It’s not “Mata Ne.” It’s Mata ni, but the “i” is pronounced as “e”. Another example is “Kita.” Kita is pronounced as “ke-ta.” Mata ni, that’s the feminine pronunciation. @@domgrimard thanks !
this was awesome!! How'd you plan such a trip?
@@0xCUBE a lot of preparation went down! Couple years to plan everything out. Feel free to ask me specific questions.
Awesome video Dom, made me reminisce on my many road trips done in hokkaido and dream of going back. What was the camper van company you rented with?
disregard just seen the credits hahah
@@minchin8haha yeah, they’re in Narita though, we took a 17 hour ferry to bring that camper to Hokkaido. We wanted to have the option to go to the Japanese alps as well so that’s why we rented the van there.
@@domgrimard damn thats a big effort for a short trip, been thinking of checking out the tohoku region but not sure I can go past that hokkaido pow
Amazing bro ⛩️😍
Cheers! Can’t wait to go back!!
@@domgrimard 🙌🏻🙌🏻
when you hiked up furano bowl did you overtake a kid and his dad walking up with skis?
looks like the day we hiked up, incredible snow
@@kane-vn6bn we sure did! Was this you guys?
@@domgrimard certainly was! back there in 6 weeks for a few months! you heading back?
so happy you put this up, epic video, thank you!
@@kane-vn6bnsick! Unfortunately I can’t go this winter but definitely going back soon!
@@domgrimard when you do drop a line if you like.
What font you using? Sick edit btw.
@@Gphdigz thank you! Very good question, I would have to open the project again because i’m not sure which one this is.
Hey man sick vid! Trying to plan a first boys trip out there after a school ski trip, a bit stressful trying to find one spot, let alone doing something like this. Do you think Myoko holds enough for us to do a week-two week trip, so far it seems like the best Japanese experience. Cheers, enjoy your dauntingly long wait for the next trip
@@marleyfa thank you for the comment! Frankly I prefer Hokkaido as it’s a 90% chance of great pow where as Myoko will most most likely be a 50-50, they do get rain sometimes. So I would suggest if you wanna take a trip in the Japanese Alps, go late January. That way you’ll increase your chances of pure Japow snow. No one likes to go to Japan for heavy wet snow!
Hey Dom I love your Video and just booked a flight to sapporo 2025 february, was wondering was it tricky to drive in the snowy conditions?
@@XRabidNlnjaX to be honest it can be, especially when your not on main roads. You’ll find the streets to be super narrow sometimes so it can get a little tricky when a car is coming towards you in the other direction. So watch out for that and make sure you get a 4x4 vehicle and your international drivers license.
@@domgrimard do you have any recomendations for rental companies?
@@XRabidNlnjaX well the rv that we rented was in Narita (near Tokyo) So I couldn’t tell you a particular company near Sapporo. I’ve done some research before and I know that there’s a few. They tend to be a little pricier than any rental companies on Honshu for some reason.
Nice clip duuude
@@VilmaLindblom thank you! 🙏🏻
my goal now is to live in hokkaido indefinitely once I hit retirement at 43
@@simunator i’m 43 right now, certainly not retired yet, I wish though.
Back to Hokkaido back country in Jan 💪 👍 japow
@@ScrotieHongKong awesome enjoy the pow!
What was your favourite venue on Hokkaido?
@@romvanstolk3605 venue as in what resort? If so, Furano by far is my favorite resort! Big, steep, and not as crowded as other resort we tend to avoid such as Niseko.
Ça vas! Vous avez dormi au RV même?
Presque toutes les nuits sauf 2 ou 3 nuits où nous avons loué des airbnb.
this was fuckin awesome fellas
Thank you!

Good work. But I see a few of your pow runs are under the lifts. You ever wonder why those are untouched? Because it's prohibited to ride under the chairs. While you guys are giving hi five those Japanese in the lift are probably saying something else
What can I say, sometimes when you see untouched pow it’s hard to avoid it. We just couldn’t help ourselves!
Says who. in Europe you ride wherever you wan't.
It’s not “Mata Ne.” It’s Mata ni, but the “i” is pronounced as “e”. Another example is “Kita.” Kita is pronounced as “ke-ta.” Mata ni, that’s the feminine pronunciation. The masculine version is “mata na!”
Another word to say when conveying “see ya” is “ja ni.” It’s pronunciation is “ja-ne.” The masculine version is “ja-na.”
@@Anukulous you could’ve said something before I put this movie online! Hahah just kidding.
@@domgrimard sorry i saw your video in a random list and loved it. It’s a tiny error that people outside of Japan won’t catch. 😎👍🏻
