Regina Spektor - Us
Lyrics:
They made a statue of us
And it put it on a mountain top
Now tourists come and stare at us
Blow bubbles with their gum
Take photographs have fun, have fun
They'll name a city after us
And later say it's all our fault
Then they'll give us a talking to
Then they'll give us a talking to
Because they've got years of experience
We're living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
We're living in a den of thieves
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
We wear our scarves just like a noose
But not 'cause we want eternal sleep
And though our parts are slightly used
New ones are slave labor you can keep
We're living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
We're living in a den of thieves
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
They made a statue of us
They made a statue of us
The tourists come and stare at us
The sculptor's marble sends regards
They made a statue of us
They made a statue of us
Our noses have begun to rust
We're living in a den of thieves
Rummaging for answers in the pages
Were living in a den of thieves
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious
And it's contagious - เพลง
"this is a story of boy meets girl. but you should know upfront that is not a love story. "
That movie killed me.
what movie??

500 Days of Summer
god i love that movie
ouch.
regina spektor is hands down one of the most legendary singers ever.
I love how she uses her voice as an extra instrument.
Edit: She uses her voice in an unusual way. Obviously she's singing, but she is very unique in how she uses her voice.
Yeah, it's called singing.
This is probably the dumbest comment I’ve ever seen on TH-cam since 2005
No need to be rude, guys. I actually completely get what you mean, juhani. She has a super unique technique
Agreed, the singing style is great.
Not sure why these people thought it was going to help them in life to be rude to you despite you making a good point, I understood what what you meant immediately... imagine thinking it was worth your time to comment something like these fools.
Music is a magic that no one will ever truly understand. It is the greatest thing humanity has ever created. It both transcends us and comes from us. I really don't know where I would be without it and all the wonderful people who populate the world with songs like this.
"It both transcends us and comes from us" Beautiful remark.
"You know what sucks? Realizing that everything you believe in is complete and utter bullshit."
Sangster Gangster I relate to this so much
Summer: I woke up one morning and I just knew.
Tom: Knew what?
Summer: What I was never sure of with you
what movie??

was honestly so happy when I heard regina in 500 days of summer, she deserves the publicity! people need to calm down about people discovering her on the movie, she deserves the recognition, so be happy if qanything!
I really have my friend, Hector, to thank for showing me this wonderful woman's music. Regina Spektor is indeed a wonderful, spectacular musician. I wish someday to see her live in Concert. Love you, Regina Spektor. =)

This is not a Love story, ths is a story about love💙
I dont know, but as someone with mental health issues this song speaks to me in volumes.
peope like us are some kind of “aesthetic” to others. We often are either romanticized or neglected. There’ no in between thats why we feel like statues . Then people who dont care come and stare at us. Witness our antics just for entertainment and not becuase they actually care but theyre only curious.
People like us have faults too. We depend on the carcasses of those toxic love and attention given to us even if it breaks us because thats what is available. And those people take advantage and abuse us. It’s a den of thieves. We intoxicate them and they suck the life out of is (or vice versa) thus , rummaging for answers in the pages.
and it's contagious
Ok
this song was legitimately about to make me cry
Why?
Why is she so amazing and creative and breaks all the rules, but follows all of them all at once?!
Agree.
Hyper sensitive + great parents == win
that's how real creativity works - learn the rules then break them.
Iconoclastic! Juxtaposition!
This song makes me feel so much
no shit. I'm sitting here, choking up, thinking "where is she now, the girl who once put this song on a mixtape for me?"
her mom is my music teacher
SuperRegina9 LUCKY
This was my best friend's all time favorite song. So now, when I'm listening to it, I travel back in time to see her again. ❤
She's amazing live. So beautiful and calming and perfect

