From time-to-time I carry a 1969 S&W Model 36 with an exposed hammer. I carry it in the front pocket and to draw it, I place my thumb over the hammer to keep it from snagging...very effective handguns.
I noticed that too. I was really surprised. Smith used to be the number one choice of LEOs everywhere around my area. I'd like to get one of those Kimbers some day. I have a Micro 9 Bel Aire special edition that I wear to church on Sundays. It's my Sunday dress up gun!👔
I've bought LCRs in .38, .38/357, and .22 mag. I kept my 442! Carry it a ton with old school wood grips I sanded down and thinned to the max possible and added a Tyler T grip. It's by far my favorite snubbie even though I have a good # more spread around the house. Glocks are amazing and I own more than a couple...but a snub is all day, every day, every clothing choice and as a bonus for me...I've always got a snub with some snake shot loaded for fishing, even with another gun along....water moccasins are just way too aggressive.
I like the K6S just because it's more aesthetically pleasing. And you can actually fire .38 special out of a .357 magnum revolver to help reduce the recoil since a .357 is literally just a slightly longer high velocity .38 and they're the same diameter.
The kimber is a great carry gun. True the 357 amo does carry a punch but load it with the 38 +P & you have punch and accuracy. The weight of the revolver really helps keep the kick down. I am able to consistently hit steel targets at 25 yards . Great video. Thanks.
Great review Jacki, and just what I was looking for since I am buying for my daughter. And very cool to see you actually fire 357 from the Kimber: most reviews that I saw only fire 38+p from it. God bless.
@Bluenest022 it could be good & bad. When at range & shooting for fun, you get a nice bang & flash like bigger caliber. Not much recoil , half the price (normally) In low light defensive use it might be a problem as the noise & flash might disorient you but if could also deter or change the attitude of attacker? If perp’s are not sure they were shot at as compared to knowing they were shot at? FIBSA! If ands buts. Some 22 magnums that are shot out of snuby revolver have a huge fire ball(hunting rifle rounds) but they make defensive rounds for short barrels that have less flash & claim to meet fbi gel test standard. 🍻✌️
642 air weight with spring kit and I pocket carry it everyday everywhere with Sig elite performance V-crown defense JHP I also carry the Glock 26 IWB but the air weight is Always on me no matter what , it’s an excellent carry gun for power / weight / conceal ability / accuracy & price ! 🤩✌️🇺🇸
You should try same loads in the three guns to be able to compare comfort-ability of shooting. Remember that a .357 Magnum can handle a .38 Special and a .38 Special +p. Also the Kimber has better sights and 6 rounds. The price would be the only issue. Kimber K6s should be compare to a S&W 640 Pro, a Colt King Cobra Carry or a Ruger SP101.
Very nice. Try the S&W M&P 340. It's very lightweight but if you get the 360PD grips and shoot the Winchester white box 357 mag 110gr JHP that it's surprisingly manageable and not as painful yet achieving good stopping power.
I own the 642 S/W it's awesome price is right. Carrying it wrks well IWB. Or pocket Carry or on the hip in a kydex stile either way so far so good great video 📹
Thanks For The Video I Have The Ruger 38 LCR To So It Looked Good Seeing Another Women Shooting It Thanks Again Would Like To See More Videos On Revolver’s
Hey Jacki, GREAT Review... I carry a S&W 642 with traditional j-frame rosewood grips and a Tyler T-Adapter on my ankle in an original Lou Alessi Ankle Holster! i also have a 442 w/syn ivory boot grips that carry's well too ';-) thanks!
what? no mention that the kimber can also chamber 38 special and shoot them much SOFTER than the other 2 revolvers? "this is the kind of revolver you shoot a few times and then put it back in its holster." no..... load it with 38 special and shoot all day long. thats a failure to mention a pretty fundamental feature of the 357 chambering.......
Fully agreed. Found it funny they made it sound special the others could shoot +p Any gun made after 2000 that can't handle that is a failed attempt at a self defense gun IMHO. Most law enforcement myself andy father who shot in tournaments with swat and ex military all agree 38+p/9mm is the absolute minimum for self defense. With 357,45acp,45lc,and 10mm being the best handgun wise. Im preferential to 357 and 45lc myself.
@@JacquelynBillings perhaps it's just me being sleep deprived and how I audibly interprit things. I suppose I simply assume any modern 38 can shoot +p otherwise as I stated before its a failed attempt of a gun to me if it can't.
