Leeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!
No bias
A little overtuned, but a lot of fun.
Jack-8, please? Show the big boy some love!
Release week dragonov, Jun, Bryan all made me drop this game. As a Leo Main everything she does the others just do 2x better.
Also would love to see a Jack 8 or Lee Video.
That FC 1,4 needs to be removed from the combo equation. the wall caries potential is skyrocketing just because of this string......
At least Dragunov is respectful enough not to trash talk his opponents. He just arrives, kicks your ass, and leaves.
lol very true he’s a man of little words
@@Boogard He would much prefer to hum, instead.
Hwo being called out
@@TheXell More like Steve. "OVA HERE!" "These are the fists of a champion!" (eye twitches) :P
bro my oppponents just gets aggressive when i leave the intro on.
We can’t talk about T7 Drag being crap without mentioning he was a top tier in the earlier seasons. So far Tekken team is playing it safe not to repeat the same mistake they made by making Drag unusable after nerfing him, instead taking the approach of slowly chipping away at him till he’s settled at a manageable place.
mind you season 1 tekken 7 drag is weaker than the final version of him, the reason why drag fell off was because there were better options popping up every season
Honestly I'd rather fight 20 dragunovs than a single yoshimitsu. Jin is also annoying asf, and a good nina just makes you say "Why can she do that" the entire time.
Seconded. Tekken 8 Yoshimitsu is anti-fun.
I don’t mind fighting drag these days tbh
@@JunKazamaFan, true. "Oh, you're +8 or below? Let me just steal your turn by using Flash."
@@nosajoemorflash comes out at 6 frames. If ur +8 and yoshi flashes u, Just opt for 14 frame moves and less or just bait the flash and df2
Dragunov is dumb af but at least he has to block when he is negative...Yoshimitsu on the other hand...
Bro I WISH I was seeing Drag all day. Most Drags at my level play super-honest and are actually genuinely talented players. Instead I have to play against Xiaoyu, Yoshi, Hwoarang and Nina all fucking day....
Bro so fucking true I'm in the blue ranks and that's all I see
This is the reason why i stopped playing ranked. It’s just a bunch of idiots trying to see who can be the most annoying.
Imo i dislike the characters you mentioned more than dragonuv. At least i can actually see what drag is doing. Xiaoyu fuckin ducks under your crouch jab and nina fuckin rushdown side step cancels my ass to oblivion
I agree, most Drags i see mostly sidestep df2, have good deff, df1 a lot, poke with d2 and mixup with throws, which is all good old honest Tekken.
Even with Drag being the best in the game i never feel like i lost because off bullshit, its almost always the fact that the player was just flat out better then me at the game.
I actually quite like Dragunov, for many reasons other than his strength. It's refreshing to have a character that actually takes fighting somewhat seriously and not just in the "*I MUSTA BE DA BAEST*" way. All of his moves feel solid and just fuckin STRONG.
Not just in the damage sense, but in the weight. When he throws a kick it FEELS like you're throwing a heavy kick.
He also, out of almost all the fighters, has one of the more realistic fighting styles and moves. He doesn't have anything majorly flashy except his weird ass throw that starts by *putting his heel on your shoulder.*
He's just one of my personal favorites, and I've only just started playing him. Source for all this: a Steve main and martial artist (American Kenpo)
Someone on Twitter summed it up as "Dragunov fights like I f**ked his wife. This feels so personal." His strikes and throws feel like he's genuinely out to hurt you.
Drag's QCF+4 should have never made it through alpha testing. The balancing team literally looked at that move and said "Yap, all fine, next move!"
BRO GOT THE UBER EATS SPONSOR DAMN LOL
Use code Boogard15 (:
i love fighting dragunov, he's super strong, but he's relatively honest compared to nina and yoshimitsu, to the point that it actually feels nice losing to one, because I know where I messed up. Counterplay definitely exists, and it's clear what they are, but they're just really difficult to do, which is better than not knowing what the hell I'm doing wrong
I think the best way to set drag apart is like this:
jin and nina pay execution and complexity and get low risk and high reward
yoshi pays in risks and complexity for low execution and high reward
I don't know how alisa fits into this equation
dragunov just doesn't care, he's allowed low execution, low risk, and low complexity for high reward
it doesn't feel like he's cheated you but he's basically cheated the entire system
Drag is such a cool character too but hes been ruined by how op he is.
