I published my first children's picture book with KDP a couple of weeks ago and have had extreme variations in print quality ranging from poor to fairly poor. I stumbled across BookVault on a small channel I'd never heard of before so checked it out and WOW!!! I'm in the middle of re-ecporting my book files this evening and can not wait to order my BV proof. Will probably unpublish my KDP version and replace with BV version.
Thank you Emma, very helpful. Would you consider creating a video on how you format your children’s book for BookVault? There is nothing on line I’ve been able to find and I’m having trouble working it out.
Hi Emma, how does one handle the layout as a spread especially for childrens books when you have an illustration that spans both pages? Does bookvault only allow for single page setup (and trim the 3mm bleed on all sides)?
Hi Emma, your videos are so incredibly helpful, thank you for making them. I'm currently trying to format my first Hardcover children's picture book (216mm x 216mm) on BookVault, but for the life of me, the hardcover interior files and the wrap colour of the Cover isn't right when I view the finished product in the BookVault preview. I recently followed your formatting tutorials for Ingram, hoping it would be similar for BookVault. I would be so appreciative if you could post a video on how you formatted your children's hardbook cover and interiors for BookVault printing.
Very helpful! Re. what you said about it being more expensive to have bookvault send out books via website integration or whatever, I'm wondering how true that might really be. Yes, in terms of direct money spend, but overall? I'm thinking about packing books up and getting them in the post, and the admin stuff you don't have to do when it's done for you - when you take into account the additional time that takes, if you put a nominal value on you time (say minimum wage hourly rate) would that hold true? Of course it depends on how efficient someone is at doing all those things, but is it something you factor in for yourself? And what about orders that come in when you can't fulfil them quickly (eg away for a few days)? I don't know how you'd put a value on having those dealt with more quickly, but I can imagine scenarios where too much of a delay could have a financial impact. Also, the more I think about the £20 set up fee (with 5p change) the more that feels OK, as long as you sell enough books. Once you've sold 100 books, that works out at 20p per book. At 1000 books it's just 2p per book. (I watched this because I've started putting together a large print / large trim size book that makes more sense in landscape and so am looking for an alternative to KDP.)
I've been considering bookvault for some time now but there hasn't been much news/reviews on them particularly regarding their print quality for children's books, so this was helpful, thank you! How many books can you upload with the £19.95 set up fee? It's not clear online...unless I'm missing something.
Have you used Bookvault? How did you find it?

Yes - although it was the same as for other POD printers. This might be helpful? bookvault.app/getting-your-files-right-with-bookvault/

How did you get on with this? Did you figure it out? Have you published with BV yet?
Very helpful!

Absolutely agree with you. It depends on the volumes you’re handling

I think that’s the price per title. It’s to prevent people uploading low content or poorly produced books quickly
I see, thank you.
Definitely very helpful! Now to explore more of your videos 🙂
@@janh4203 yay!
Super helpful thank you!
