Decluttering is such a freeing thing. And not just cause you're getting rid of things that you know you can live without but also learning what you didn't know you could live without! Letting go of material things has seriously aided my happiness. My anxiety is much more manageable when a lot of my emotional and physical energy isn't so focused on material things.
are you a minimalist by any chance? I know lot of clean freaks who are I was just wondering if there was any connection with clean freaks and minimalists
I'm 25 and have never moved out of my parents house. I feel like my parents would love for me to live with them forever. There isn't really a big push for us to leave the best in my culture. I'm more than likely finally moving out next year though but I've been so grateful to my parents for keeping me around for this long. Such a money saver.
I still live with my parents in my childhood bedroom so I have 21 years worth of clutter but I'm so overwhelmed by it that I'm too anxious to even start sorting through it loool
tasha b there's a challenge in which you aim to declutter 1 thing on day one, 2 things on day two and so on. The aim is to do it for a month. Its not for everyone (I declutter regularly, so I wouldn't make it very far) but it might work for you if you're interested in decluttering.
tasha b you could also do one area at a time; under your bed, dresser, nightstand, closet (you could break this up into 2 days), bathroom... just every day pick a new space or category. i find that the minimalism game is limiting in the beginning, and a hassle on the 30th day. its all about finding a method that works for you.
I did that in my childhood room and it was JUST PURE TRASH. do it. now i'm doing it in my house as well, i'm tired of keeping stuff and not using it. feels so goood
I love that you talk about how age doesn't and shouldn't determine where you should be in your life. I hate how it's taboo to get help from you parents later in life; it's really unrealistic especially in this day and age when you need to pick life choices very carefully so you are in over your head money wise. Love you girl and keep showing others this.
I may have already asked you, but I think a lot of us would love to see a kind of more grown up/work style lookbook, 'cause you said you were working on it a couple of months ago. Much love
What's wrong with American kids and living with parents? They try to excuse, explain and defend themselves like it's a crime!! Like, there's nothing wrong with that!
Ami Amaranta I think it's a cultural thing! of course not all of America but usually you're expected to move out by 18-20 and so you can imagine me being 27 having to move back home for the SECOND time in my 20's is a hard decision. plus I've been kind of shamed online for it. of course I want to be elsewhere in my life but I'm so grateful I have this opportunity to save money!
Sarah Hawkinson we live with our families practically forever. Usually women move into the men’s house and live with his parents after marriage or some take in their old parents and siblings. It’s just odd in the USA not for us. Don’t worry. I know you must feel upset about it but it’s okay don’t worry.
I can relate to your situation so much. I moved back to my parents house last month and it was definitely a struggle to make that decision at 25 considering I haven't lived with them since I was 17. It's still a tough situation for me and it kinda brings me down to feel like I still don't have my shit together but I'm trying to focus on the positive: be grateful that my parents are able to take me in, remind myself that it's only a temporary situation and make smarter choices when it comes to spending money. Even though it's tough on me mentally, I think it's actually pushing me to actively look for a job and spend every day doing something productive. Sorry for the super long comment, I very rarely comment at all but I just wanted to share that you're not alone in this situation and I'm wishing you good luck on your move. It will not always be easy but focusing on what is to come next and working towards that will help a lot! :)
I appreciate your encouragement so much! We're close in age and I identify with a lot that you've shared about yourself since I first started watching you. I too didn't complete my degree within 4 full time years immediately after high school. I graduate in December and hopefully go to graduate school after. I have days where I'm proud of myself but others I feel embarrassed because it took me so long to get here. It helps so much to have people on this platform who get what I'm going through. I think some people might assume you graduate high school and you magically blossom into an adult but it doesn't work that way for all of us, especially when mental health issues and inadequate treatment play a role. Anyway, enough of me rambling! I'm always so happy when you upload, thank you!! 💕
I just threw soooo many stuff from my room and I still need to throw away and donate so many things and go through my entire closet and tbh it feels great. It's tiring but it's great.
