Prolly cuz it made the most sense for him to get out while his pick up was there. Cuz either way he was getting K to pick him up. Also tbf Eli was telling him to get in the car and over the phone Yuno probs couldn’t even hear the police say it’s paused or anything 😅
The pause doesn't affect the swap, especially because they were already there. The cops would have to split either way if they wanted to chase him. In this scenario, the only difference is that the cops who would have stayed chasing the original car in an ordinary scenario stayed paused with the original car instead, while the ones who would split off do so as normal. If they'd split up before the book incident, you wouldn't expect both cars to pause if one gets scuffed out and it would kust be awkward to have a swap car sitting there ready and pausing with them. Plus, the yelling on the phone through his pov meant the pause wasn't that clear on his pov anyway.
