    • @datumzinememories
      @datumzinememories หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its actually pretty extreme when you think that not all students protest. Equally there's have been other protest and none have gotten a ramifications like this. Should there be reform yes could there be more open views or safe spaces for those discussions debates before people try too take over or do actions that could be deemed criminal yes. Its throwing the baby out with the bath water going to help no.

    • @wingedbuffalo4670
      @wingedbuffalo4670 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@datumzinememories Hi Jennifer/@datumzinememories ... I appreciate your thoughts, and your points are not completely in error. But I think you are missing a bit of the operative dynamic. The truth is that NONE of the current students -- whether they were offenders or not -- are going to be "hurt" by the policy (even though perhaps some of them ought to be) UNLESS they ALSO decide to attend law school AND attend Columbia Law School at that.
      1. The13 federal judges specifically said they are making their policy effective ONLY for students BEGINNING studies in the Fall of 2024 (i.e., students who won't even begin attending Columbia for another 2 months)
      2. The policy was no doubt announced in advance because the judges were outraged at the so-called "leadership" at Columbia -- and announcing their policy a month ago certainly AFFORDS the Columbia "LEADERSHIP" an OPPORTUNITY TO FIX THEIR MESS and IMPLEMENT "REAL" CHANGE to the judges' satisfaction ...
      a) I strongly that, IF the so-called "leadership" at Columbia truly cares about its students' futures (not to mention the rights of all students to ATTEND CLASS WITHOUT BEING MOLESTED and LEARN WITHOUT BEING OPPRESSED OR BULLIED by THUG PTROTESTERS/ACTIVISTS) they WILL make the necessary changes so that this UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN ... and assuming Columbia makes those changes, I suspect the judges will reverse their policy ban.
      b) It also affords future Columbia students the opportunity to put PRESSURE on the Columbia "leadership" to implement the necessary changes IF they fail to do so on their own in the aftermath of the judges' announcement
      3. Making the policy announcement in advance to future Columbia students is actually a GREAT SERVICE to them. It places them on advance notice that THOSE judges will NOT hire them for prestigious clerkships IF they decide to attend Columbia AND IF Columbia doesn't make IMMEDIATE NECESSARY CHANGES. Any student who has the academic qualifications to gain acceptance at Columbia has the qualifications to gain acceptance and attend MANY OTHER EQUALLY FINE SCHOOLS which the 13 judges ate not boycotting. So those students now have been given a prudential choice where to attend school -- particularly IF they want to attend Columbia but Columbia refuses to make the necessary changes. It's all above-board and announced well in advance ... so if a student chooses to attend Columbia in the future and Columbia refuses to make needed changes, the student will have nobody but himself/herself to blame if he/she decides he/she wants to apply for a clerkship with one of those judges but the judges won't hire them.

      @@Lirree88personally, I don’t necessarily agree or disagree with the OP, however, there are lots of red flags displayed by people who facilitate and participate in mob rule. promoting bigotry and hate speech while advancing one`s own agenda from a position of authority (professors) is wrong. They were not hired to do this. Many faculty members are openly anti-Semitic( and whatever the flavour of the month is). Blocking access and threatening those who don’t agree with your opinion( students and non-students doing this). Student`s parents did not pay thousands of dollars to protest, and the non students are trespassing. If my child was involved in this, the tuition and living expense purse strings would be closed. Open calls for revolution. Against what?
      A student who took student loans in the thousands to go to these universities have displayed a huge lack of personal judgment and a lack of responsibility by taking part in these protests. Wasting other people’s time and money by preventing classes and denying education to those who do not share the same opinions as the protesters from taking place is wrong. Being cowardly enough to hide one`s face while rabidly supporting a cause one doesn’t really understand- all reason enough for the blanket refusal to hire grads from those universities. I wouldn’t because I wouldn’t be able to distinguish between who is easily led by the nose and who has a backbone.
      Remember, the placards they carry say cease-fire, but the chants, action and rhetoric is racist and projecting. Half of them are there because it`s the “in thing” amongst not very smart people. Intelligent enough to get into these institutions , but not smart enough to realize that actions have consequences .

      @@Daniel-of6rw So dumb it hurts us all! Ever heard of pettus bridge? George Floyd riots 2020. Vietnam riots? Change does not come without unrest weather violent or simply getting your attention. What would have changed if the summer riots over George Floyd had been peaceful? NOTHING Cops would still be murdering at a much higher rate and they would be walking free at a much higher rate. Civil rights would never have happened with out violance. We are a nation build on REVOLUTION , you want us to change into what? QUIET PUSSIES?

    HOW DARE someone criticize the judges for "judicial involvement in matters outside the courtroom!!" What hypocrisy! What about involving yourself in matters outside this country--matters about which you know nothing. Well, you know the lies. Imagine someone existing on a diet of lies and thinking he or she can function--at all.

      Those idgits are going to find out.....no jobs for angry, clueless fools that follow like lemmings......why bother with them, when you can just hire a smart, focused person.
