I like your points about gender difference and mostly agree with all of them. But there's one thing people often forget about when arguing about this things. Sure we have different natural advantages in some areas but it doesn't mean everyone should always follow this advantages. In theory it should go without saying but for a lot of people there's only two ways: either men and women are completely identical, or every man and every woman should follow their gender role. Yes, men are better at fighting and war, yet it doesn't mean every man should like fighting, should be in shape for it. And it doesn't mean that a woman can't like it, and/or be better than some men in it. About your last statement(society not pushing anyone to career choice because of their sex) I would disagree, a lot of people build their career or even their hobbies and interests based on social gender stereotypes. I always like to put it this way: I have long fingers, and a lot of people say that I should play piano, I have everything needed for it, but yet I don't. Some other people do want to play piano, and spend tons of hours training, yet being obset because they know they don't have physical advantages other people may have. But any short-fingered person that had any piano lessons would play it much better than me. Same goes about gender, yes you may have natural advantages, and yes most people of your gender prefer some areas of interests, it doesn't mean you also have to. You are an individual and you are free to do anything you like no matter what.

Hey DT. I am not asking a question, I wanted to explain what anime is to you. Anime is cartoon specifically made for an adult audience. This concept first began with japan and nowadays, you can find cartoons made for an adult audience from other nations as well (simpsons, rick&morty, futurama etc. -american adult cartoons tend to contain a more comedic overtone-) however if they are made specifically by japanese studios, they are named animes. Now when I say adult, I mean an audience anything older than the age of 11-12 maybe. These cartoons may or may not contain violence or sexuality, or they may just portray everyday subjects in an entertaining way for adults instead of a younger audience. The impression anime has on you specifically comes from loli hentai. hentai is the pornographic genre of anime and it has many sub-genres in itself, it does not necessarily have to be about underage girls. It might be about a kraken banging godzilla for all we know. Since it is essentially drawings, anything can be depicted in hentai, and that is the lure for most people. As with cartoons, anime have their comic book versions as well, which is called manga. More often than not, a franchise would have their manga before their anime. In fact, most animes are created after their manga counterpart gained fame amongst manga readers and studio is certain that they would be making profit off the creation of anime. Now to give off some basic stuff about anime and their audience: Since anime "may" contain a lot of violence and gore compared to normal cartoons, edgy teenagers in their 12-16 years old of rebellious phase take up on that part. The cruel and edgy world building of certain animes satiate their craving for rebellion. In the anime, people are shocked of their demise because they lack "strength" in these teenagers' eyes, which gives them a sense of speciality, because they are aware of a non-existing threat to their seemingly ordinary livelihood. It is the same with teenager novels basically. Guy with ordinary life picks up power, beats up bad guy, saves the day, tries to hide their power from their friends and family, the girl they love does not know he is a werewolf, yadayadayada... Anyways; like novels, anime has a huge variability too. There are many anime for many people. When I say I love anime, I say it for the thousand anime I watched and liked. DT, I am very much certain there are animes that you would watch and like as well. You seem to me as a very decent person and I would love to make a degenerate out of you/s. For starters, I would recommend you Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. It is a popular series that targets a wide audience and it contains very valuable life lessons, for the person who is willing to take them. It changed many other's life views in some ways and I am sure it will add something to you too.
I would like to correct you regarding the "made for x audience" part. Anime refers to all animation from Japan (unless you are speaking Japanese, then that word refers to any and all animation in the world), regardless of style, or target audience. Just like the word "cartoon" doesn’t automatically tell you the target audience. For example, both Pokémon and Doraemon have anime that are clearly aimed at children (younger than what you consider adult). You also seem to focus too much on a sub-genre of extremely specific, evil eye chuunibyou-like, action shounen, in fact a description so rich in details that it looks like something from a chuuni character's mouth, and the only thing that came to mind from it was Tokyo Ghoul (which I dropped after watching the first season because it was too boring for me), forgive my ignorance. Anime is just a medium, and not something that defines or is defined by its contents. Taking your own example, it would be like trying to explain to someone what a "book" is, and then dedicating roughly 1/4 of your answer to describing specifically the teenager novels you talked about. You have anime for any genre, for example