Not sure if you've seen the economics of sheep farming in NZ atm, but its not good. Being in overdraft doesn't pay. We needed cashflow, as over half our costs are in spring, while our income comes in in the Autumn. Last year was a financial disaster, this years looking worse. Plan from here on in is to target over 20kgcw average sheets, but we always go lower at weaning. As it turns out, a 20kg carcass will be worth less late Jan, than a 18 was when we weaned.......So, yea. 🤷♂️
@@deepsouthsheepbeef4307 economics are pretty dire for us to it hasn't stopped raining since July lamb thrive and killouts has been extremely poor high input on top not a lot of convenience in sheep sector beef cow and cattle either down sizing or existing going on
@@deepsouthsheepbeef4307that happens here in uk ben, sold some keep lambs extra 3 months gain a few kgs and sell them for less money, i think lambs always weght better straight of the ewe and before they start growng wool, happy healthy new year👍
