I met Alexi Laiho when he was just 17. I´m 2 years younger. I´ve been in the studio they made their first albums and even saw their gig before they did the first album (the studio is in my home city). The talent was always there from the start. He was so good!
Man, I remember when I discovered this album back in the day, this track blew my mind, probably my favorite. Also, we have to consider that Alexi was only 20 years old when they recorded it. Special special guy. RIP Alexi
I was blown as you were I guess, it became my favorite band almost instantly. About his age, he was 19 when he recorded the album and late 18 early 19 for the songwriting process, quite impressive to be creative like that. Follow the Reaper came out less than 2 years after. He was such a unique talent, miss him a lot!
Follow the Reaper and Hatebreeder are the two best metal albums EVER. RIP Alexi! ❤ It's metal but those songs are so full of happy melodic riffs, an incredible experience listening to them.
I remember back in 2003 when I listened to this album on CD. And i listen to it everyday going to school. My uncle introduced me to this band and the rest was history. Last tour i saw COB was in 2019. R.I.P to one of the most talented modern guitarist 🤘
I love the Tokyo Warhearts version of this song, I don't know if it's the rougher sound or cause it sounds like it's played faster or the live audience, but that one slams the studio one. Also the Touch like Angel of Death on the same album is another one that knocks the studio version out of the park, the Hummel gets the Rockets opening fits like a glove and the little improv on the solo at the end is just a chefs kiss.
Hatebreed were founded in 1994, and the album "Hatebreeder" is from 1999, so the answer to the question if Hatebreed got their name from the Children of Bodom album is yes because Hatebreed were in possession of a flux capacitor.