I mean, Dragunov is badass enough to surpass Mishimas, Reina, Yoshimitsu and any other characters with "domain expansion" sort of rage art by creating, all of a sudden... A WINTER.
Yuji
"where you go, I go"
Do a Jun video next.
She started as a top tier when it first launched, and now she became bottom tier to most competitive players after many patches.
Ooh yes I’d love to know more too about how she fell, bc in the beginning she was insanely broken, easily top 5
Been planning one recently
I played Dragunov in all of Tekken 7's time, I get abused and punished for being loyal to a low tier character.
I play Dragunov in Tekken 8 and now I'm called "tier picker".
Story of a dragunov loyalists 😭
I know the feeling :')
He was not low tier. Top tier on Season 1 and high/mid tier on other seasons.
He was only low tier season 4 right?
Was not expecting a dragunov video this is hype af
Been waiting to make one on him for a while was just waiting for a good time
I am feeling appreciated as I have been mastering Dragunov since Tekken 5 DR release
Mad respect bro
My main is Bryan (and Fahkumram).
I gave Drag a chance and coming from Bryan to play Drag is like turning a low budget vication into an 5-star all-inklusive.
Lmao what a downplay, Bryan really isn’t that bad. You can still mash 3+4 to your hearts extent.
@@danisflying see I’d agree with that if Bryan heat mode wasn’t dog cause I’m still playing tekken 7 in and out of heat 😭
@@danisflying--Guy who can't KBD/sidestep and whiff punish
I’ve mained this man through thick and thin from the start till the end of t7 still playing him in t8 even if they gut him
As someone who religiously mains Dragunov since DR, I'm just happy to play a crazy strong version of him.
It's so sad seeing a character like him being brought up from lows to highs, but at the same time brought down from respected to cheap. Especially since he is a character from a rare country as Russia, especially in a times like now.
I know a lot of people like him more as a incredible powerhouse, but I would much rather prefer him to be on the lower end of the tierlist, rather than on the higher.
He is a character I truly adore and a man doing same martial arts as me, Sambo, so it just hurts this much more seeing all the hate for him
Love him as a character but damn it gets so dull seeing the 67th Dragunov in a tourmament
A video about Nina would be interesting. She's received some of the biggest damage nerfs to her combos since the game released, but people still put her in top 3-5.
Definitely considering making one
These nerfs are hardly even nerfs, she is not top 5 but top 1 or 2.......
@@JustAnte9557 why though?
@@lukalucijanic2012 what do you mean by why?
If you refer to combos Nina players found new combo routes that include WS1
if you ask why is Nina top 2, she has counters off everything including off jabs which are fundemental for neutral play 1,4, 124, 1,2,1+2,
Her D2 low has extension so it's difficult to punish it, df12 itself has about 50 extensions, her 1+2 is fast marking mid -4 she can move afterwards, 3+4 another safe mid marking, her guns in heat are too good especially ws1,1+2.. her damage, pressure, overwhelming frames, 11 frames heat engager...
What do you mean by "why" the character is ridiculous and needs nerfs which is why everyone usually puts her top 2,3, she never loses her turn
Ngl in Tekken 8 i cant even tell who are real Dragunov mains anymore (like the one's who actually played him when he was absolutely dogshit in DR and T7) like most Dragunov mains i know only play him cuz he's giga busted OP and they wanted a easy but highly effective character which is a shame since the character is really cool in design and feel and his real mains are caught in the crossfire of being called tierwhores for maining the undisputed best character in the game
Bro drag was pretty strong early in t7 and kinda made a comeback by the end
@@ibromsnt2412 yea but most of T7 he was absolutely shafted due to getting giga nerfed
I play Law, Dragunov, and Nina. Out of all three Dragunov has the worst heat moves.