Can I just say how happy I am that you do videos without makeup on?! Since I started watching them it even seems like your skin is looking healthier and more vibrant too. You go girl, embrace your natural self! I love it. Sidenote: I fucking love the declutter videos and haul videos you make! :D
I just moved back in with my parents for an indefinite amount of time since I am indefinitely between jobs. I decluttered so much this last move - the 9th in 7 years, third into storage - because I couldn't justify hauling so much around anymore. I am looking forward to starting new when I get the chance!
I've seriously been thinking of doing a huge declutter/cleaning spree around my house since the beginning of this year and have not done it yet.. I'm so lazy lol.
I'm a clutter collector by nature. I watch videos on TH-cam to motivate me. Such as hoarders, and decluttering videos. I really like the concept of only keeping what brings you joy. All the other stuff just tends to get in the way. Even though the idea of only having the things I really want makes me happy, the process of getting there is a challenge. GOOD LUCK!
Yo! My boyfriend lived with his parents til he was like 27 and the only reason he was able to move out was because I was going into college and my housing was being paid for, so he was able to ultimately move in with me 🤷🏻♀️ I'm privileged as fuck and it would be colossally shitty for someone with my extremely fortunate housing experiences to bash someone who didn't get that experience.
Hi Sarah! I was wondering if you could do a video on postpartum psychosis, specifically the Andrea Yates case? I am very fascinated by this disorder and i was wondering if you could do a more depth analysis? Love ya
im not sure why it needed to be written and not said, its not a big deal imo to move back in with parents waiting on leases to end so people can move in together and save a bit of money. you act like its somethign to be ashamed of. most people do it now a days and its actually smart.
+Lippy Witch I'm not ashamed of it at all! I know it's the best decision for me right now it's just I'm tired of being shamed for it online is all. I get a lot of flack for where I am in life and it's ridiculous but it does get to me sometimes.
darlin, you just have to ignore the haters. if you have to not allow yourself to read comments to do this then do it. you dont hve to justify to them (yes i know you know) but catching y ourself and not talking about what you want is allowing them to control your actions.
Sarah Hawkinson being in your 20's is confusing, I understand. You're an adult and you know people see you in that light and people see adulthood as living on your own and basically being settled down and having everything in your life together. But it's not that easy I know. I'm in my 20's and I've never even moved out, I'm still in college and not even in a job that relates to my career. No matter how old you are, we all have different journeys. Where you are in life right now is okay. You're smart and I know you know what you're doing. You got this Sarah! Also being at this stage in life feels like the awkward middle school and I completely understand.
I'm about to start a whole house declutter as well since I might be moving soon. I might vlog the experience. Maybe that'll help keep me motivated. It feels overwhelming 😖
I thought you had a piece of toast next to your monitor on your desk! Anyway, I was really in the mood to get rid of (mostly sell) old stuff a while ago and one of the big things I got rid of was an old school desk from the 80's or 90's. I bought it about ten years ago when I was just starting third grade, because wanted to play school with my friend so badly. It' has literally just existed at the foot of my bed for about seven years. Also, where do you find your flannels? I've been looking at thrift stores, but I've only seen black and yellow ones. I suppose the red and black is so stylish right now that no one wants to give theirs away.
Hi ! Discovered your channel some hours ago and love it. I'm so sorry to ask this as it may be asked many times but I found nothing in your older video. What is your hair dye? :D I've been trying to achieve that for months but its too light, yours is a perfect mix between bright and dark, brilliant... Don't know to explain haha sorry english isnt my first language :D Have a great day!
This has to be my favorite hair color on you! It's absolutely stunning♡♡♡♡♡ I've been binge watching your vlog channel and your my fav!!!!! You've inspired me to try Vlogtober! Keep those videos coming :)
Do you dye your hair at home or at the hair salon? I'm in love!!! Can you please make a chatty tutorial? You could like discuss some topics as you dye your hair
tsukihime _ that's how my parents are. They tell me and my siblings, you can move out whenever you want..but we prefer you move out when you get married...it's up to us lol
Kristen Dunn I know Muji sells similar ones (if not the exact same one) But they're quite expensive (ranging from $20 to even about $40 😕) For cheaper ones, try IKEA or Amazon ❕ Hope this helped 👍😊✨

