"718 Brownsville Brooklyn, your housing properties are gettin tooken" -Mash Out Posse (MOP) Brownsville's picture was painted in my brain, thanks to MOP
Salute to Brownsville, Brooklyn. I'm from Rutland and Rockaway Parkway. I'm Cali now, and I miss home. Thank you for sharing that good Ole New York love you heard. Stay Up.
This place is HELL within HELL. I grew up there in the Van Dyke projects in the 1970s and 1980s. No food in the refrigerator. Giant cockaroaches. Mice. People getting thrown off of the roofs. Crack in the 1980s. The train station called Junius street was where people got robbed and killed. Women got raped all of the time. Had to fight at least three times a day. When I would buy shoes and coats and clothes on Pitkin and Belmont Avenue I would have to fight my way back to my apartment. Had fight to keep my bike and skateboard. Had to fight on my way to public school and on my way back. I watched this video and woke up throwing up. Before the internet in the 1970s you would have to fight just to walk on that block. I was a child not even a adult and it was beyond hell on earth in those projects. All the children were talking about Sparfford and Rikers Island like it was college. Maybe things have changed now but for many people it was pure HELL.
@@pacmantravel2158 I used to live in Brownsville and there's an old guy over there that says he used to whoop Tyson. Nobody believes him but he says it with alot of conviction.
My cousins lived in Tilden projects. Used to take the 2 train to Rockaway from Kingston Ave (Albany projects)in the 70’s. This was spot on, memories. Iykyk.

I'm from BED-STUY and I remember coming out to Brownsville every other weekend. I had family in Van Dyke, Brownsville Projects and Langston Hughes. Those was the days running in and out of that library on Mother Gaston aka (Stone) and going to that ( Big R) super market on Livonia. There was so many memories growing up in Brooklyn and being out there was one of them. Major Flashback 💪
These new New Yorkers are obsessed with other states like Chicago and Cali. Smh born and raised in New York, it's sad to see over the years the city become what it is.
You might be right, but a similar argument is when people say ‘I’m from the East’ or ‘East side’ because people from East New York refer to it as the East, but people from East Harlem also refer to that as the East. I don’t know too much about Brownsville specifically, so idk What their definition of ‘ southside’ actually is
@@Kingstonian1G they only started doing that cause Brownsville is so big and it’s literally split down the middle by Livonia. Flatbush is Flatbush but you ask certain people they say the 90s. It’s not a geographical thing is just to specify what part of that neighborhood they at