Law has an automatic punch perry that refills his heat bar, and his nunchunks are safe on block and you can combo on hit.
Nina has a move that wipes out your chip damage and will wall splat for a combo opportunity. Her guns get buffed which works great for combo enders, and they can also wall splat for additional combo damage.
Dragunov has one unbreakable throw, and unbreakable tackles. Your opponent can still break the chain grab after the tackle.
Dragunov's heat is barely better that Jin's.
As he is now, his heat isnt needed at all, so dont buff without nerfing other stuff and just like Jin just use it as a bound and heatsmash
Drags heat is honestly pretty shit like aside from his heat smash cause tackle is reactable as hell and u can beat it with a hop kick
The only great thing is how far the Heat Smash wall breaks. The unbrekable tackle especially with WR2 nerf, is kinda whatever and regularly get hopkicked.
Its crazy that even though both dragunov and azucena were very popular then nerfed around the same time one is still thought to be one of the best characters and the other is only used by specialists.
Don't mind me I'm just picking up my "I mained him in Tekken 7 so you can't accuse me of anything card" from the ground
Yea yea he's good gameplay wise and all but how didn't you mention how friggin cool he is. He's got amazing drip, prolly the most brutal fighting style. I swear his grabs and punchs look so crude yet so disciplined at the same time. Someone once said "Dragunov fights like I fucked his wife." That statements lived in my mind ever since.
Extensive Research: Listing to people complain on twitter 😂
Dragunov got his redemption after the end of Tekken 7
I use Drag as a second main just because its more fun to punish spam than react( my first is Feng because Retsu-chan) and in a way he kinda forces other players to actually play the game instead of just mashing their most effective ( "cheap") moves. Drag's only weakness apears to be his height--- the Russian snowman can be dominated by any competant Nina player that keeps clear of his hands and his mids he also can literally kick over most characters heads without injuring them so anyone wanting to try him should keep that in mind😅
Sponsorship? Let’s go bro got the bag 💪🏻
Thanks for the support I really appreciate it
Everybody cries when its a Dragunov and say its ez with him, yeah it is but no one talks about how he is the most coolest looking character with badass combos too. I play him because he is the coolest for me even when I played tekken 7.
The first time I saw him in T7 character select screen my eyes were sparkling, my mind was thinking "Who is this man? Why he looks so majestic?" He instantly became my main.
Maybe if no one talks about that it's because NO ONE thinks that.
Boring to watch
The funny thing is that even Tekken 7 Dragunov despite being bad STILL FUNCTIONS somehow and I use him there since the rest of the roster is SO unfamiliar to me.
Like head dropless Alisa without heat is so foreign to me I didn't pursue.
As for Tier lists I use most of the top tiers anyhow but I need to learn Yoshi and Shaheen etc.
I play dragunov because his coat is sick as fuck! (Bonus I think his humming is cute)
I play Q in the black color way in third strike for the same reason. (Coincidence that he also doesn’t have dialogue.
If dragunov gets nerfed into the fucking ground I’m still playing him
A playlist of just the Tekken 8 characters you covered would be very helpful. And please take a look at Jack 8, asking for a friend.
I started with Dragunov in April. I picked the character because people were complaining about him a lot.
In a way it was both a good pick and a bad one.
Good: the gameplay is intuitive for a fighting game newbie. You attack, attack, attack, and mix in throws if they just keep blocking. The combos are also fairly easy and there are no hard input moves.
Bad: seeing your character nerfed in every patch has not been fun. Also, I feel like I missed learning some of the fundementals because of how good dragunovs tools are. Also the lack of a good hopkick means that it took me a long time to understand how good a 15f low/throw crushing launcher is, and I needed to pick up Shaheen as my second for that realisation.
It's been a good run. Currently in Raijin, and if they fully gut Dragunov in a future patch I might switch to Shaheen fully.
I can't bring myself to hate on Dragunov. The man is one of the coolest characters on the roster and is an absolute blast to play!
U r such a pussy
Can you please make a video about *SHAHEEN* ?
- why is he so popular in Tournaments but not in online matches?