I already decluttered my room. I'm a clean freak and HATE useless stuff. 💁🏻
Kate A same
are you a minimalist by any chance? I know lot of clean freaks who are I was just wondering if there was any connection with clean freaks and minimalists
same!!!! however I'm still trying to minimize a bit more

Love how your cat refuses to move
couldn't help but giggle when your cat came on the screen, he's so cute.
This is sooo satisfying to watch, seriously calms me right down

This was so relaxing to watch, oddly satisfying. Right after I watched this I got up out of bed and cleaned out my room. Felt so good 💕😊

Your cat watching you organize your clothes gave me life lol

Literally in a decluttering mood rn. And you're one of my favourite youtubers so this is such a happy coincidence
when I saw your cone cat do a little scoot scoot into the shot I smiled so much, your babies are so freaking cute.
This has inspired me so much to clear out all my junk and stuff I dont need/use. Thank you sarah!
what are you talking about this video is so satisfying to watch!!! Just look at those organized lipsticks...ugh, so good
I've seriously been thinking of doing a huge declutter/cleaning spree around my house since the beginning of this year and have not done it yet.. I'm so lazy lol.

We are currently decluttering our home and it is such a great feeling when you finish a section and have some space to breath finally!
Kitty lamp is the cutest
I just went through a big move myself and had to declutter/re-organize my life and it feels amazing
this made me clean my room. my mom can't even make me do that.
Doing this makes everything so nice and makes me feel at ease, but it's always messed up 2 weeks later
Should've thrown away that Jeffree Star liquid lipstick tbh
Amanda Agudelo yeah but it’s not your stuff

Like it literally had nothing to do with how hard I did or didn't work or what I did or didn't deserve. I just was fortunate af and got it.
Anyway I honestly look up to you and think you're successful and I'm always happy to see your content
This is the kind of inspiration i needed for the autumn's clean! And also, I'm moving overseas in 10 months and I'll need A LOT of decluttering!
Been meaning to declutter my makeup and clothes and this is my motivation lol perfect timing!!
I find decluttering videos so pleasant to watch ❤️
Hi Sarah! I was wondering if you could do a video on postpartum psychosis, specifically the Andrea Yates case? I am very fascinated by this disorder and i was wondering if you could do a more depth analysis? Love ya

Sarah Hawkinson stop letting words on a screen affect you ✌🏻

Thats literally so normal. They´re your family, I mean, what´s wrong with living with them if you want to?
I'm about to start a whole house declutter as well since I might be moving soon. I might vlog the experience. Maybe that'll help keep me motivated. It feels overwhelming 😖

+Cassandra Casillas I'll be posting the clothes but girl that concealer is like 3 years old! not safe at all to put on the skin :)
Aw what happened to kitty?
Where is your makeup organizer from?
Wow I have never seen one person have so much makeup, but I have way to many clothes, shoes and purses and have no idea where to begin.
Where did you get your desk/vanity?
I seriously would have loved to go through all your belongings.
I know this is too late to be a helpful comment but H&M has a donation box for clothes that gives you 15% of your purchase. They recycle the clothes!
Heyo on the topic of decluttering, the life changing magic of tidying up by Marie kondo is a good book that's I recommend.
Honestly, I am shoked how much stuff people have. 3-4 generattions like ours and this planet will be a huge trash can.
when i saw your cabinet w full of powders n other skin care products i was like "oh no honey"
I love decluttering videos
love the video! :D and your lamp cat lol
Love your hair color! What color do you use?
Where did you find that clear makeup organizer with the drawers? I need it!
Kristen Dunn I know Muji sells similar ones (if not the exact same one) But they're quite expensive (ranging from $20 to even about $40 😕) For cheaper ones, try IKEA or Amazon ❕ Hope this helped 👍😊✨
best of luck with that I've been there
