I can say I'm proud so say I belong to the group that actually bought this when it first came out on wax. So many great memories I can't imagine how today's music will hold up to the test of time like a classic like this, that has stood the test of 36 years of musical changes. This is pure enjoyment for many years to come, just look at the comments from the younger generations below.

Those Republicans don't want none of this! (---right before I demonstrate why it's called "break"dancing and get taken away on a stretcher just seconds into bustin out with my fresh new moves)
It wouldn't be a contest. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has already been seen bustin' some moves. What Republican could hang with her...lol. She's from the Bronx. She's got some of that blood pumpin' through her veins.
Anthony Morales. Lol your lucky! I was born in the new era. All these new Rappers are not like the ones in the 80s. Happy my dad can show me them though. At least I have him. Heheh
We use to take cardboard boxes from behind the grocery store at the bus stop and battle way back in the day. We didn't have big ghetto blasters going to school, but we pirated music from the radio and played it on a little cassette player and did what we could. Lots of poppin and lockin, and I remember to this day when my friend Mike pulled off a windmill and he was our king for the year.
This song got the party started, and everybody on the floor! My BFF tried to teach me how to break dance and pop lock off this song! That was over 35 years ago!! One of my favs! Still the jam along with “Cheap Thrills!”👏🏼👍🏽
Thank goodness for youtube! This was an era when everybody danced. Even if you couldn't, you at least tried. Exciting times to practice pop locking and unique break dance moves. Wow! I'll never forget the wonderful memories. Play at your own risk.
This was the gang members in the 80's and 90's I remember watching this battles In my home town 503 🇸🇻🇸🇻🇸🇻when I was a little kid to me it was amazing everything was just dancing and having good time . Now unfortunately Things changed everthing is about killing each other 😔 that's whyi alwaysstay on 60's,70's,80's and 90's music because it was the best era to live and enjoy a party with friends👌👌👌 With this fantastic era and music 👌👌👌
For those youngsters and non New Yorkers, this was filmed at the Roxy the best roller disco on earth. The floor was a dream to skate on the hardwood was silky smooth and sat atop a layer of cork which made impact cushioned, you could skate all night. These were the 2 premiere break dancing crews in the world at the time. The New York City Breakers in Red and The Rock Steady Crew in blue
i remember me ,and my cousin riding through the neighborhood on our BMX bikes. He would tie his massive boom box to the handle bars..Blasting out this song ,and many others..We thought we were so cool..Great times.
i could watch this a million times over n over n over again, i was a youngin in this era but lived enough to know this era that built hip hop culture..no guns, nobody gettin jumped, jus get your crew n whereva we at, in the park, at school, in the club, lets battle!
Full blast, with the radio on your shoulder blowing directly into your right ear. Who needs both ears anyway? One is plenty- anyhow even if I could still hear out of both ears, the constant ringing would be twice as loud, so I wouldn't be able to hear anyway- sigh, good times. I'd trade that right ear and raise you a right eye to have the 80s back.
In a recent interview with Mr Wave, he talked about how intense this battle actually got. To the point the directors had to step in. His reaction to Doze jumping in at 01:16 was 100% authentic. Shout out to the legendary New York City Breakers (Beat Street) and the legendary Rock Steady Crew (Bronx Rockers)
No, we battled with guns a lot more frequently than we did with dance moves back then... This clip is from a movie. It doesn't represent the reality of the streets and street violence of the time. 213 818 ... 310.
So right . Kilmarnock, Scotland. Myself and friends trying to get better every day. 1984. Out on cold winter nights with cardboard and linoleum. The best day's ever. Going to the plaza, Glasgow for big battles. Lol. Peace. Happy New year
Same, as a kid in Birmingham, getting our hands on them white label vinyls, rushing home to put on tape to hit the streets with yer crew, a massive blaster and a roll of lino. Some great tunes from afrika Bambata, all the electro albums, Tommy Boy and so on.
This is how we battled back then at our skating rink. Our school against other schools. But we did it out of fun just to have a good time n bragging rights.
What an era for music! Back in the day, my brother and I owned and operated large laundromats with video arcade rooms. We pumped this song throughout the stores. It was a favorite with the young people playing games and our laundromat customers.
Battling DJ's.... Battling B Boys.... if you are from NYC.. you remember COLLIN BROTHERS Mt. Vernon vs DJ Playboy Snapper... Terrible T from STAMFORD CT... DEF NATION from Norwalk CT... Great Times.. Thanking the LORD I was THERE! ...
This is great! This is what was happening when i was a teenager. I cant remember anyone i ever knew getting shot in senseless violence..this is how they battled. These guys are just incredible! Loved it. Thank you
The good ol day's 4 sure!!!! Everybody dressed accordingly, everybody ( for the most part ) got along, parties were funny n clean. Lot's of dancing and break dancing. The music was killer back then. It was easy and clean. Glad was able to experience that. Gracias a Dios!!!! Enjoy......
One of the first tracks I ever bought as a kid of 8 in the local record store in Kent England! Right after I bought Planet Rock as my Dad was buying all the Frank Zappa CD’s as CD’s had just come out lol! Happy days - love it!!
You must have got a repress of Planet rock, cd's weren't in any record stores in Kent until many years after when Planet rock first released. Cd's didn't filter into stores straight away it took quite a while before stores had them I'd say not until the late 80's I'm sure I hadn't seen one until the ideal home expo in about 87-88
I was blessed and fortunate to grow up in this era my brother and I will DJ's back on 176th Street and Grand avenue Joe ski and Mike ski from rocksteady lived in the building right next to me and rapped at my brother's 13th birthday party
I first heard this in 1983 when I was 13... had a tape with this on, AB and the Soul Sonic Force, Jonzun Crew, Grandmaster Flash, Shannon and Candido. I played this in the garden and my tape melted in the sun! I was gutted!
Who's watching this Breakdancing video in May 2024?? This was the realest attraction ever!!!