- why does he still have a very low play rate?
- and what can be done to make people play him more?
Definitely been thinking about covering him soon
A very fair assessment tbh (drag main since t7)
Me: *resists the temptation of an uber eats because i want to save money*
Boogard: "weeeeeell... you are not going to believe this but..."
Small correction at 1:12 . You say that Dragunov is the most popular character at all ranks at the game's launch but you provide a chart for the most popular characters in Tekken God and higher for September 2024. However, your statement is correct, Dragunov was the most popular character at launch with a pickrate of 7.47%.
Wasnt it reina
@@MOndry Reina was really close at 7.36% in the first month according to a popular chart I referenced. However, the creator of the chart Boogard references had a character popularity chart on release that placed Reina in 1st and Dragunov in 4th.
Yeah thanks for pointing that out it was an editing error and was supposed to be showing the data from the first month of the game when dragunov was the most popular character
If people put the time into Nina and Yoshi, it can surpass Drag over time. Both matchups are rough for Drag. Drag being too easy to execute is the reason why he's the best competitively right now.
Yeah he’s just super easy and consistent which makes him a perfect tournament character
Meanwhile me, wanting to have played Dragunov for the longest time because he's just so much cooler now (I've only been casually playing T3 and T5 and fell back in love with the series when Dragunov was introduced in DR) 😅 I'm not even really playing him super optimally as I wanna do more of his niche stuff. I agree his moves like qcf4 is way too good property wise but I hope he doesn't get nerfed back to T7 standards. Honestly, I feel so many other characters just need to further get buffed to have a further even playing field. I'd rather more buffs than nerfs in general. Great video!
Heheichi is busted as well. Sad that they made the characters brain dead in the game. Shield moves and heat smashing is mostly what happens in rank
Someone said earlier that if someone meets a Dragunov player in ranked he has the feeling that the Dragunov just ‘expects’ to win the match, as a Drag main, i can confirm that statement.😀
lol that’s really funny
yoshi just breaks the game with flash. i rather fight 10 drags than 1 yoshi.
Dragunov is the first character I got good at playing Tekken with back when Dark Resurrection first dropped and I played him exclusively in every Tekken since. But when I first picked up T8 he felt so weird to me that I couldn’t play him anymore.
I’ve tried King, Paul, and Bryan and they never clicked with me. I play Feng now because I used to play him in T5 and T6 and things are a little better now. But I want to go back to my long time main and I can’t because I know how busted Dragunov is right now.
I would rather fight Drag than Eddy.
As powerful as he is, he can be fought against and doesn't have some silly bs that you lose to.
Most times, you lose to better neutral
Idk if you've had sponsors before, but i watched it entirely, i literally always skip those but i really like ur vibes man haha hopefully you can eventually do youtube for a living you deserve it!
It’s my second ever sponsor so I’m still trying to get the hang of it but I really appreciate comments like this. Thank you
Target test music 🔥🔥🔥 congrats on all the sponsorships love the content
Really appreciate your support :)
We'll see if he repeats his T7 run of being top tier in the start and becoming a specialist character later lol
I started playing tekken at the very tail end of 7, and I mainly picked Drag because i wanted to do a Mads Mikkelsen Hannibal Lecter cosplay (plus his fighting style looked cool). Didn't know anything about him being trash, but I was having fun with him. Now into tekken 8, him being the best in the game, I'm just over here shrugging my shoulders. Ha ha ha.
Not the worst problem to have!
I started learning dragunov as learning tekken with reina was too difficult for me at first and I liked dragunovs design since tekken 7.
I am currently learning reina again just to keep my friends more happy but I will pick dragunov up after his nerfes next patch.
I mean, he seems to be a strong character, but I just don't enjoy playing as him.
Great and cool character, love the design, love playing as him... I also play as Heihashi and Kazuya
Not even to mention the fact they made literally everything about him easier. Still hate the change to ch wr2 by making it way easier to combo off
Dragunov is actually really cool both on his appearance and fighting style, he is just overtuned wich make people despise him, including myself but after watching him with another perspective, and giving him a russian tracksuit costume :), i like him quite alot now, he also feels very good to pilot and has a solid moveset
After Sergei, are there more complaints about Shaheen or Jin?