comedy, action, adventure, drama, fantasy, historical, horror, science fiction, sports, slice of life, mystery, etc. And that is just taking the genre, because your entire answer makes it look like shounen (young boy) is the only target audience, when, besides children, there are others like shoujo (young girl) and seinen (young adult man). For recommendations, Fullmetal Alchemist Brothehood is indeed one of the best, in all aspects. Hunter x Hunter is also amazing in how the characters, the world and its rules are built. One Piece if you want a long and enjoyable journey. Steins;Gate for a shorter, but extremely good story (although it is easier to understand the time travel explanations by playing the visual novel, just the story of the true route in the anime is already good enough). Death Note is good for the most part. And also Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann for just pure giant robot shounen goodness.
@@favor94 are you replying to the first or second paragraph of my comment? I'm not sure, so I'll reply to both cases: 1) Doesn’t help the fact that it’s a wrong definition. If the original comment was about popular anime, it would at least try to mention them. Instead, it gives a wrong definition of what anime is, by saying it is "cartoon specifically made for an adult audience", then goes on to say that "this concept first began with japan", which is completely wrong: even being generous, animation in Japan began decades later than Europe. Refering to popular anime nowadays is irrelevant here. 2) Popular anime could matter here. The problem is, few (if any) seem to match his chuuni description at all. The (probably) most popular action shounen nowadays is Boku no Hero, which doesn’t fit. Kaguya-sama doesn’t fit. Neverland and One Punch Man don’t fit. Most popular anime nowadays don’t fit that description, it’s hard to come up with a name that does. And even if they did, that isn’t even the main problem, which I illustrated with the book analogy. OP is using a subgenre to explain a medium.
@@木原篤郎-b4m sorry, actually im not reading all part of yor comment before, but you replied with good explanation and i aggreed with you. What the OP saying about anime impresion is actually reverse in my country, in here most people saying anime is for children
On the Anime comment, it came from ppl watching programming blocks such as Fox Box, Kids WB, Toonami, and the like when they were younger. Anime that is mainstream is Dragon Ball Z (Pretty young girls are somewhat rare on that program). Pokemon is a Video Game 1st, then an Anime show for many others. Also, many Anime shows deal with certain topics and creative elements. Yu Yu Hakusho is one of my favorites.
Hey DT, what is the monochromatic unicode font you for example use in the tags on your dwm config.h and in other statusbars. It wont load or show on my system. Cant find the font.
Love knowing there are still people with sane views on gender. Men and women are equal in value, but not equal to each other. One is not greater or lesser than another, they just aren't equal - because they aren't the same.
Debugging keybords, use the command xev(1), which will show what keys are named at that they work. And looking in the log file will tell about error in configuration.
0AD is historically accurate, and societies that actually struggled against harsh reality were sexually segregated by necessity. Sexism was necessary in the pre-industrial world. Gender egalitarianism is a luxury because men and women are not the same. Women were put into roles that were less dangerous, for example, because the capacity for a tribe to restore it's numbers is more affected when a woman dies than when a man dies. Men are more disposable to a tribe, and therefore they can be allowed to do risky, harder work, with greater rewards as a consequence. This was true when tribes of humans were packs of proto-humans. Men and women evolved physical differences to account for the different types of labor they could be allowed to do. Men became warriors and hard laborers, because these jobs were inherently dangerous, where women became biologically tuned to life in the village. Women are much more socially capable than men, because inter-female competition is their only way of acquiring male-provided resources for their offspring, where men needed to form strong cooperative bonds for things like hunting and war. from this came greater male variability, which is why both 95% of prisoners and 95% of CEOs are men. Women tend towards average, where men tend towards risky strategies. this is because a tribe can remove it's undesirable males and benefit from exceptional males, but it couldn't afford to remove undesirable females.
Merry Christmas DT! I suspect you've hit a hornets nest in this video for being honest. The individual is indeed the only unbiased base from which to make informed decisions in life. People get caught up in their group identity & believe that defines them while giving them some sort of bragging rights for their immutable characteristic(s), & in doing so start demanding things of others that fundamentally detract from basic, natural freedoms or rights if you'd like to call them that. Making demands of others always results in deaths & more typically genocide in different points in history. Make no demands of me & I'll make no demands of you. The freedom of the individual is the freedom of all groups, groups are comprised of individuals. Some don't see it that way & I have no doubt that once they are aware of & see this video, there will be a flagging campaign or other underhanded nonsense against your channel.