Ayyyy

Yass
That movie is where i got the song from omg
Living in a den of thieves and it's contagious... reminds me of the episode of Adventure Time with the City of Thieves
Me too. That episode is one of my favorites.
Angel Scotch: Den of Thieves refers to energy stealers. Those that tries to keep one from Love.
Literally same!!
I came here from feel the beat after that lovely scene having fun in the mud lol "we dont suck!" it was so beautiful...
I don't know if I am just felling emotional right now, but I feel like I am going to cry listening to this song. Love the strings
I was literally looking for this comment I guess, 4 years later someone somewhere in this world is feeling the same just thought you should know.
This is a certified hood classic.
This brought me to 500 days of summer.
500 days of summer brought me here
+zer0 95 as most people my guess
+Robert Baur Except for everyone else who knew Regina was awesome before whatever you're talking about even came to be. lol.
+Feed the Fat Rabbit edgy
we'll wear our scarves just like a noose, but not because we want eternal sleep and though our parts are slightly used .....
New ones are slave labor you can keep!
Ahhh this song makes me so happy, i'm really addicted to it c:
This song makes me want to cry.
I love this song! It’s one of my favorites.🤩
It brings tears to my eyes, thank you Regina :)
....our noses have begun to rust!........Luvvit!!, One of the all time great RS lines! 😃😀🤣✌️&❤️‼️
When I was young, I'd watch this religiously and always be infuriated with Summer....now, as I've grown and experienced the ups and downs of love, I understand and appreciate it completely. It's a bittersweet story. It just takes some time to realize that neither one of them was really in the wrong.
Lets say that Summer dancing/flirting with him and inviting him to her home without telling him she was engaged could be conscidered at least insensitive. But I know what you mean, there is a lot to her. Doesn't not make her a bitch. Especially the farewell, when she puts her hand on him with the ring. That was at least insensitive, and more likely a big fuck you
One of my favorite songs!
3:56 when you try to sing both harmonies
Hey, that's my favorite part of the song.
I try in the car xD
I really need to thank my Language Arts teacher for putting this song on. And the song is in fact contagious and addictive
I see many people Commenting on the Movie 500 Days of Summer. I After seeing the Movie think this song lines up well with the Movie's plot. However I think the song should be admired for more then it's appearance in a Movie. The song talks about something hard to put into words. Its a song about losing Pride and reaching a Humbling stage in life, That's how I have interpreted the Lyrics. If you have anything to add please do.
CoconutIsBest this songs about communist leaders
haha did she say that?
most songs used in 500 days of summer fit pretty well with the plot. For example this song and "Hero" in the "Expectations Vs Reality" Scene.
CoconutIsBest yea, in Russia they named cities Stalingrad and Leningrad, they had statues of them, she also said it once
CoconutIsBest but you can interpret it any way you want
love this song
Never saw th movie but this is an amazing song so much passion in the vocals and instrumentation
you should watch it now. 👍👍👌
it's not mandatory, the song stands on its own. I actually knew it before the movie came out.
Bloody genius work.
I found Regina Spektor about 6 years ago and I'm still in love with her
I love this song so much ^~^
ugh i love her
This is a story of life 💎🌻💎
this is so awesome
Runescape introdouced me to this song and artist.
One of the games characters were inspired by Regina Spektor appearently and there is a easter egg in the game referring to this song.
I don''t know if this is the reference you're talking to, but after The Chosen Commander, Dorgesh Kaan builds a statue of the player and Zanik.
Thats the one yeah - According to one of the developers of Zaniks character and goblin quest series her voice is supposed to sound like Regina spektor (in your mind ofc since she is not voice acted)
Oh cool that makes perfect sense actually.
i love this song :D
this was my favorite song when I was like 3-4, and now I'm just realizing how much meaning the lyrics have lol
it's about the soviet union :)
This is contagious!

Magpiepony brought me here. And I love this song! ^^
OH GOD I CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO THIS!!! ITS WONDERFUL!! :D :D ;D
Love this song! The string section reminds me of "Astral Weeks" by Van Morrison
Good observation; never thought of that connection
I like reginas songs because you never know what it's about until you listen to it a few times or near the middle, even though it's a very specific thing shes talking about. I wish she did gospel songs, i think shed be amazing at that
looooooove it!
Oh God, I love this woman.
Just herd Regina Specta for the first first time 15 minutes ago .......M8, that was Good. Must drill deeper X
Wait, what is this song about?
Because i get a feeling it's like someone making you out to be a better person than you actually are and getting upset when they find out your just as bad as the rest of us.
"They made a statue of us" - when people make statues it's either one or two person or even three in each creation therefore there is something about these two,and about tourists, there are people happy seeing them together. It's more like two people were bashed by people around them and the bashing is so cruel that it was "contagious" that one of them could not handle it.Sorry bad english and that's my opinion.
I think it's about people making fun of them and trying to bring them down. But rather than letting them do that, she's perceiving the attention as positive. "living in a den of thieves" I think is trying to say that they're all really jealous of them and that's why they tried to belittle the relationship. "it's contagious" is about everyone just wanting what other people have. But idk, just my opinion. I always thought it was a really pretty love song.
I don't really know... Regina's lyrics aren't always easy. Sometimes I think they can be a bit surreal. But I like them because of that. They give room to interpretation. Not so much "in your face".
Am I the only one who thinks this is about late stage capitalism
@@thelouisfanclubyes. you definitely are.
2:30 to 3:04 was just simply Beautiful and Amazing and I LOVE it
Thank you for posting this 101musiclove101.

always have been my favourite song, and now I heard it from Don't Dare to Dream (Jealousy Incarnate) at the end :D
me too
Just became one of my favorite songs! But I don't exactly understand the meaning? #misunderstood
#hashtag
Its about a couple in love.......I think
o jocelyn teoyotl
I always took it as a kind of snarky song about putting people on pedestals and then finding out they're humans too
it's about the relationship between Europe and the US, nothing to do with love
I got this from 500 days of summer
It's still here, more or less. And sadly, I've still never seen 500 days of summer.
💯🖤 2022 March still here
My sister absolutely like this song.
I loved us.
Congratulations.
That drop though 0:56
So did we all get this song from 500 days of summer?
Ah, it's just something funny you say when someone is trying to prove a point. I do agree with you though :)
This song made me think of my ex... Fuck~
@LoyalMissSunshine THAT'S THE ONE :D hahaha thank you!