I'd like you to make a video about nina also. Why she's considered an S tier nowadays despite not many people playing her and her skill ceiling is high?
I feel like people have not played TEKKEN 7 at all. Statements like „One of the worst characters in tekken7“ doesn’t make any sense when he was the most powerful character in season 1 and season 2 and got nerfed a lot that’s why. He got nerfed. He been a powerful character since he first released in T5DR How do statements like these even make sense when you as a creator have no experience of anything before TEKKEN 8.
He was being played all the time in s1 and s2 in tournaments of tekken7 he was even the character Jdcr dropped heihachi in t7
Not sure what you’re talking about as I’ve been playing since 2018 in TEKKEN 7. It is true that I should have clarified that I was referring to his state towards the latter half of the games lifetime
@@Boogard that's why I said I "feel like", I generally like your videos and this one swell but it felt like you are giving into the narrative that new players are building around the character that he was bottom tier all the time and now suddenly became a monster of a character when he always was considered good and in tekken 7 called OP. I just noticed in most videos and most drag players like to leave out that part. Otherwise good job and love ur vids
At the start Drag was on top in T7 but over time people figured him out same will happen in T8 just you wait
There's an AI generated Korean song for Dragunov. Pretty much the Tekken and Ulsan's anthem now.
Him being called bad in 7 isn’t really fair. He was inarguably the best character in the game at launch through the first year.
For the first year yeah but then he got nerfed to the ground
i stopped listening after that, even after nerfs nowhere near low tier
I main drag because of the pure reason that if I lose I can’t have the excuse of my character is weak
so when was drag low tier in t7?
I think everyone agrees that dragunov is broken, but I still dont face him as much in purple ranks as alissa, yoshi and jin, which I personally find way more annoying
if drag gets nerfed to mid tier, who do you think will take over as the next tournament dominance?
he will still be played
Yooo a sponsor keep it up and u will make it to the big leauges eventually
Thank you so much:)
Personally i find Jin and Alisa more bullshit to play against. Even though his QCF 4 is dumb but I don’t mind fighting against him.
Shaheen Video never...
Sooner than you think!
@@Boogard
I'M COMING HOME.
The best thing you can do is say Shaheen is boring so I can get my free knowledge checks off people. It's hilarious how everyone accuses a lot of other players of downplaying when the greatest downplay you can pull is say someone is boring or "not cool". If you want a really good example of competitive people not being as logical and pragmatic as you'd imagine, CSGO had the SG 556 be a literal direct upgrade to the AK for years because it has a scope on it. Nobody gave a single damn about the rifle, and at worst would kick you for buying it due to their elitism overshadowing statistics. That was until Valve lowered the price of that rifle, and people learned how strong it was, begged that it be nerfed, and is in the state it is in now today
Just nerf his qcf4 heavily by maybe reducing range, +frames, tracking , or/and remove wall splat and OTG.
b4,3 alow more time to duck, because people spam this shit a lot, and optionally nerf hatchet by removing CH guaranteed follow-up and hopefully he will be ok.
I hope they don't kill him completely this time because he's cool character with amazing combos.
He’s probably not the best designed character. No one really complains about him anymore because; he’s fun to play, and everyone plays him. Like fox in melee lol, fun to play despite being extremely strong.
Ppl always saying Drag is soooo popular mean while I see a Drag once a week.
If people think is more fun to play the Character who is the strongest that's fine nothing wrong with that,
But (just how I feel about it) I don't like playing that way (for me) it really takes the fun out of the game and just become Boring and unsatisfying, even at the release when Asuka (have been for a long time and still is my favorite Character) really did struggle ALOT and some matche's were nearly impossible to win I still had fun
Do one for older tekkens maybe 6 or 5 would be fun, maybe a who was the undisputed kings in older titles
Been working on something very similar!