As a big anime enthusiast, I can tell you it's not about Japanese culture (at least for me) neighter the underaged girls.. In fact, I didn't even watch most of the mainstream animes like Naruto or One Piece.. Trust me, anime I watched offten touch subjects deeper than most tv shows with real actors, so in my case the reason is purely its form of cinematorgraphic expression and experience/emotions they can portray.. Just to name the few recommendations, in case you're interested in some "anime for adults": Steins Gate (my fav), Terror in Resonance, Psycho Pass, Death Note, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Erased, Samurai Champloo, Attack on Titan.. If you give a shot to any of those, anime won't be symobls for underaged girls anymore, trust me! And, ofc, Merry Christmas! :)
I really like where you stand on current social / political issues. I understand why you generally keep your opinion to your self, but even when you say little, you are saying plenty. Proof that when you use your brain instead of a pre-defined speech, things are simple enough.
What does anime have to do with linux and software in general though? Nobody would think about asking "can you explain western cartoons", would they? They seem to try and bring anime into every topic they can. Definitely smells of fish here. EDIT: Looks like i misinterpreted the thumbnail. Looks like you did go over a lot of the points i made in this comment. Anime is a danger zone, watch it if you want but please don't get too obsessed.
Can't believe you had to explain why men are different than women -- obviously our public school system has failed all of the human advances since the paleolithic.
DT I suggest you keep on growing beard and maybe try some black rounded glasses and a hat . you could look like a French movie director or maybe like Linux Morpheus.
Anime is not a genre, it's a *medium* (and, loosely-defined, a style of art and storytelling). The thing that makes it special is that the Japanese use that medium to the fullest extent possible. Yes, there is a lot of cheesecake, as the demographic that spends the most on it are young, nerdy "otaku" men, not very different from the sf/fantasy/gaming geeks here in the west. But look below that surface level and you'll find a depth and richness of storytelling that you will rarely find anywhere else. Male-centered, female-centered, family-friendly, comedy, sports, human drama, art-house experimental, one-shots, long series, you name it, it's all there somewhere. Even their children's shows tend to be deeper and more complex than most of what you see here in the west. As in all things, it's a bell curve; there are the gems, and there is garbage, but the majority of it lies in the happy medium. A good place to start is with the Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli films. They are stories that everyone can enjoy. Then just search your interests. You _will_ find something you like. I personally prefer older stuff from the golden age of the '80s-'90s myself, when the OVA system was new and they were more likely to take risks, but there's good stuff from every era.
With regard to differences between guys and gals In a preindustrial society (as depicted in 0 A.D.) you simply cannot afford to have women doing work with high strength/endurance requirements, and have men do low strength/endurance work. In such a society, productivity in many tasks needful for human survival are explicitly tied to physical strength, thus men and women doing the tasks they are physically best suited to perform, and women doing the tasks their bodies are physically suited for is critical for the survival of family/community. Gender egalitarianism is then a luxury afforded by the West's massive wealth and ability to produce by our minds than our brawn.
people see sexist things everywhere, historically women were the farmers, and the men the one that do war, i don' t see how a game that also does that is sexist
as someone who watched both of them i dont really think he would like them, some one like him would like more legends of galactic hero or baccano!! or cowboy beepbop
So in short. DT is not being "Sexist". He just thinks that men are The Strong Captains of Industry, where as women are basically caretakers. Also: DT is Not Bald. He just doesn't like to have hair.

I'm sorry for anyone reading this mess. English isn't my first language.
I feel like the reason why men are more likely to go into tech is more cultural than "wired differently"

Hey DT, Your videos have helped a lot, I don't use my computer to tinker linux but to get work done. I tried xmonad and qtile but finally chose spectrwm. As a person who works on scientific computation and 3D modelling, tiling window managers have helped me increase my productivity. Also, before switching to debian from windows, I did not know that operating systems can be stable and dependable. It is refreshing to see my computer work exactly the way I want it to work.
@@木原篤郎-b4m maybe he refering to popular anime nowadays
@@favor94 are you replying to the first or second paragraph of my comment? I'm not sure, so I'll reply to both cases:
1) Doesn’t help the fact that it’s a wrong definition.
@@favor94 yeah, the same happens in my country. "Anime is cartoon, so it must be for children", even though things like the Simpsons exist

Hey DT, Merry Christmas! :-)
Hey DT, will you try Emacs' God Mode?
Merry Christmas btw.
Hey DT merry Christmas 🎄🎄,
can you tell me how you manage your job and TH-cam channel without being burnt ??
Hey DT, Merry Christmas...
I want that matrix screensaver.
Merry Christmas!

With regard to differences between guys and gals
In a preindustrial society (as depicted in 0 A.D.) you simply cannot afford to have women doing work with high strength/endurance requirements, and have men do low strength/endurance work.
DT shouldn't even have to explain his 0AD views. Ridiculous lol 😆 .
