Per sei anni Sebastião Salgado ha viaggiato nell’Amazzonia brasiliana, fotografando la foresta, i fiumi, le montagne e le persone che vi abitano.
La mostra, in anteprima in Italia, con più di 200 opere ci immerge nell’universo della foresta mettendo insieme le impressionanti fotografie di Salgado con i suoni concreti della foresta. Il fruscio degli alberi, le grida degli animali, il canto degli uccelli o il fragore delle acque che scendono dalla cima delle montagne, raccolti in loco, compongono un paesaggio sonoro, creato da Jean-Michel Jarre.
La mostra mette in evidenza la fragilità di questo ecosistema, mostrando che nelle aree protette dove vivono le comunità indiane, guardiani ancestrali, la foresta non ha subito quasi alcun danno e ci invita a vedere, ascoltare e a riflettere sulla situazione ecologica e la relazione che gli uomini hanno oggi con essa.

For six years Sebastião Salgado travelled in the Brazilian Amazon, photographing the forest, the rivers, the mountains and the people who live there.
The exhibition, premiering in Italy with more than 200 works immerses us in the forest universe, bringing together Salgado’s impressive photographs with the concrete sounds of the forest. The rustling of trees, the cries of animals, birdsong or the roar of water coming down from mountain tops, collected on-site, make up a soundscape, created by Jean-Michel Jarre.
The exhibition highlights this ecosystem’s fragility, showing that in the protected areas where the indigenous communities, ancestral guardians, live the forest has suffered almost no damage. Salgado invites us to see, listen and reflect on the ecological situation and the relationship that people have with it today.
