Sort of acts like an EliteDesk 800 but also looks like a ProDesk 600. HP came out with a line of minis for the retail market and this is the G4 variant.
This family of mini PC can be adicitive to buy. I have 5 that I have purchased since 2020 from the G2 to G4 series. I like your videos since I feel right at home. Perhaps in the future you can make some about possible uses for this machines.
Replace the CMOS baterry - a weak or dead battery can cause a lot o weird booting problems. Also often a good idea to clear/reset the BIOS settings by leaving the battery out for a while to drain the CMOS. The G4 also has a reset jumper.
My system came without wi-fi from ebay, despite it was on sale picture, and looks like not just card, wires & antenna & clips missing too. they give me $30 off, now question is it kit avail to buy to have wi-fi installed, all i see just a card only, can it work with card only without wiring (to install them whole motherboard need to come off)? or i will have to use as my backup desktop with ethernet only (i dont like wi-fi anyway), what you recommend, thank you! also, back to video "Find that Windows Key on an EliteDesk 800 G1-G5 Mini", unfortunately comments disabled there, very nice to get original oem key, most of people would not know about this, my was 8.1, so instead to reinstalling 8.1 and hoping for *free* upgrade to windows 10, i installed windows 10 first, and then clicked on change key and enter that 8.1 oem key, and it works and upgraded automatically to windows 10 ! just in case somebody will need it.
Thank you for letting me know the comments for the one video were off - they have been turned back on. I believe all the rest should have them on but please let me know if you find another one. Now as far as the wifi is concerned. You pretty much need the antennae to get a decent connection. For most of the HP models adding the antennae wires is not trivial - you have to remove the motherboard to string the wires. The only thing it buys you is the bluetooth if you want to use it for mouse/keyboard. I myself just use one of those dongles that controls both a keyboard and mouse. If you really don't need wifi I wouldn't sweat it.
Thanx for the video. Great little PCs these units but the week point to me seems to be the i3 CPU. Guess they are designed for corporate environment doing office type of tasks.
I was really baffled with this vPro thing for a while till I looked into the technical details between each of the systems. From my understanding the vPro badge isn't so much of a feature but a package of technologies that act as a guarantee of performance, security and management criteria for companies and business users alike. To qualify for Intel vPro , a system must use a multicore processor from the Core i5, Core i7 or Core i9 families, or a Xeon CPU family and the appropriate chipset. Essentially all the systems in the HP Mini range could qualify as a vPro system. In this case, it would need an i5 processor upgrade
@@handmedowntechHP has a few different heat-sinks, you have the all aluminum version as seen on this video, an aluminum heat-sink with a copper plate and finally there's the copper finned heat-sink with a copper plate which has only been seen on the 65W TDP units CPUs.
Thank you for nice review! One thing if you test it with original hynix 128g m2 ssd, you will notice terrible write performance, i guess hp saved money to put absolutely crappiest m2 drive available. firmware upgrade wont help, so add extra $ to total cost to purchase another ssd.
I love these mini-HPs.
Addicting
The H&P MP9
Is that like the VP9?

At 3:43 - the POS Keyboard with MSR. Pretty sure MSR stands for Magnet Strip Reader, so, it has an integrated CC strip reader.
@@wagnonforcolorado that makes sense. Not too many mag readers these days. They probably now have a chip reader version.
peace be upon you sir

Good to know. I threw it into my collection of lower sized m.2 drives in case I need a "throw away" drive. Thanks for checking out the channel.