Anthony Morales. Lol your lucky! I was born in the new era. All these new Rappers are not like the ones in the 80s. Happy my dad can show me them though. At least I have him. Heheh
Soon it will be the 2020 s....and nothing but crap
40 years ago as it was released in 83'
I’m a 86 baby but thanks to my Unc R.I.P Bulldog for taking us skating and showing me what it do ✊🏾✊🏾💯💯
Thank goodness for youtube! This was an era when everybody danced. Even if you couldn't, you at least tried. Exciting times to practice pop locking and unique break dance moves. Wow! I'll never forget the wonderful memories. Play at your own risk.
This was the gang members in the 80's and 90's

Much Respect to you and your Dad!
Yolanda Medina that was funny. I get lit and then try, almost busted my ass
I saw Planet Patrol perform this at the Funhouse.
Knowledge...
@elkstereidolon3523 Yes!
I have a rocket in my pocket. Two tickets for The Roxy!
Yes but there were also parts filmed at the Oasis in Ridgewood Queens
i remember me ,and my cousin riding through the neighborhood on our BMX bikes. He would tie his massive boom box to the handle bars..Blasting out this song ,and many others..We thought we were so cool..Great times.
I loved your comment and laughed out loud
You "thought" you were cool? Well, that's because you were/are.
Everyone carried boom boxes😂
i could watch this a million times over n over n over again, i was a youngin in this era but lived enough to know this era that built hip hop culture..no guns, nobody gettin jumped, jus get your crew n whereva we at, in the park, at school, in the club, lets battle!
Break dancing, roller skating & house parties, I miss this era❤💙
misscarmen585 right , every time I go roller skating I was always put this type of music on . Hands down the best 🤣❤️
Amazing years
Mannn WHAT!!!
I miss it too...used to go roller skating at United Skates of America in NYC
misscarmen585 Don’t forget block parties. Never went to one. I was too shy :(
That's how you pose to handle beef in the club even the dopeman got down back in the day.... Ooouuu where is my time machine?
Mista Sandman yes because I'm a ex drug pusher
I'm working on it...give me a minute and it will be up and running
Baytown city breakers...bet
If you ain't listening to it on full blast, you aint playing it right.
#YESSUHblessuh
666 Mafia. i know we blew out a many tweeters and busted a many sub woofers. with all that BASS.
I love it....full blast of course!
skating ring days latenite
Full blast, with the radio on your shoulder blowing directly into your right ear. Who needs both ears anyway? One is plenty- anyhow even if I could still hear out of both ears, the constant ringing would be twice as loud, so I wouldn't be able to hear anyway- sigh, good times. I'd trade that right ear and raise you a right eye to have the 80s back.
Play at your own risk, you choose. It could set you free. These were the good old days, pure clean fun. I love all the smiles on their faces 😅
This some of the best ever ever.
Can you link that interview
@@nickrock23 Okay, at work rn. But I'll look for it later...
I don’t know why, the red crew clearly smoked those dorks wearing blue jeans.
@@twatts1523 Those "dorks" are part of a legendary crew. For some reason, they only had a few menbers, who weren't the best, repping in this scene.
I am here March 2024, this was my teenage years. NO SOCIAL MEDIA. Physical fun! P-L-A-Y!
Back when people battled with dance moves instead of guns.
yup yup so true...battled yet still had fun
yes ma'am them were the day's
Alma do hip hop!!!
No, we battled with guns a lot more frequently than we did with dance moves back then... This clip is from a movie. It doesn't represent the reality of the streets and street violence of the time. 213 818 ... 310.
I guess that depended on your neighborhood or part of the country.
Who remembers watching the battle scene with your boys every day?
Beat Street-Legendary Battle at The Roxy. NYC BREAKERS vs ROCK STEADY CREW. HIP HOP HISTORY
That's true so cal steady rockin
Thanks Planet Patrol for this great song!!!!
This is how we battled back then at our skating rink. Our school against other schools. But we did it out of fun just to have a good time n bragging rights.
I was born in the mid 60s I miss all the good music I don't know what the hell they doing these days yasssssssss yasssssssss
What an era for music! Back in the day, my brother and I owned and operated large laundromats with video arcade rooms. We pumped this song throughout the stores. It was a favorite with the young people playing games and our laundromat customers.

Enjoy......

An era of time that’s timeless; and can never be touched!
Those Were The Good Ole Days!!🤗🔥💖
One of the first tracks I ever bought as a kid of 8 in the local record store in Kent England! Right after I bought Planet Rock as my Dad was buying all the Frank Zappa CD’s as CD’s had just come out lol! Happy days - love it!!
You must have got a repress of Planet rock, cd's weren't in any record stores in Kent until many years after when Planet rock first released.
Cd's didn't filter into stores straight away it took quite a while before stores had them I'd say not until the late 80's
I'm sure I hadn't seen one until the ideal home expo in about 87-88
I was blessed and fortunate to grow up in this era my brother and I will DJ's back on 176th Street and Grand avenue Joe ski and Mike ski from rocksteady lived in the building right next to me and rapped at my brother's 13th birthday party
I wish we can go back to the 80's and 90's this was the life.

Pole position, bebe! Where are my old breakers at? Yes! Bebe! Yes!
Saudades dos bailes aqui no Rio de Janeiro. só tenho que agradecer. Não entendo como as coisas hoje são tão diferentes.
I first heard this in 1983 when I was 13... had a tape with this on, AB and the Soul Sonic Force, Jonzun Crew, Grandmaster Flash, Shannon and Candido. I played this in the garden and my tape melted in the sun! I was gutted!
Freestyle skating to this was the best time of my life!