Jacki, good call mentioning the +P capability of these revolvers as there ARE models out there which do not warrant +P ammo. I imagine some in your audience are starting out and won’t realize initially why some models are industry leaders and why some should be avoided. Very little bit of info helps.
Jacki is a babe. Having gotten that out of the way, I appreciate seeing women shooting and giving their perspectives on firearms; every good video offered up by a women - one who exhibits an understanding of firearms and who shows ability - is a foundation that helps other women consider embracing the use of firearms. None of my own daughters cared for guns, even though I carried them, until I managed to generate an interest that cut through this sense (a sense that, in my opinion, we really don't address) that "guns are for guys" or really too scary for girls. I'll add this: when Jacki shot the Kimber it appeared that she was firing .357 ammo instead of easy .38 ammo. If so, kudos for having the grapes to up the ammo game. Not many would do that when simply comparing snubs.
1:58 wouldn't it be easier for right-handed people to reload a revolver if the actual revolver part drops out to the right instead of the left? Is there a reason it drops out to the left?
The concept is to keep the gun in your firing hand. I'm right handed and I reload just fine with my left.. Same deal as playing guitar (couldn't imagine fingering with my right) or catching a baseball in our left with a mit. Some things we just do better with our left.
Revolvers were invented before being left-handed was accepted. I'm left-handed. I handled the only swing-out revolver recently marketed to southpaws, a model from Charter Arms. Having already trained extensively with "normal" wheelguns, I was really thrown off by it. No thanks. If I'm used to right-handed guns, I imagine right-handed shooters are as well. ;-)
@@Just1American1966 Isn't it strange how even us righties do certain things left handed? Catch a baseball.. and I couldn't imagine playing guitar with right hand on the fret board. I wonder how many left handed revolvers Charter has actually sold.
Great video im not down with kimber not after kimber rust on the 1911 models the ruger is a little over priced for a 38 i'd go with the smith&wesson purple grips and all kinda reminds of nightmate before Christmas lol
This is what comes of people reviewing guns that know very little about them. Not that I'm professing to be an expert, but no one in the know about revolver cartridges loads a snub nose revolver with .357 due to the excessive felt recoil accompanied by the much lower ballistic performance out of a barrel length from which it was never meant to be fired. If she had been shooting .38 SPL out of the K6s, she would have easily understood that the all steel construction of the K6s would have soaked much more of the overall felt recoil making for much faster followup shots, as well as making for a much more pleasurable shooting experience that easily outshines the other models in this comparison! One thing you won't get with the cheaper guns is the much more refined match grade trigger and refined overall design. The K6s is an all steel gun which soaks up recoil better than the air weights and polymer hybrid frame guns. The K6s is certainly the most expensive of the 3 revolvers listed, but you get what you pay for! The K6s is on par with performance center Smith & Wesson revolvers commanding a similar price tag. You have to compare apple to apples. It's also important to note that scandium frame air-weight Smith's are not nearly as strong as their steel counterparts! An over built gun like the K6s if you are shooting .38SPL and .38 SPL +P will likely hold up better over time than the cheaper guns!
Maccus Weil, I think snub-nosed revolvers have their place in CCW applications for both men and women alike. The two primary advantages I see that the enclosed hammer design revolvers have over semiautomatic compact guns is that they don't have the potential to get hung in the fabric when cycling if fired from a pocket. Also, they can't be pushed out of battery during a defensive force on force encounter should the muzzle be pressed against a human body during the said encounter. With that said, I agree with you that the .357 cartridge is much better to the fired from a longer barrel and as you mention, you have the added advantage of more ammunition choices to be fired from a single firearm. I like alternating every other cartridge of .38 SPL + P and standard power .38 SPL to help with recoil anticipation to refine and keep sharp marksmanship fundamentals.
Which one do you like better? I always wanted a revolver and I'm looking at the 642 or the LCR. My wife doesn't really care for guns and doesn't want to learn how to use a pistol either. However, she wants a point and shoot gun that isn't too complicated and one of these revolvers would be perfect.
Is it just me who's not impressed these can shoot 38+p? In my opinion any gun like these made after the year 2000 that can't handle +p is a failed attempt at a gun. 38+p/9mm is the absolute minimum I and many law enforcement officials myself and my father know is sufficient for self defense and stopping a threat. 357 being optimal and amongst if not the best of all handguns for self defense.
