I haven`t been to an SA event since the old "Drag Wars" days at Brakpan airstrip in the early 2000`s...nice to see that it`s all still happening and progress is being made in some areas... I too was a member of The Opel Owners Club from 2001 to 2004 with my 1997 Kadett 180is...those were great days! One day I will return to SA and hit a few events...

Tarlton will always be the OG spot,when i was a child used to attend tarlton nationals and sport compact alot back in the 2000s is were my love for dragracing started,but these days i prevere midway just because of entry price and travling distance,petrol is expensive 😬
The guy in the Skyline got arrested as well. If I remember the story, he was late for a racing event and opened it up on the N1, got caught.... Think he said he bought a Jetta CLX after to speedproof himself.... 🤣😅
Naah Joel, it's a well known fact Cheslin is a Nissan Guy. So he most definitely won't be driving a Honda it will be a Sentra or Sabre VVL. Actually thinking about it he would make a good feature in SNS with his R34 GTR🤔
1979 till mid 1980s...street racing was between the 1600, 1750 , 2L ALFA ROMEOS, dohc, twin dellortos, 5 speed gbox, lsd diff, disc brakes all round , VERSUS the afrikaners with their 3l fords 30 ess , XR6,bra....it was always very close, except of course once the fords modified ANYTHING, they were faster, even with a simple '7/9 cam from richie jute. The alfas...there was nothing available for them, and anything you tried made it worse., like taking the air filter off🤣🤣 Good ol days, where it all started for me.
