Rabbit Island is beautiful. I have a friend in Nelson who baked me a bacon & egg pie and we both ate it on Rabbit island. Good times, friends , beaches, pies and beer are never far away, no matter where you are in NZ. Your videos have all just made me want to travel, every week I watch them. Thanks for that and wish more people had discovered your channel.
Hey Donovan, your videos are like the holy grail of awesomeness ! 👏👍🤣 Seriously, you’ve captured the essence of NZ life with such finesse👍. It's like a crash course in cultural enlightenment, sprinkled with your contagious energy!😜 And that moment when we thought, "Oh no, is Donovan not having his daily dose of beer?" Ha ha ha...but of course, you came through like a champ!🤣 We Can't wait to see what wild adventure you dive into next! 🎥🍻 All the best and lots of love to both of you.💖💖💖
Thanks you so much! Your comments always leave me speechless haha I never know how to respond. Looking forward to the next adventure but will soak in as much NZ awesomeness as we can before we leave 🍻😃😃
If you spend a year in Australia, the car registration will cost you 10 times more, no warrants required, but that is factored into the extortionate fees for registration of your car. Plus half of nature can kill you here. The plus side is the money, pay is better, food and fuel are hiking up again. WA has the cheapest fuel, but that's going to change.
Huh good to know! I knew about the things that wanna kill you haha but it sounds like that’s worth it for a lot of people from NZ to find work over there.
I've only been to Nelson once in the 40 odd years I spent in New Zealand before relocating overseas myself. I like seeing it through the eyes from someone who like me isn't from there, even though I have family who live there and have done for a long time. I love this area, particularly heading north to Takaka Hill and to the beaches beyond, as well as Wakefield and the journey down SH3 via Murchison and Hamner. I've always thought that New Zealand is to Australia, like what Canada is to the United States. A little brother, who punches above his weight!
Great video - i live in Māpua and rabbit island beach is my go to happy place, i'm glad you were able to see both, your video has reminded me i live in paradise, so thank you 🙂
Gidday Donovan, thank you so much for your excellent clips. You do realise I shall be crying in my Corn Flakes each morning knowing there will no craft beer or pie reviews tonight. As they say in the movies 'we shall meet again'
Awesome video, Donovan! Great travel tips regardless of where you're heading. Can't believe there won't be New Zealand content soon but looking forward to all the Canadian places you're going to highlight!
I think those birds were shags, (also called cormorants). I hope you enjoy the remainder of your time in NZ. IMHO, one year isn't really long enough to get to know a foreign country, because for that period of time you find yourself making comparisons with your home country. It's only when you stop noticing (or caring about) the differences that you really start to get to know a place (again, this is just my opinion based on my own experience). If you could stay another year or two you'd probably see what I mean.
Hey thanks a lot. Yeah I can definitely see what you mean, I feel like I’ve stopped noticing or caring about the differences in the last little while since we’ve been settled and working. Thanks for the comment!
Always great to see what you've been doing in NZ Donovan. You'll love Australia too .....Sydney will certainly feel very different compared to these small Kiwi towns🙂
Great video!! I so agree about just doing the things you really want to do. We've been pretty good about that but there's definitely a few things I wish we just DID!! Looking forward to the final adventures with you here ❤❤
Never considered the humour of having an oil change outlet administer your tax number, and a post office facilitate your banking 😂 Tbh though, we do have a whole establishment dedicated to the IRD. Not sure why the AA is managing it.
Haha yeah that was a pretty odd thing to encounter in the first month. Obviously there are a lot of banks that aren’t attached to Post Offices but ours was haha
I hope you try some good ole DB draught before you go i still don't believe i've seen you have a draught ,you do know DB stands for DA BEER ,,it's da beer you go too when ya need a quick beer .I just wanted to know you opinion on it wanted to see if you liked it or not ? i was born in Buller so i grew up on it bottle feed it as baby it's the sweet stuff the nectar from the gods .That was a very long time ago there was not in a single Lion pub in Westport all DB & craft beer was grandads home brew it tasted like it had been brewed in a mouldy old gumboot & didn't get ya drunk so that was no good ,not a big selection available like these day .But i tried them all & just could not drink anything but DB draught it was da beer for most folks in the South anyway but i do like to put 2 sugars in my coffee & tea & my mother used to regularly say ,Your a sugar addict your just like ya bloody father you're going to get diabetes the bloody pair of ya ,,her exact words (aussie Accent ) . Maybe that's why i liked it if you have tried it? did you find it sweet ? was there too much sugar in it for your liking ? .
I tried it on our last road trip on our through the South Island about a month ago, we found a pub in Omarama and it served DB Draught in 745 ml. Nothing wrong with it, very easy drinking, and yeah I could see it being a little sweet and a bit malty!
On a completely unrelated note- does anyone have any brewery recommendations for Sydney?
Nope, nothing! It's all terrible! I'm not biased!
Alright, I asked a mate in Sydney, he reckons what you want to look for is 'The inner west brewery tour'
@@The_Absolute_Dog haha thanks a lot! I will be sure to check that out 👌🍻
The lord Nelson in the Rocks used to be a good place . onsite brewing , good food and many beers i liked
@@davidhumble1679 thanks for the recommendation, David! I was just looking at them today, I’ll have to check them out!!
Your comments on "just do it" resonated with me...
In life you will regret more the things you choose not to do than the things you do...
Glad to hear it! Yeah I feel you’ve just said it best haha

You are so kind. Hope you had some laughter 😂(to much G&T😜😱). All the best.
Great video. I do hope you and your lady tick off as much of your guys Bucket List as possible before your departure.
Thank you, Veronica! That's the plan, but somehow her list keeps getting bigger 😅
@@donovankelly12 Well you'll just have to come back!
Haha trust me, I’m already looking forward to it 👍
the video was perfect, i can totally see this going viral
Haha thanks 🍻

Yeah it’s been a really amazing area for us. A really nice change from what we typically get back home.
Haha punches above its weight, I like it!! 🍻
ya gotta go swimming at Rabbit Island. I was there in January, beautiful spot, water about 21C, perfect.
Loved the video 🎉 Happy your coming home Donny and super proud of you for your accomplishments!
Yeah the weather here blows so soak it up big boy 🦌
Thanks a lot Troy my boy! I’ll soak it all in as deep as I can 🍻😅☀️

Sydney? And why would he want to come to another big overrated city? Not everyone loves city’s/ Aust, Curls didn’t!..🤦♂️🤷♂️🤪
Haha I know, someone told me the other day that Sydney has just as many people as New Zealand...
Thanks for watching 🍻😃
@thrusta100 is it overrated?? The next part of our journey departs in Sydney so we will see how it is 😃🍻
Mapua is a lovely place.
It really is! We love going over there 😃
