    So what are your thoughts on this watch? Was it a good idea for Samsung to ditch TizenOS and move to WearOS??

    it is a good cooperation with Samsung. There are some things they could possibly add or change. for example, make the Galaxy Store available on the watch. so you have more options to choose from. I love this watch. Literally the only 2 things I dislike are nitpicks, the red accent on the home key, and the lack of dedicated E-mail app. Technically it has Outlook, but I sometimes need to scroll through opened emails and you cant do that even on the Outlook app.

    Got mine on Friday and my Z Fold 3 on Wednesday. I will miss MST on both the phone and watch. Not all retailers support NFC and I'll have my Note20 Ultra until I have to trade it in and then my Note10+ 5G for MST support. I also kind of hate that for all the years Samsung has been making watches, they suddenly changed the home and back button placements. I'm sure I'll get used to it over time, but I started with the Gear S3 Classic, then Watch Active 2, then Watch 3, so it'll definitely be an adjustment. Other than these, I really really do love Samsung Watches!

    I've experienced the same laggy start up on the watch 3. Only seems to happen at start up and if left like you said it'll go back to it normal snappiness. Best I could work out is on start up all the apps are loading and updating at the same time, something that the watch isn't optimised for, a lot of "always running" apps are put to sleep between uses to minimise the impact on the watch. On start up the watch just has to deal with all, tbh it's a small price to pay for something that's optimised really well 99.99% of the time and that will eventually go as hardware overtakes software

Just had to have a triple bypass and I started shopping for an android watch to pair with my Note 10+... and then noticed that the 4 classic was out, so my search quickly ended right there lol. Onto body composition stuff, it's best to measure it at the same time of day, before eating something. When you eat/drink, obviously more stuff comes into your body and while actual body composition will not change, the stuff the watch can measure will actually change. Try measuring it in the morning before doing anything - you should be able to get consistent results, which are the closest to actual reality.

    • @averageazn4762
      @averageazn4762 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd have to disagree. I have visible abs, and should be in the 12-15% body fat range. Regardless of many variables that I've tried (different times of day, different levels of water/food intake, and from waking up empty stomach at lowest weight, etc) the lowest I've ever seen this watch measure me was at 21% body fat. So for someone like me who would prefer a more accurate reading, this watch failed. So I really wouldn't rely on this being close to actual reality.

    • @averageazn4762
      @averageazn4762 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@haviper At this point, I haven't decided if I'm keeping the watch. I'm 50/50 while I still have my return window, within the week. But it's still a few weeks before I'm done with my cut, so if I've decided to keep the watch by then, I'll consider doing a more precise measurement. There's no doubt this watch, and similar techs, aren't suited for my purposes. It's just the matter of by how much they're off, and whether that truly matters to the majority of the people using it.

  • @rawr95678550
    @rawr95678550 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    re: body composition, you're supposed to measure that at the same time every day, our body composition does indeed change wildly when using any method that depends on electrical currents running through one's body. Even formal large machines will do the same if using this method. That's why it's recommended to always measure when you wake up or always measure when you go to bed. The measurement is indeed accurate.

    Thanks for the review. Just cancelled my order because these are the same type of issues I am having with my 2018 galaxy watch since day one. Sleep recorded, footsteps counted when I am just sitting and inaccurate GPS tracking were always an issue. After all the updates nothing has ever been fixed. With Samsungs track record and the issues you brought up I doubt they will ever fix anything. I thought things were going to be better having google wear OS in the mix but I realized what the main problem is, the preloaded samsung apps are dominant and they make it a hassle to put certain google apps on and use them. It’s hard to look at the Galaxy Watch 4 as anything other than a compromise of a device compared to a true Google OS watch. It’s a flagship Wear OS 3 watch that runs Samsung’s UI on top, won’t ship with Google Assistant, and comes packed with default apps that compete with Google’s own services. Waiting for a Pixel Watch🤞🏻.

    This is just a personal opinion...
    I really wish someday Samsung would release a version of a current watch strictly focused on productivity.
    A watch for people like me who don't care anything about all those fitness features crammed into the watch and taking up memory and resources.
    Great video as always, I've been waiting for this one.

    Is the Galaxy 4 classic compatible with the polar hr10 heart rate monitor? It would be great to be able to sync HR 10 with the watch. Also it would be extremely helpful in your experience does this watch work with no data or Wi-Fi? For example if I want to log a workout but I'm not connected to internet or Wi-Fi can I still view my heart rate graph and save my workouts. It would be wonderful if this watch could sync with the HR 10 but cannot find a definitive answer online

    Great review as always Mike, thanks for your effort and detail!
    Couple questions though:
    1. I heard the battery life on the watch 4 was relatively short compared to past generations and other brands. I'm surprised you didn't mention it but was your experience with the battery life and reguarl use?
    2. I'm definitely interested in the classic version, but the "active version" has gotten zero love or attention on YT. Do you like the design of it compared to the classic does the touch bezel work as well as the physical one on the classic? Would appreciate your thoughts on this as well thanks!

      Battery life isn't that good. It drains pretty fast when you're not using the watch. I have to charge mine everyday. I recommend turning the watch off when not using to save battery.
      It charges pretty quick with the charger they included. I recommend having an outlet with USB ports for charging.

    How do you set notifications to stop T say 11pm and then automatically reenable at 7am on a galaxy watch 4?

  • @grllaspeak
    @grllaspeak 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok I received the pre order watch 4 44mm. Automatically I missed the Samsung original Digital Dash board face. The new one fonts are to small to read. Comparing Apples to Galaxy, Watch 4 needs more Ram, and storage in my opinion. It's android so you need more. For example my Apple watch can control household appliances but Watch 4 doesn't even support the Apps to run on Wifi. Finding a lot of Google watch faces don't support full function on the Galaxy watch 4. Watch 4 needs a better Goodnight mode for battery 🔋, they need to take a page from Apple in that function. I do believe this device is the base to a better Galaxy watch. Great video thanks 👏🏾.

    But what about calories counting in some Certain workouts like gym exercises? The problem is that they are pre-programmed in all galaxy devices. Some workouts will just take into account your Samsung Health Profile info (weight, age etc.) and Basal Metabolic Rate but not your oxygen level, gyroscope data or even heart rate. It is very interesting whether something has changed with the transition to the wear os.
