Neat little add-on considering it's very low profile I can see this being a neat addition to a desk. Dremel and a USB extension, be good to go for some clean integration!

I'm using the samsung flow for unlocking my window laptop, not that fast but It's fine as an alternative for unlocking. I want to try that out.

I would like this type of technology for macOS Sierra and above on the MacBook Pro without a touch bar. I would love this extra exclusive functionality from a third party item that can hopefully simulate the same Touch ID process.

Things like this make me wish they would double or tipple the number of USB ports on most laptops. There's never enough.

Is it safe?
Well... nothing is completely safe. A password (or PIN) can be stolen (for example someone looking over your shoulder while you type it in (this is especially true with a PIN) , or a camera watching what you type), but you can change a password. A fingerprint can be stolen as well, but you can't change it. So once your fingerprint leaks somehow you shouldn't use fingerprints for authentication. Plus you leave your fingerprint on everything you touch.
Both of these solutions have problems, but the best would be to use a PIN or password with fingerprint, for 2 factor authentication. As far as I know Android phones, iPhones and Windows doesn't let you do that, but correct me if I'm wrong.
