lotion. See you in a weekend shave party.))
Good shave Paul...I think your face would prefer a milder blade....I know you bleed for your fans...but we don't want to scare them...lol...that is a very good razor for the new shaver...not a lot of money and a mild shaver...with derby blades....A lot of new stuff out there...and we depend on you for an honest evaluation...Time to move forward...and let's us know where we should spend our money for the best products..Kevy shave's seems to stay on top of things...He mentions you often....The flowers were doing their job this morning...Beautiful.....so in conclusion..as the President said in his final speech......"Forward"...we will follow

Thanks for a great "basic" shave. (Mild razor and nicks... lol.) I'm glad you did not accept the companys offer, letting them direct you in a very cheap way. Very happy you resisted that, thanks. We want to keep you as is, except when requesting His Lorship appearance. Speaking of that....?

Your neck has the same reaction to feather blades as mine! Not to worry, sometimes the shaver's best friend is his styptic pencil.
