  • We spend some time with friends that just bought a small boat and are starting their learning process from scratch.
In this video we show them how to fold their sails so they can fit in a bag as well as be easily deployable.

I'm going to do it in the next 5 years. Kids are out of school. And go see the world.

The basics are important. Perfect conditions for this, dry and zero wind!

Clark is a man’s man. That’s my opinion and (wink, wink) the only one that matters. Clark, we need to be able to get the knowledge in your head into some AI chat bot and save it for future generations.

Then you just shove I'd down the hatch and deal with it later.

Question, is it ok to fold like this with sails that have slides instead of hanks? I've been afraid to fold the slide

What I think of as a slide isn't much larger than a hank. If so no problem.
I mentioned slides when the guys were folding that other main.

Next, folding and changing while underway?

Same thing. Stretch the foot from foredeck to cockpit along the weather rail. Sometimes, you need to hang on.

I need to learn how to fly a spinnaker. Any interest in making a video about that?

I don't carry one anymore. I used to have a 2000ft² monster, but it was too much for ocean work.

Not a good idea to include sheets. Ropes retain and attract moisture which then inevitably leads to mould. Then you end up with pretty green splotches to clean off your sail. Easier just to store separately.

That's a point. Haven't seen it much myself but I've always sailed my boats a lot.