Been playing drag since his inception in Tekken 5 and even I can say hes kinda busted. Most if not all drags play the same and it makes mirror matches just tedious. Anticipating a big nerf soon
I remember when T7 dragunov was so ass and Feng was the hated one
Hopefully he takes some big nerfs cause they lowkey ruined this character☠️
crazy because how my fave character gets so much hate all of a sudden thats hes top tier
Love the content man, also the excuse to destroy people's day in ranked while "researching"
Glad my videos are helpful lol
As someone who played Dragunov from Tekken Tag 2, to Tekken 7, to Tekken 8, I understand the hate, but also we have had to suffer for years, so get over it.
Yeah you guys deserve this haha
Damn i mained Dragunov in tekken 7 and now i feel ratty for maining him in tekken 8 😭
Same dude I feel like I’m cheating😭
If you like Dragunov, play him. I won't think less of you.
@@JunKazamaFan I will
@@JunKazamaFan nah for sure but at the same time i hate using meta so its like damn 😭😭 its whatever tho Dragunov is my guy
I fully expect Dragunov to be brought down-to-earth very soon. Maybe that will rehab his reputation in 8.
The king of iron fist 8?!
i still wonder to myself like who the hell is approving these characters bro!? im telling you now YOSHI is completely broken and might be the next KING of Tekken 8
lol yeah there’s alot of broken characters in this game
@@Boogardi hope u do a fair job. And make comparisons from t7 to actually point out she lost a ton of moves from t7.
Like Evil mist giving a FREE launch in t7 when in t8 it doesn't do anything, i think 10 dmg on hit and that's it. While Yoshi still has it from t7. She lost a ton of strings from t7, her f3 was +6 and now only +3, she does have an i13 ch launcher but it is very inconsistent and has execution, it being not one hit but and entire string f2,1,4. So u have to commit. It was different in t7. In t7 b4 was a monster move, if u knows iws1 combos u could do 102 dmg easy, no wall, in t8 highest excecution gives u 78 dmg, different route so more excecution,it is not worth it. From t7 parry she could go into chain throws, she can't in t8. Nina mains expected guns dmg in heat nerf, surprised she didn't get it, we expect it still, those are both high so u can duck... So, she got new stuff, but she also lost alot of really strong stuff. I think she is very strong in t8 but personally fail to see she is top tier, but alot of people agree she is so, maybe...
Theres another term for this but its not necessarily family friendly... 8:32
I still think Nina and yoshi are leagues above him 😭
I’ll have to cover nina soon in a video
Iirc JDCR dominated T7 season 1 with Drag before the nerfs.
Yeah drag was good at the very start of TEKKEN 7
This game is literally not Tekken. There are too big changes they gave super attacks. Plus frames, they threw the defense to the trash. Most players play it like a 2D game. Additionally, there are characters like Jin, yoshimitsu, dragunov and King Who even break the rules of this game I literally played jin and you can go through skull prepanation and still get to pretty high ranks. And as a cherry on the cake, microtransactions as aggressive as if taken straight from free mobile games. It's strange that we don't have to watch commercials between fights. But you can't pick on them Tekken 8 identifies itself as a free2play game. I literally look at this state of the game and think that either everyone went on vacation or they are complete idiots.
Nobody play optimal reina, only yagami play optimal by optimal i say use key moves for neutral, he spam qcf3.

"Dragunov was a low tier in Tekken 7"....REALLY? Because his running 2 decimated opponents in the first year of that DogSxit game.
Yeah I meant he was low tier at the end of the game
Oooga booga win game carried. Its sad when Bryan players requires brain power and Dragunov player requires 1 functioning brain cell to do WR 2.
10 seconds in - wait who thinks tekken 8 is completely balanced and the best so far 😂😅😢😮
Lmao who said Tekken 8 was balanced 😂😂😂
I dont think he is the best Character anymore. I think Yoshi is better. Stealing your turn with Flash , b4 spin to win , homing guardbreak where you have zero counterplay against it, absurd oki with fc df1 and f1+2 and the permanent lifegain with the soulsword . No other Character breaks the rules of Tekken like this guy
Yoshi is way stronger than
